Not quite as hot here today, and there is a slight breeze blowing outside.  No chance of rain for us, at least for the rest of the week, if my memory is serving me correctly, from what I heard this morning.

Quentin, glad to hear that Jean is on the mend.  Hoping and praying that she continues to improve daily.

Not going to be much for lunch/supper tonight; just seem too tired today to get much accomplished.  So here is our menu for the rest of the afternoon:

Hamburgers or cheeseburgers from the grill, with fries, garden salad, and we even have some fresh slicing tomatoes that can be put on your burgers, or simply put on your plate and add salt, pepper, sugar, or whatever you like to put on them.

DESSERTS:  Any flavor ice cream you'd like from the deep freezer, including ice cream sandwiches, ice pops, ice cream Snickers, etc.

Hope you are all taking care, keeping hydrated, staying as cool as possible.  See you all in the morning.

....Thank you, to many fine forum friends.  I certainly do appreciate the Prayers and good words for us.

This was not a good day for Jean.  Since the vent / breathing tube was removed yesterday morning the fluid / oxygen situation has been an increasing problem.

Lasic {Sp?}, has been removing lots of fluid from her body, etc., but her oxygen numbers were not good enough this afternoon.....had to add too much.

So I've received a call since I've been home this evening that the team has decided to reinstall the vent / breathing tube to supply oxygen and I believe they intend to continue this evening with the increase in the amount of Lasix.

So, Prayer is certainly needed, and we appreciate all that have been coming from many fine people.

Best wishes.

Good Tuesday morning all.  64 degrees here in Louisville at 5:36 a.m.  A half hour ago, we had 65 degrees.  High today should be around 82 degrees.  Then the heat and 100 degree temps come in Thursday on.  Still no rain in sight for us.

Quentin, so very sorry to hear about Jean's setback.  You all hang in there, and I'll be praying for Jean's returning to better health, and for you.

Coffee, juice and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is ready and on the breakfast bar.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later this afternoon.

Good morning fine friends on the forum.   We certainly do appreciate all the words, and especially the Prayers.  Keep it up, maybe we can win this one yet.....

First morning I opened some windows for weeks.  Cooler today, but like Paula said....the heat is headed this way....even to be near the century mark by Thursday.

Getting ready to head to our fine I U Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Until later.....

Afternoon Railfans!

Have I mentioned recently that it's HOT and DRY here? Sigh

Well, we have begin breaking Record Highs for several days now as well as hit the highest temperature in June in recorded history.  If we make 100 on Tuesday we will also hit the record for most 100+ days in a row which should happen in June.  Talk to a local Police Officer yesterday and he said the heat is definitely having an impact on the public as folks are running on short fuses just because they are miserable from the heat.

Lots and lots of fires burning, we had one start yesterday that got 100% contained today but in that 24 hours in blew up to 45,000 areas (4th largest in history) and sadly took out 4 homes along with other structures.

The beast up near Ft. Collins is now 87,250 acres and growing and has now wiped out 257 homes.  Seems like most of the US Fire Fighting forces have come here now that others states and the Feds can spare and it just won't die.

Quentin, hope Jean is doing at least a little bit better this afternoon. Will definitely keep up the thoughts and prayers for you and Jean!

We actually got a record low this morning for this date, as we got down to 59, 60 degrees this morning.  I actually put on a lightweight jacket to go to Produce this morning.  And it was very chilly out this morning, as there was a darn good breeze blowing.  Everyone else was mentioning how chilly it was, and I was the only one who had come prepared for our chilly, breezy morning.  After we waited for an hour and a half, without any sign of the Produce truck, the lady in charge finally got someone to answer the phone at Dare to Care:  Neither truck would be coming today, as they were "closed, doing inventory".  I made the comment that they should have called the centers yesterday, to let them know that there would not be any Produce or Bread Truck deliveries today.  Oh well,  "such is life in the big city", right?

Our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta is now under way, with everything on the warmer bar/serving station:

1.  Tacos (soft and hard shells)

2.  Burritos (beef, beef & bean, beef enchilada style)

3.  Chimichangas

4.  Fajitas

5.  Mesquite grilled T-bone, rib eye and porterhouse steaks, bone-in pork chops and chicken

6.  Spanish rice

And, of course, we have the tortilla chips with whatever sauce you wish:  picante, salsa, con queso.

Hope you are all enjoying this cooler, less humid day.  Everyone take care and see you all later.

Ambient temp at 103, second day in a row....out in the yard, with the ballast and cars holding and radiating the heat, it was close to 109...we would switch a track, go inside and cool off, switch a little more, back inside in the A/C...the word that fits best is stifling, it was so hot and still it was difficult to breath.

For those of you who know me, this should be a shock...I skipped coffee break and drank Gatorade instead!

Even for a swamp rat like me, this stuff is way beyond tolerable.

Hot enough to make going nights a real interesting possibility!

Waiting for a update from the big Q on Jean...

Think I will grill a few steaks, slice up some avocados,  tomatoes and cucumbers, make a skillet of cowboy potatoes, pitcher of sweet tea, and just sit in front of the A/C vent and play on the net.

Coffee futures just dropped - a lot!

You and Mud Chicken - It must be a "man" thing.  Driver used to drink Gatorade during summer karate classes - it is waaaaay too sweet for me.  Makes my teeth itch!

Keep telling you to move up here, but tomorrow will be 101 with a heat index of 110.  Best stay where you are.  You are closer to a coffee pot there...  Coffee

Morning Railfans...

It's just surreal to see what is happening here in Colorado with all the fires.  For nearly 3 weeks now we are hearing and seeing reports of someone losing their homes as these massive fires tear into communities.  Here is one of the shots I work up to today on the various news feeds showing northern Colorado Springs burning near the Air Force Academy...
