Wow,
I gotta check in here more often...
Walt, duct tape will last about a week, had to do top, rear roll up window on my old Wrangler, went whole hog and got fancy half doors with sliding windows and new sun visors to boot!
Of course, down here the top is off 9 month out of the year, but...
Paula, the Astros are always on the outs, its normal for them!
Quentin, let Jean set her pace if you can stand it, at some point she will get tired of being "tired" and improve faster than you imagine she could.
Mookie, tossing mudchickens at windows may not be good for the tossers health, I sure wouldn't want him PO'ed at me!
Johnny, so sorry to hear of your Ricki's passing...I won't tell you it gets better with time,(it really doesn't) but it does become bearable and you do start to remember the good times more and more.
Glad you had her for as long as you did, most folks don't get that, and I hope Aimee and I have as long a run.
Been in the lower 80s all last week, sporadic rain on and off, more off than on, and pollen form just about everything there is growing here all over everything.
The swamp is getting ready for summer...there are only two seasons here, summer and not summer, which lasts about 2 months, (February and March)....

Whilst growing up on a farm does make one pretty handy, I do know my limitations, and I won't hesitate to call in outside help for things. I do let my sister pick out the decor, though, I'm not a big decorator.....
Dad came over with two yards of pulverized topsoil for the garden today, he has a nice one-ton dump truck that made placing it easy: Back up to garden, dump, and spread. Now just need to get his rotor tiller over to till up the upper half, and I'll be ready to build the upper retaining wall.
See everyone later....

Cold & damp yesterday. Just could not warm up at all. Today sun is back and supposed to be in 80's all week. I would have settled for just 70's all week after only 50 yesterday.
SLion - "Mundaney".......no plans for all week. Get to pick and choose what we want to do.

Good Monday morning everyone. Hope you all had a very good day yesterday. Slept in this morning, only been up almost an hour. But I've got coffee going, and have the juices made, along with other morning beverages. Even have some iced tea ready for today. It was 65 degrees when I awoke, and we're to get up to about 85 degrees this afternoon. We do have a chance of the hit and miss showers/thunder showers, will be more likely tomorrow afternoon towards evening.
Quentin and others, thanks for the prayers for my niece. Haven't heard anything new, since around 5, 6 p.m. yesterday. At that time, she still wasn't talking to anyone. Will check in later and see how she's doing.
Q, with this nice weather, maybe Jean will feel like sitting out in the sun/shade a little bit again today.
Everyone have a good day, take care and see you all later.
Wow, I go away on my usual 10,000 mile trip for work, and everybody goes to the hospital or passes on. Thoughts and prayers to all involved......
Home for a much needed vacation this week, will be spent getting projects done around the house. Plans are to clean up the landscaping around the house, redo our garden area, repaint our living room and finish some trim work (swapping the last of the pine for oak), and possibly get the bathroom repainted. Already got about half of our retaining walls in for the garden, dad and I spent five hours doing that Sunday. The old railroad ties definitely needed to go, one was so rotted out that it came up in pieces.
Weather for today is clouds and a bit of rain, so will probably spend today in the basement getting the new trim stained and varnished, and probably working on a small railroad for around the christmas tree.
See everyone later......
This is a picture taken of the parking lot next to our house, by our sidewalk, about 1 1/2 hours after the hail storm Saturday night. Sarah's Jeep barely visible. And will have to have a new soft top put on. She and I spent part of this afternoon with a roll of Gorilla Tape patching the top. The hail was marble size mostly, and some slightly larger.

.....Paula....I hope your Prayers are answered for your niece.
Our recovery struggle continues, and appreciate all Prayers.
We are home. Jean wanted so bad to smell the fresh air outside today, and we managed to get that done....Walk from front door around on the sidewalk to the back patio, and back. Temp then was 62 degrees.
This coming week is to be in the 70's and maybe low 80's....with possible rain at times.
Quentin
Well, niece is finally awake, although she is not talking to anyone yet, not even the doctor(s). Apparently, she took something, and she ended up under her daddy's truck, shaking uncontrollably, from what I've been told.
For supper tonight:
Items from the grill: hamburgers, brats, steak, pork chops, chicken, and some veggie kabobs.
Side dishes: potato salad, mac & cheese, baked beans, tossed salad, fresh sliced tomatoes and some cantaloupe chunks or slices (have both)
Desserts: "Death by Chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake w/white icing, peach cobbler w/vanilla ice cream and homemade banana split sundaes
Hey Joe, watched the last half of the Reds game: glad to say they won, 6 to 5 over the Astros. It was a good game, at least the last half that I saw.
Everyone have a good evening, take care and see you all tomorrow.
matt went with sunday schoolmates and sang for his lunch today. They went and visited shut ins and had pizza for lunch.Working on another project for a bit.it's back to work tonight.
tree68 Q - Home is good. I'm all schooled out. EMS classes Thursday evening and all day Friday, then NORAC rules class Saturday. Add to that working at the PBS auction Friday night after class, and a two hour drive to get to (and back from) rules class, and I'm beat. I made the mistake of stopping in at the TV station on the way home Saturday night and ended up "selling" a half dozen boards since the expected auctioneer didn't show. Looking forward to sleeping in Sunday morning. Time for bed.

Good Sunday morning everyone. We have a very cool 54 degrees this morning. but supposed to make it up to 79 degrees this afternoon.
Hope Walt comes in later, with a picture of some of the hail we got yesterday evening. We were all three in the living room, watching TV, when it started. Sounded like Mother Nature was really pounding us with hail stones. Sarah's cat, Uba, kept looking around and around, trying to figure out what that noise was. It was hitting every surface it could. I tried to take a picture with my cell phone, but it didn't show up. Walt even tried getting a picture with my cell, and he couldn't get it to show up on the screen.
Going to be saying a lot of prayers in Church this morning, not only for Jean and Q, and Bruce, but for my niece as well. After the storm last night, something told me to call my niece ( twin brother's only child), and he answered her cell. She's in the hospital, and I haven't heard back from him, as to what is wrong with her. I've been praying for her all night long.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. There's cold pizza on the warmer bar, along with bacon, eggs and toast.
Everyone take care going to Church, work, rail fanning, etc., and see you all later.

Q - I hope she isn't watching the White House Correspondents' Dinner! She will definitely break something! I laughed until I cried!
Glad she is home. Healing is always better done there!
Wonderful for remembering us Cannonball...
We are home...Yes, that's a major accomplishment.
Now, with this kind of operation, we must get Jean to intake food, and that is very slow....But we must not stop trying....She's very weak and we must get that energy in her to continure recovering.
So keep the Prayer lines open for her...{us}....and many thanks.
Happy days are here again. Thank youQuentin for the updates on Jean as she is getting better and better. A big sigh of relief for you now is in order. A prayer in church from the prayer matron to you folks on sunday.

.....Yes, Dr. Ella is sitting beside her on a La z Boy right here in our home office. She was so excited when we brought Jean in, that she had a difficult time squealing...
So we'll take it one day at a time, and work on getting back her energy, etc.....
Thank you Joe!! I was just coming in, to put them in the oven, and get things going. Now I know who to thank, because I could smell the pizzas when I came through the door. And to go along with the pizzas, I've made a big ole garden "tossed" salad to have with the pizzas.
Quentin, glad to know that you've got Jean home. If Jean is like me (and others coming home from the hospital), I know how tired she was when she finally got home and in the house. Is "Dr. Ella" taking good care of her? Imagine she is.
We've had a little bit of sun this afternoon, and it is warm (haven't checked the thermometer to see what the temp is, but have the kitchen window open (only one we can actually open right now). Thinking I may have to go up to the bedroom and put the ac on auto fan.
Right now, Walt and I are watching the Reds game. Well, I was, until I came to the puter, and Cincy was ahead 4 to 0 over Houston. Time to get back in the living room and check the score.
That is great news Modelcar. We'll keep you in our prayers.Cw I put the usual pizzas in the oven.
...We're home. Jean very tired. We must work thru this slowly.
morning
good day yesterday. We started in Deshler and finished here in town. A contractor is going to try to pick up ties today if a dispatcher and mother nature lets them.Cw thanks for breakfast. Will take some pizza for tonight.
Good Saturday morning everyone. Currently 53 degrees here in Louisville, but looking for rain to come in shortly, and possible thundershowers later this afternoon/evening. The Balloon Race got cancelled for this morning. Yep, they went ahead and just cancelled it totally, not even going to try again later today, or tomorrow. Maybe next year, we'll have better weather to watch the balloons flying overhead.
Justin, know you're happy that the school year is winding down. Maybe we'll get to see you in more often?
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. And a Saturday morning brunch is ready and on the warmer bar.
Everyone have a good day, hopefully, you won't have to dodge rain drops, take care and see you all this evening for our pizza fest.
Not too much longer till' school is over....

Mookie, I'm the same way, as far as the chocolate covered/cream filled long johns: that is my favorite doughnut!! Guess our temp is now in the low 60s. Still very cool, but the breeze isn't quite as brisk as it was this morning. Did take a short walk this morning. But it was too cool for me, so I came back home. Not venturing out too much today. Decided to give me knees a rest today. Sun is still shining.
Our Friday Fish Fry is ready and on the warmer bar. Will be replenishing fish and sides as needed. Everyone have a good afternoon, and see you all later.
Long John/cream filled/chocolate frosting -
Tree - that looks like so much fun! Worked one and watched many others locally. They worked very hard at making it fun for the volunteers.
CW - it is only 55 here and the wind has the trees sideways. But the sun is shining - for now....
TGIF Railfans!
Man, did we get a quick but very drowning down pour last night along with some strong winds. Had water coming into the house from the bathroom vent . WIll need to see if the wind did any damage or if the water has just being pushed so hard in got up and under the vent cover.
Hear this morning that Lamar, CO got hit with three (3) tornado's including one that made a direct hit on their power-plant. "Colorado Emergency Management has issued a statement asking people in the Lamar area to use caution due to downed power lines. They are reporting power is out in Lamar, Eads, Chivington and Sheridan Lake and surrounding areas. The statement calls damage to homes "considerable" and says power may be out for four hours or possibly longer." My thoughts out to those hurt by this storm. Lamar is about 100 miles east of Pueblo and about 30 miles west of the Kansas state-line.
Good Friday morning everyone. Man oh man, did our temps get down last night. When I woke up about 6:30 this morning, it was 42 degrees outside. Bet now, that the sun is beginning to shine, the temp is 40, 39 degrees. And no, haven't stuck my head out the door this morning, just looking through the glass in the security door.
Darren, Mookie's right. I may keep track of things in here, like new people coming in the door, birthdays, anniversaries, but connecting with everyone else is what keeps these doors open. You, and everyone else is more than welcome in here, the more the merrier. As a matter of fact, wish we could get some of our regulars back in here, who seem to have forgotten all about us. Won't mention any names, but they know who they are.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On the warmer bar this morning: doughnuts (cake doughnuts, cho. covered cream filled, choc. covered cream filled long johns, blueberry or strawberry muffins; apple, peach, cherry, raspberry danish. And, of course, there is the usual breakfast menu for anyone who wants that.
Everyone have a great morning, take care, keep safe and see you all later.
Greetings and peace be with you. 68 and thunder in Carolina with a little rain mixed in.
Q, our prayers continue for Jean and for Johnny as well. May The L-RD strengthen all of you.
Well, I survived a quack visit and a visit to the barber today. Then, a much delayed dinner celebration of our anniversary of a month ago. Then, we topped things off with three scoops of butter pecan ice cream on a tiny cone. I don't think I can tolerate such a day too often and maintain my Charles Atlas figger!
Everyone take care and have a great Friday.
Tom
