It just kind of surprises me that there are so many falls and it is summer. I understand elderly falls, but we had one off a roof (30 feet), someone walking and tripped, and since they usually give the age of the soon- to-be patient, there are a just lot of young people falling, too.
Maybe they felt "the earth move under their feet....".....

And....at 5 pm this afternoon our weather instrument registered 99.5 degrees...and plenty of humidity to go with it. Felt like a very hot day in Florida when walking out of the house, it was like going into an oven. Then back in...burr....for a few minutes. 20 degrees cooler and low humidity.
Then this evening {early}, a horzional red {radar}, line came across Indiana and a portion of it passed our way...It was traveling eastsoutheast.....and lasted but just 20 min. or so, but brought us one half inch. of badly needed rain.
Tomorrow....another hot one forecast.

Good evening. Not a great day around here. It is 61° which is about as warm as it got all day. It was overcast with showers.
I had planned on going down to the Stampede Grounds today, to look around at the exhibits and the midway. I don't do rides anymore but it is fun to watch. There are both indoor and outdoor exhibits, plus there is midway junk food. My once a year chance to eat corn dogs and such. Each year they seem to invent a new kind of junk food, and I think they may have come up with the next sign of the Apocalypse; deep fried Pop-Tarts!!
I still haven't decided if I am going to try one!
Unfortunately, tomorrow is supposed to be wetter than today and I have other commitments on Wednesday. But I have until Sunday to tempt fate.
CN has been having trouble with small washouts all over the place NW of Edmonton. Last report I have seen though indicates they may be getting ahead of the situation now.

Good Tuesday morning everyone. We had an interesting evening here in Louisville: over by the U of L campus, a big ole water main burst, probably just after 6 p.m. From the pictures we saw on the news, it looked like the Ohio River had extended its banks well south of the river. Some of the local area (not our neighborhood) is under a boil water advisory until further notice. Although, our water pressure did go down for awhile, but seems to be pretty much back to normal.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Breakfast is on the warmer/serving station.
I'm about to have a fit, cause I can't have anything to eat or drink this morning: have to go in a couple of hours, and have that nuclear stress test, which takes four hours. Then, after that, I have to go up one floor for ABI test. I know the AB stands for ankle/bone, but haven't figured out what the I is for. So you all won't be seeing me around until probably 6 p.m. or later.

....Half inch of badly needed rain early last evening, but it was over in about 20 plus minutes.
This will be another hot one today. First peek at the instrument this morning at 7 was 76.8, so the heat will be on again today. Rain helped, but we need more.
Well, the nuclear stress test did not take 4 hours: only just over 2 hours. Then, when I went up to have the ABI test done, it was canceled: the room is very small, and the tech said he wasn't staying in that room without any air conditioning. So they rescheduled me for Thursday morning at 10 a.m. The nuclear test wasn't bad: they do it in two sections, and during each session, each time I was about to drop off to sleep, it was over. So, I've been home just about an hour now.
For lunch, I've fixed some tuna salad sandwiches, BLT sandwiches and you can have your choice of fries, tater chips or Cheetos, along with your choice of cole slaw or garden salad.
If you want anything different for supper tonight, just let me know.
For dessert:
Cantaloupe, watermelon, grapes, or you can have cake or cobbler and ice cream.

We'll take some rain, too. My lawn is turning a nice shade of brown, and my posies want more water than my well is willing to give up. A nice overnight soaker would do nicely, and wouldn't mess up very many people's vacation plans. The farmers would be grateful, too.
Off to the railroad tomorrow - it's "Train Robbery" day, which actually makes my life a little easier. All I have to do is get them on and off the train - the acting troup takes care of the rest.

Good evening. The guessers had a malfunction today. None of the forecasted rain showed up. However, it was cloudy all day. It is still 64° at 10:30 PM, not bad for any summer day here, in spite of the clouds. More rain is forecast tomorrow, but I guess we will have to wait and see.
CN is still having problems with washouts around Edmonton. Now they are dealing with one SW of there. They get ahead of the problem in one location and another one washes out. It is a combination of rain on site, and rain swelling rivers upstream increasing flowing water, washing out trackage. Hard to say how long that unfortunate combination is going to continue.
Larry, CN would certainly be happy to send some wet weather your way.

Doubling out a train and the thermometer across the road said 82. This was 1030pm. Was in the 90s earlier in the day... god only knows what the B-temp was. (ballast temp). I wish there was a 3rd trick job I could hold right now.

Even though I didn't do anything but lie down or sit up during the test yesterday, I was really worn out, when I went to bed last night. Don't think I even rolled over through the night: woke up in the same position I was in when I went to sleep. Actually feel rested this morning, and raring to go.

People south of us would love to send trainloads of water to anyone in need. Trouble is, they can't get the trains near them.
Joe - had a burst of trains really early in the morning yesterday (according to an eyewitness there). By the time we got there about 10 am - it was all over but the shouting. And I was the only one doing the shouting.
Figured out they are doing business for a couple of hours and then long stretches in between. Just haven't figured out when the stretches are happening.
Also found out that some road travelers came into Lincoln in a DPU - air and all. That surprises me! I figured all locomotives were locked when not occupied, but Houston told me no. Wny would you not lock something that important and expensive just to keep down unwanted guests if nothing else? Couldn't you use something like a switch key - a universal key?
I feel a rant coming on, so will go find my coffee and a dry spot.

Gee, Mookie, wish I could send you some of our non-humid weather! It is beautiful outside: pleasant breeze, and very comfortable outside. Walt and I just came in from being outside.
Everything went pretty good this morning at the doctor's office. Unfortunately, I won't know anything about any of the test results until next Friday. Guess I can wait that long.
For supper tonight, here is our menu:
1. Roast beef, taters, carrots, choice of green beans, broccoli w/cheese sauce, rice, tossed salad and dinner rolls.

It has been pretty much normal around here lately. Not too hot (high's in the low 70's), not too cool in the evening (59° right now), and a few thunder showers. There was a brief moment yesterday when it was though a tornado had touched down in the west end of the city. It was later determined it was just a straight wind gust.
This did lead to the most accurate statement I ever heard from a radio weather man, "funnel clouds really blow!"
Thing are drying out a bit around Edmonton, which is helping CN's operations get back to normal, but they still have work to do.

Good Friday morning everyone. 70 degrees here in Louisville this morning, with a nice, cool breeze. Temps today will be about like yesterday, upper 80's, low 90's with the humidity creeping back up later this afternoon.

On the warmer/serving station this morning: cake & yeast doughnuts (chocolate covered, chocolate covered, cream filled long johns, vanilla filled chocolate covered long johns, lemon filled doughnuts and raspberry filled doughnuts), caramel pecan rolls, bacon ,sausage, eggs and toast for anyone not wanting any doughnuts or danish (lemon, strawberry, cherry).

Sorry, folks, I was thinking that I'd been in earlier and posted the menu. But, since it is Friday, think everyone knows the menu: Friday Fish Fry:
FISH: Catfish, Cod, Perch, Bass, Haddock, Halibut, Flounder, Shrimp, Crab cakes, and Tilapia.
SIDE DISHES: Baked beans, corn on the cob, hush puppies, fries, deep fried onion rings, greens, mashed taters w/gravy, deep fried breaded mushrooms, cornbread.
DESSERTS: Chocolate cake w/white icing, Yellow cake w/chocolate icing, chocolate pie, pecan pie, and the following cobblers: apple, cherry, blackberry, blueberry, strawberry/rhubarb and peach.
Not sure what our high is for the day (current temp is 89 degrees, but it has been very pleasant and comfortable, with a light breeze blowing.

The weather was nice yesterday, with a hgh of 86, and this is supposed to continue for a few days. I have heard about the stagnant air over the midwest, so yall take care for the next few.
