......I don't know where the snow came from....Haven't checked to see on any weather map, but I had heard no talk of snow last evening.  But late this morning, we started to see very light fine particles of snow.

Now I'd say we've had perhaps a bit over a half inch of the stuff.  Not extremely cold....

So Jean and I have comfortably stayed home today.  Did some insurance paper work this morning, and hung a new piece of art {in picture form}, for her and just in the last hour set down here at the computer.  Sent some pic's. to sis in law over in Pennsylvania.

Did watch a bit of the action {live, in the House of Rep.} a bit earlier this afternoon.

Noted we've gained 16 min. of daylight in the evening....So we're really headed the right direction.  Actually cracked open my new Trains mag. today for the first time....That's probably a record.  But other mag's. come too, and other things were being done. This months Trains seems to be an interesting issue.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Cloudy and 31 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  The 1 to 3 inches of snow they were calling for us to have by today:  now is a dusting to 1/2 inch by tonight.  Supposedly the snow is west of I-65, headed this way, but not here yet.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Regular breakfast menu items on the serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and see you all later.

Earlier this morning we had 19 degrees, and now it's 22 plus.

We might see some flurries today and tomorrow.  Did get 1" of the stuff yesterday, and our morning paper indicated there were 75 wrecks in the area.

Stayed home out of the little bit of snow and it's potential on the streets.

Headed for the church to replentish the envelopes in the pews this morning....Then maybe lunch someplace.

Moved a couple of inches of the white stuff off the driveway before I checked the mail this morning.  Looks like it's time for a return to the shovel.  Or I could just wait and fire up the snowblower.

The exercise will do me good.

Then again, we are under a winter storm advisory.

Wheeee!

Whistling     Here in Az. , south of Chandler is the GM proving ground .  There the ( engineers )  cut off parts of a car body  and glue and sheet metal screw  on to a new designof a chassis. That disgiuses the new features of a model .The dash board is loaded with instrumentation of various kinds . Then a manufactures  tag ( mt-xxxx) is put on and hits the roads in the state for testing , usually in a 2 car parade. The cars look like an escapee from a demolition derby . That is todays way of hiding the new models.  Quentin ; I guess you have seen more than a few of these in your time  at GM

Cannonball........Have complete understanding what you are talking about.  Before coming to Indiana, from Pennsylvania, was involved in automotive brake testing there in our mountain type terrain.

And that led my exit to BWA and the engineering dept...Producing prototype units and testing thereof.  Did that in Pa. for 5 years, and then was moved to the Lab here in Muncie at that plant.

I can go back one step further....Back before the brand new '49 model cars from Ford motor Co....All new Fords....and all new Mercurys were tested in that area of Pennsylvania which we're talking about 1947/ 48....And some of those bodies were very different than the final production vehicles were.  Their testing headquarters was located in Jennerstown and later they did a lot of truck testing in the same area as well.  Our BWA test facitility was located there too.  In fact, brake testing was done {by a half dozen co's.}, in that area from before WWII.....Roughly from Jennerstown, east to Bedford Co. which included up and down several mountain ranges of the Alleghenies in the area.

Well, it's lunch time, and I've got the following on the serving station:

1.  Friday Fish Fry, with the regular kinds of fish, sides and desserts.

2.  Tuna Casserole w/creamy parmesan

3.  Cream of Potato of Cream of Broccoli soup w/grilled cheese sandwiches

Dan, at least you posted, and let me know you'd be lurking around with a hammer.  What, pray tell, are you going to do with said hammer?!

Not much snow on the ground around here.  Snow is so light, you can't really see it coming down.  But cold and windy outside.  I'm definitely not keeping entry door open, so that I can look outside, as I'm sitting here at the computer.

Everyone have a good afternoon, take care, and see you all in a bit.

Well, good Saturday morning all.  It looks like we have about an inch of snow on the ground (grass and sidewalks).  We're under a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 a.m. this morning.  Maybe we'll see some sunshine later today.  But it won't be warm enough to melt this little bit of snow, as we probably won't make it too far above our current temp, which is 19, 20 degrees.  When I awoke at 6:14, our temp had dropped from 23 degrees to 21 degrees F.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Usual Saturday Brunch selections are on the serving station.

Everyone have a good day, be careful out there, whatever and wherever you have to go today, and see you all later on this evening for our pizza fest.

Whistling  Tree;  when or if a large storm comes your way with snow,  it is not good.  when there is too much to pile up on the streets and roads , does the citys still load it in open hopper cars and send it south to melt ??  I recall that in 1949& 1950.

As I understand it, it happened in Buffalo with the great Blizzard of '77.  The problem was that there was a cold snap down south, too, and the snow never melted...  Oops!

The city near here routinely dumps (or did - not sure if that's still the case) snow into the river that runs through it.  Most villages usually have some sort of open area they can haul the snow to.  Out in the country it just gets pushed aside or piled.  If it gets too bad alongside a road, they'll call out the snowblower to move it further off the road.

The Redfield area, on the west flank of Tug Hill, got 12 feet over about 7 days a few years ago.  It was a pain keeping up with it during the storm, but it didn't cripple the area.

We're used to it.  As long as the plow operators can see where they are going, and are sufficiently rested, they plow.

Thanks for the pizza, CW.

Spent a fair portion of the day today standing by at a fire station in another part of the county while that department celebrated the life of a past chief.  A somber event, to be sure, but the brotherhood makes it worthwhile.

That department covers some pretty busy territory, but we only covered one medical call for them.

Everyone have a good morning, bundle up if you have to go outside, take care and see you all later.

I believe this is our coldest morning so far, for this season.  At a little before 8 our instrument was reading at 9 degrees....Perhaps it went a bit below that at sunup....That generally happens.

But good old sunshine is coming right in my eastern window here right onto my computer screen.  That will help soon...and the trees seem motionless, so that's better than yesterday.  Putting gas in my truck yesterday {at 16 degrees}, but with wind, and it felt bone chilling.

No snow over night and believe none on the way here today.

So...Church will be next, and probably to our favorite Olive Garden later for our Sunday meal.

Larry, you're very welcome on the pizza.

Here's the menu for our Sunday Dinner:

1.  Meat loaf w/mashed taters, homemade buttermilk biscuits, gravy, peas w/corn, brussels sprouts, cauliflower

Desserts:  chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, peach cobbler and blueberry pie.

Quentin, hope you and Jean enjoy your visit to The Olive Garden.  Maybe, later, before your bedtime, you might want to partake of a meat loaf sandwich.  I can remember, when we were growing up, after we got home from Sunday evening Church, Mama would fix each of us a meat loaf sandwich, and we'd eat it while watching Bonanza.

Yes, we were well treated at Olive Garden....Good Sunday meal.  But our favorite waitress is moving back to South Bend...She, we will miss.

Used to look forward to lunch at Bruner's, the restaurant where I ate lunch while still in the work force....Especially when meatloaf was on the menu...I'd have that as a meatloaf sandwich.

Warmer here now...Let's say "less cold"...but as long as the wind is calm it's really not too bad outside now.  Didn't look, but it must be up around 20.

Coming out of Muncie {west side}, we drive along the Frankfort line of the N S, and where they drop cuts of cars {often}, there were long stretches of cars today....and a train stopped on the main.  As we continued towards home...few miles west of Muncie, we noted another train stopped on the main at Cammac....Seems a bit unusual.  Wonder if a derailment might have occured somewhere......?  It's a single track line.

Evening all......

Well, after the shop had the truck for two weeks, the second day I was out with it I had to have some pulleys and the fan and alternator belt changed, doesn't sound like a stuck pig any more.  In Hebron, IN, thankful I'm not in that snow and ice mess down south, headed for chicagoland tomorrow.

Interesting playoff games these two days, lots of underdogs winning, I may have to run up by Dan's and put him out of his misery, though......

I'd offer everyone a 15-degree beer, but seeing as there is no alcohol permitted here, will keep it in the trailer......

See everyone later.....

Good Monday morning all.  Currently 26 degrees w/cloudy skies.  Going for a high of 32 today, before the snow starts.

Mudchicken, sounds like the snow will be weakening by the time it hits us tomorrow. We're only supposed to see 2 to 4 inches by 10 tomorrow night.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, including muchicken's hot cider and Larry & Tom's hot tea.  Breakfast is on the serving station.

Everybody have a good morning, and I'll see you all later.

P.S.  Good to see Dan, Mookie, mudchicken and Randy in last evening!

Good morning. 27 degrees and snow in Caroina. For us, this is a phenomenum and the place is just about shut down. Apparently , the interstates in the Columbia are virtually invisible with only the ROWs visible.

More later

Good morning all!

Snow is hammering looks like a good portion of us this morning. Best of luck, and God-speed to you all in this nasty weather. NWS says were supposed to receive about 4-5 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow.

Be safe all!
