Barbara & I went to Missouri for a couple of days to cool off. NOT. The Bluegrass festival was great. The afternoon show was brutal for the performers. Home made ice cream was very popular all day long....The Des Moines river is flooded where it joins the Mississippi. We had a long detour.

Hey, I resemble that remark!!! Laugh

Well, back in Wisconsin, and it's still hot out, stopped in Big Cabin, OK yesterday, and felt the asphalt move underfoot as I walked across the parking lot.  Not sure if that's a good sign.....

Finally got a chance to visit Willie's Place in Carl's Corner, TX, Willie Nelson has done a wonderful job on renovating the place, including all the artwork and records on the walls.  The diner and bar are pretty good too, though Willie wasn't in to give a concert.  Place is now added to my list of places to stop at....

Well, dinner, then sleeper, see everyone later....

Birthday greetings to Tom.

Our day, as we're well into it:  86, with sunshine and puffy white clouds.

And, Tom....it sounds like your area must compete with Florida for the crown with the most amount of thunder / lightning, storms.

So nice, Jean had the itch to head to the mall to "look around" and not get the car dirty or in danger of hail.

Happy birthday, Tom!Happy B-DayHappy B-Day

Cool mornings here, though I did open the living room window (facing south) a bit this morning; there is a breeze out of the north. I had a pleasant walk.

Happy B-Day Grandpa Tom!  I think sno-cones are in order.  Ordered cooler weather for all of us.  Should be here starting this weekend.  Forecast sez no snow.  I believe them!

Just .2" of rain here today, mostly this morning.  Since then, it's simply still hot and humid.  Possible thunder boomers tonight...{Scattered}.  Sunny now.  Did I say it's hot.

Well, I made it back from the grocery a little bit ago.  I enjoyed using a laptop, but do like our desktop.  Maybe one of these years, I might get myself a laptop.

Joe, haven't heard the news, so don't know how the Reds did this afternoon.

Here is tonight's supper menu:  Beef pasta w/garden salad and Texas garlic toast..

Dessert:  The following homemade ice creams:  Vanilla, Chocolate, Peach and Strawberry; also some yellow cake w/chocolate icing, peach cobbler and blackberry cobbler.

While I was waiting for the bus, to go to the grocery, it started sprinkling rain, then turned into a very nice shower.  It has cleared the air just a tad bit.  Everyone have a good evening, and take care.

Well Tom, sitting in the "coolness, and "comtemplating" about things  sounds very good. I'm reasonably sure that's what we've tried to do .

(apparently around here an up raised thumb is considered to be an obscene gesture.)(hmmm, go figure, wrong finger!!)

mistakes off of it.

CW should be in sometime shortly, she had to make an unplanned trip out.

Paula, standing beside the road with an upraised thumb works aometines.... Seriously, I am glad it is ready and yall can get things back to normal.

At present, 81 and sunny, headed for 96 later. I should try to go to the grocery store, but this deserves some serious study before going out into this heat. I shall sit under the fan and study on it for a while!

Everyone try to stay cool and stay safe

Hot! Yesterday a crew was putting down new asphalt on Route 17 through town. Hats off to the crew that do that kind of work. I see pretty girls driving the rollers. It's a tough job but somebody has to do it.

Good Wednesday morning everyone.  We are starting out with a temp of 84 degrees, here in Louisville this morning.  Going back up to about 100 degrees again today, with a 30% chance of some showers.

Good news:  our computer is virus free, and ready for us to go pick it up!  Now, to find a ride to go pay the bill and bring our computer home!!  They called somewhere between 4 and 4:30 yesterday, but I couldn't find anyone to take me to get it.  Hopefully, I'll have better luck this morning.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, cereal (Raisin Bran, Cheerios, Special K, etc) , turkey bacon and toast.

Everyone have a good morning, keep cool and take care.

Modelcar
I had a '59 Chevy convertible with a "348" engine and factory 3 - 2's.  It would fly on top end......

My Mom had a '59 Pontiac Catalina with the 389 V-8.

My Aunt was a dedicated Pontiac person...Her first Pontiac was a 1940....Her last a '91 Grand Am....

Murray

Here is a 1957 Chevy Truck Commercial you may get a kick out of:

Spokyone / Murray:

Yes, that 57 Chevy truck commercial is a bit {more than a bit}, corny now...But I enjoyed seening it again....

I just took a pic. of a beautiful 57 Chevrolet pickup at a car meet here on Sunday....

Chevy was advertising trucks in the commercial, even pitching bigger ones, and they really didn't have an engine big enough yet to really do the job....Even used Buick engines in some that year....If I remember correctly, 322 ci. size V8's.  It would be next year until they would get the "W" series big block "truck engine", that was I believe "348" ci. Of course, that engine was put in cars too....I had a '59 Chevy convertible with a "348" engine and factory 3 - 2's.  It would fly on top end......

And that 1964 commercial out west.....What an expense that must have been.....Some of what I mean by back then, they seemed to go to all lengths talking and {showing}, scenes, but realy telling one not much about their vehicles.

The 1964 really was just a very similar rendition of the 62 and 63 models.  1965 brought the big change.  But again, it's fun to see what they were {really}, doing on advertising back then again.

Joe and everyone else:  Salad does sound good for tonight.  Have garden salad, tuna salad, ham salad, fruit salad, and some other kinds of salads.  Think I covered all the bases on different kinds of salad.  Just take your pick of what is on the serving station.  And we have plenty of ice cream for dessert!!!!

Everyone have a good evening, keep as cool as possible, and take care.

The crooks always "buy it" in the big gunfight just before we go into the station.  In between trains, the actors are busy flattening out the "loot" so they can pass it out on the next train and have it stolen all over again....

Re: Spelling - I can remember seeing pictures in the various RR mags of RR cars on which the stencils were applied in the wrong order, or more than once...

Years ago a short stretch (about 75 yards) of a street in the village I lived in needed a center stripe.  Not having access to a line painter, they opted to do it with a brush - with predictable results.

Joe, unfortunately some of "those" people didn't graduate from school. (Apparently, spelling wasn't one of their subjects.)

Now that we actually have AC in the house, really makes us not want to go out on days like today; unfortunately we do have to get out and do things.

Larry, hope they do catch those guys and hope they didn't get away with the days profits!!
