Back to Cincinnati, briefly--I sent the link to Ricki, and she enjoyed seeing it, even though the only time she knows she was in Cincinnati was when she went back to Memphis from NYC via the PRR-L&N through sleeper when she was nineteen (going up to NYC, she went via Knoxville, then to Asheville by car, stopping at Lake Junaluska, and then up to the Big Apple).

This afternoon, Ricki began learning to drive her new electric chair wheelchair that she will use in the living room and kitchen. She has pretty well figured out how to get into it and out of it as she moves to/from her living room chair and her skylift. Driving it backwards (and sometimes driving it forward, since the rear end swings on turns) is another thing.

Good Friday morning everyone.  It's going to be a lovely day:  we have 79 degrees right now, going for a high in the low to mid 80s.  Supposed to get a little bit of rain later on this morning (probably about the time I'm walking over 2 blocks to the doctor's office).  That's okay, I'll have my rain jacket with me.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to pour.  Mookie, here's your coffee mug, all ready for you!

On the serving station this morning:  Doughnuts, danish, muffins, bagels and bear claws for you who want any.  For me, guess it'll be a cup of yogurt, after 7 a.m, due to having taken my antibiotic just after 5 a.m.

Doctor appointment is for 9:45, but think I'm going to walk over like I did the other week, so I'll be there just before they open, and hopefully, I'll be able to get in, get out, and get back home to get the bills paid.

Everyone have a very good morning, and I'll see you all sometime this afternoon.  You all take care!

Good morning. 68 degrees headed for 92 so they say, and the hurricane passed by with no notice here. A century ago, folks would never have known how close it came. Folks on the outer banks know, thp. Apparently they took a pounding in the Hatteras area,

Need to spend the morning switching my ISP. Just haven't felt up to it

A nice morning.  White puffy clouds.  Lots of sunshine.  A/C off, windows open....About 70 earlier, but hunidity doesn't seem too high.

Very dry conditions continue for us, and it appears it will continue thru the weekend or so....

After sitting in the office for two hours, was finally seen by Doc.  Everything good, switching off prescription Naproxyn, going for the generic store brand of Naproxyn, which is a lot cheaper, and less milligrams per caplet.

After I finally got home, tackled the bill paying; now have all bills paid, and we'll be able to go do a little bit of shopping at Wally World in the morning.

Our regularly scheduled Friday Fish Fry is now on the serving station.  All the regular fish menu, side dishes and dessert menus.

Sarah called earlier, they made it to Cincy right at 1300 (1 p.m.) for anyone who doesn't know 24 hour time.  She'll probably be back home sometime Sunday morning.

There is a very good breeze blowing outside!  I'm not sure what the current temp is, but it feels very nice outside.  Everyone enjoy your evening, and take care.

Good evening. I have spent the entire day trying to get my new ISP (AT&T) to work on email. After the first two hours, I was about ready to tell them to put it where the sun don't shine. Here we go, a brand new subscriber with email problems and they apparently don't care one whit. I spoke with a half dozen reps who made that quite plain. They also wanted $30 to coach me through getting the stupid program to work. I finally got it to work halfway, but it is a royal pain in the lobotomus to use. AT&T, be advised that I still have my RoadRunner and may go back to it. It ain't over till it's over! End soapbox!!

The boffins are projecting a sunny and mild weekend, with low humidity. That means that the beach ain't the place to be. I doubt that there will be a place to walk there. A friend has the right idea. Jetski to a sandbar in a local river and spend the day there. All the benefits without the crowds and aggravation.

Everyone take care and have a great labor day weekend. Meanwhile, I shall renew my fight with AT&T and see what happens this time.

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Nice and chilly this a.m., with a temp of of about 62, 64 degrees.  It is going to be a really beautiful day. We (U of L and UK) have the big football game rivalry this afternoon:  The Governor's Cup kick-off begins at 3:30.  I doubt that Walt and I will be watching the game, but we will be rooting for UK.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready, including some hot chocolate this morning.

On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, country fried ham w/red eye gravy, pancakes w/your choice of fresh fruit, maple or blueberry syrup, or maybe you might want jam/jelly or preserves on your pancakes.

Everyone have a terrific day, see you tonight for our pizza fest, and take care.

.....Sunny / partly sunny for next 4 or 5 days here....But things are changing.  From {hot}, to Fall like this morning.  57 degrees was our low.  But it's warming up, with bright sunshine.  But the cost of it is very dry now.

At least, it appears the Labor Day holiday weekend will be ok for outdoor activities.

.......Finally.  Took advantage of the cooler weather and finished trimming the last of my shrubs....7 of them.  Finish...that's all folks, for this season....Back breaking job.....at least for mine it is.

Pretty puffy very white clouds floating by still with lots of sunshine.  Clear blue sky.   And of course, that means low{er}, humidity.

Howdy. Peace be with you. 86 and Sunny in Carolina. Nice outside on the breezeway.

I got my problem with email solved. After a prayer last night, I woke up with the answer. Turns out that not every setting that worked with roadrunner works with AT&T. I woke up with the realization that the way it was acting was because something was telling it to do it that way. After that, it was less than 5 minutes before the problem was found. Now, I am happy with the ISP but the ATT customer service still stinks big time. I guess tho, that I'll keep it unless something else rears its head.

For the moment tho, I do not have a fone at the desk, since the DSL was connected. It is amazing how many times I reach for the thing before I realize that it is dead. Need to go and get another fone line extention to get it working again.

Everyone take care and have a great long weekend

Our current temp is in the mid 70s, with light blue skies and the puffy clouds, just like Quentin has up in Muncy, Ind.  Walt and I are two very tired people.  We caught first bus, about 12:20, then caught second bus about 1:20 or so, and went to Walmart.  Got our shopping done, caught the bus back home.  We transferred to wait for the bus to bring us a half block from home, and had to wait about 45 minutes for it.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza menu:

1.  Canadian bacon

2.  Cheese

3.  Chicago style

4.  Goetta

5.  Hawaiian

6.  Pepperoni/mushroom

7.  Italian sausage

8.  Supreme

For dessert tonight:  peach cobbler w/ice cream (think I'll have chocolate ice cream on my cobbler).

Everyone have a terrific evening, enjoy your supper, and take care.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Joe, thanks for taking care of breakfast this morning:  everything looks really good this morning!

We are starting out with 54 degrees here in Louisville.  I guess that temp is the official out at the airport, where the National Weather office is.  Because our thermometer is showing 57 degrees outside.  Going for a high of 83, 84 degrees for today.

I don't know for sure what time Sarah got in this morning.  Walt said he was up reading until about 1:15, and she wasn't in then.  A noise woke me up around 3, 3:30 or so, and I heard her moving around.  Turned over and went right back to sleep.

Everyone have a great morning, keep safe whatever/wherever you go this morning, and take care.

Sunday Dinner will be later this afternoon than usual:  I need to go to the grocery, and figure out what I want to fix for today.

Good afternoon. 82 degrees and sunny in Carolina. Nice outside at present. I had a pleasant night out in the presence of some BBQ ribs and shrimp. Not that often anymore that we can get large shrimp on the bar.

Think I will collect the girls and then take a nap. Everybody take care

Well, made it to the grocery, and am back home.  Been back for a couple of hours, been helping Walt get a couple of things done. Feels very good outside, nice gentle breeze, and plenty of sunshine.  Heat and humidity will be back in the picture sometime Tuesday or Wednesday.  Yuck!

For our Sunday Dinner today, we are grilling out:

On today's menu:  Sirloin steaks and chicken breasts, w/grilled corn on the cob, and we also have green beans, broccoli w/cheese sauce, mashed taters and cinnamon applesauce.

Desserts today:  Chocolate cake w/white icing and yellow cake w/chocolate icing, w/ice cream.

Everyone enjoy your meal, the rest of your afternoon and take care.

Grilling out in the Central Adirondacks today involved wearing a parka and having an umbrella at the ready.

It was 48F when I got up about 0630, and only 55 when we wrapped up our busy day on the railroad (which included one sold-out trip for which we had to turn people away.  They came back later).

I want to tell you that standing in the door of our baggage car, "calling" our southbound push moves, was a bone chilling experience.  Being the only on-train qualified "employee," (the engineer was, of course, in the cab of the locomotive) meant I had to do all three trips.   Brrrrrr!

Home now, and about to settle into a nice, warm waterbed.

Jim, like Quentin said, I hope and pray that your next surgery will be the last one you need.  Glad to hear that they caught it still in stage 1.

We have a temp of 61 degrees here in Louisville at 6:11 a.m.  Going up to upper 80s, possibly 90 for a high today.  Supposed to have the showers coming in late afternoon/evening tomorrow.  We sure could use the rain.  It is really dry around here.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.  Larry, have some hot tea ready for you!  On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, sausage, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.

Larry, would some beef stew and cornbread help to warm you up today?  If so, that's what I'll make for lunch/supper today. And, since it'll be close to 90 around here, I'll probably grill out again this afternoon.  More steak, chicken, and maybe add some burgers and hot dogs to the menu.

Everyone have a good day, and I'll see you all later.  Mookie, here's your coffee mug, ready to go!
