Wow - if it is Tuesday, it must be chocolate!

Happy Birthday, Joe.  We had more rain in your honor.  Sending it on to you.

A chocolate fountain!!!  Now I know what to put on my Xmas wish list.  Approve

Lurch and a Jeep - were there nuptials we didn't know about, Sir C?  Net always in position.  Unfortunately not always the right position.

Despite the 3H weather, we are off to bookstore.  Almost out of books to read and that would be a major disaster.  Plus need a big cup of coffee to continue thru my day.

Papa gets some private time.  The newly expanded family is off on a shopping excursion.  But, I found I have a leaky tire, so off to the tire shop (free repair coupon in hand) to deal with that and a few other things I could stand to take care of.

Hot here today, but the forecast is for hotter tomorrow.  Might have to head back north just to cool off.

Similar heat for this area is on the way....92 today and up to 95 tomorrow.

Overnight, we've accumulated 1.4" of rain....I heard none of it....Just a few lightning flashes / thunder.  But Jean said it carried on most of the night.

As of now, we're several inches over the "normal" rainfall to this point in June.  But boy....the fields of corn are sure liking it.  Extremely high and thick and nice and deep green.  Some 6' already in our central In. area here.  Very warm and humid temps. must be the ideal corn growing weather.  Our yard too.  As for that, I'm not complaining....I like it to to be green and healthy......I can sure mow it.

Trouble is, along with all of the above....there have been some areas here in Indinana that have had power line....tree....building roofs, etc....damage from a few tornados and simply high straight line winds.

Jean's patch of Cosmos wild flowers at the one spot we have them, are sure growing and producing those nice flowers too....

Here is our lunch/supper menu as per Joe's request for today:

Mookie, thanks for helping with the cake this morning.  And I bet you really enjoyed getting the rest of the chocolate frosting that was left in the mixing bowl!!Big Smile

BURGERS, HOT DOGS AND FRIES (with some garden salad added to the menu), and, of course, for dessert:  chocolate cake (cake is chocolate, and so is the icing!)

We had 62 people at Produce this morning.  Not much was delivered, though:  some potatoes, carrots, french onion dip and the big bags of chopped lettuce, along with stalks of romaine letuce.  But we did run out of everything, I believe, when we were through.

I'm glad it was semi-cool this morning, as we had to have the produce outside.  The summer school session for the kids, called Fredom School, was going on in the gym, so we couldn't go in at all.

Everyone have a good afternoon ,and I'll see you all after awhile.

Afternoon all.

Happy Birthday Joe!

Mother Nature sure hammered us last night! I’ve never seen such a constant display of lightning! The little town in which I reside was hit by a super cell containing rotation. We had the fire radio in hand listening carefully. Several of our county policemen reported snapped power lines, and one of the fire departments got toned out (dispatched) to a fire containing flaming downed power lines. The storm passed, but not without flooding the surrounding low areas. Crops will be lost from this storm.

Have a good evening all.

-Justin

After returning home from VBS today I snapped a few photo’s of the flooding.

This is Coal Creek. It floods almost every rain we get, but NEVER this bad. This is a cow pasture in a valley the creek has cut out over many many years. See the the tops of the fence posts... they are up on a hillside, so i imagine that the water is a good 10 feet deep.

This is the far side of the bridige at Coal Creek. The water current is so strong here that it has washed old corn stalks out of the fields and bunched them up against the fence row.

Good morning from Carolina. It seems that I am first here, so conside the place open. Breakfast is on the buffet bar and the drinks are at the gedunk (soda fountain) and cooler. Help yourselves.

Justin, that is some lake there that the crick made. I heard of a cow pasture not too long ago that flooded so bad that the cows swam over the fences and got out! I hope you folks don't see something like that. Nice pix by the way.

77 and cloudy in Carolina, expected to get into the 90s again and a thunderstorm again in the afternoon.

My cousin's son won the runoff for Rep nominee for Atty General in the gen election. That means dad is running for reelection to congress and son in his first election.

Everyone take care and have a great day.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Very nice pictures, Justin!  Thankfully, when I lived on the farm, we never had any flooding anywhere near like your pictures show!  If we had, I probably wouldn't be here today, as I can't swim a lick, as the old saying goes.

Tom, thanks for taking care of breakfast.  I guess I've been up about an hour, but am moving very slowly this morning.  There's another old saying that goes "I feel like I've been run over by a truck."  Not a part of me, that doesn't ache this morning.

It's going to be another hot, hazy and humid day around here today.  And I imagine where most of you all live, also!  Everyone keep as cool as possible, and there's plenty of water, Gatorade, lemonade, iced tea so we can all stay hydrated.  Take care, and I'll see you all later.

At 1:14 p.m., we have a current temp of 91 degres, supposed to get to 98 or 99 this afternoon.  (yeeuuuuch)  Although, we do have a little bit of a breeze blowing outside.  Definitely not cooling anyone or anything, though.

The menu for the rest of the day:

Meat loaf w/mashed taters & gravy, your choice of green beans, broccoli w/cheese sauce, creamed corn, and your choice of corn bread, buttermilk biscuits, dinner rolls or just plain ole bread, and a nice, cold garden salad.

Not much going on around our area.  I think everyone is staying in their homes, trying to stay as cool as possible.  Bet it is crowded today at the library, as they have nice central air to keep everyone cool.

You all enjoy your afternoon, keep cool and take care.

You don't know what you've got until you lose it, (Song by Ral Donner 1960). Last night, a tree fell on the power lines somewhere close by, and brought them down. we were without power for about an hour and a half. I can handle no lights, but no air conditioning in this weather is the pits. In less than an hour, the inside humidity felt like a swamp and things were getting dicey, at best. When Progress Energy got things back on line, there was a miniature praise-a-thon here. I grew up in a house with no a/c, and summers were relatively comfy. Have things changed so much in 60 years or is this another sign of getting old?

Afternoon all.

What a hot, and awful day. We got up to 95* today with a dewpoint of 79. I mowed, the lawn, and weeded the garden, and I was pooped! This humidity is awful. Although I really don’t mind working in it, it is just really uncomfortable. Might go for a bike ride later. See you all later.

Cannonball:

So far in June we've been getting a repeat almost each day after the heating of the afternoon sets in and generates plenty of thunderstorms.  Some tornado's too.

Some parts of Indiana have had some rather bad flooding and some high winds with power lines and trees down.  Of course any place that takes a hit from tornados will be even worse.

We here have been lucky....The stuff has been real spoty.  Here the other day I had .4" in the rain gauge, and 5.5 miles to downtown Muncie it was almost 2".

As for Connersville....I have not heard of specific damage called out from down there.  In fact, we're getting some thunder right now....It was 92 plus degrees here today and of course with lots of humidity.

I'll keep my ears open, for any word from down in Connersville, and If I hear of any, i'll put it on here...

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  We have 83 degrees this morning, with some rain/t-storms supposed to come in sometime this morning.  Our projected high today is 90 degrees.  So we'll be a bit 'cooler' today, with rain coming in.  I might have a little bit of trouble getting my walk in this morning, depending on how much rain we do get.  Been trying to get a little bit of walking in, before it gets too hot and humid.

Sarah is out on the train.  Got called out for a trip on the shortline to Cincy.  She had to be in at 6 p.m, Guess we'll see her sometime tomorrow.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, including mudchicken's blue Gatorade.

On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.  And, as per norm, there are boxes of cereal for anyone who wants a bowl or two of cereal this morning.

Everyone have a good morning, and you all keep safe and take care.

A severe storm went through yesterday afternoon but Aledo missed the brunt of it. Boy scouts down from Rockford were at the local KOA. Most of the group went to the concrete shower house for safety. Four leaders decided to hold down the big awning. Yep. It got hit by lightning. They are going to be OK.

Morning. Sounds like you folks in Ohio and Indiana had a memorable night. Our storm never came except for a non event that passed south of us. Presently 86 and sunny in Carolina, expected high of 99 and another thunderstorm later.

Paula, thanks for breakfast. Everyone take care and stay cool

Most likely some folks here in Indiana did have more strong and some distructive weather overnight.  Most of it missed us {again}...Thankfully.

Rain gauge had .35" overnight.

Temps are about 10 degrees below what we had at comparable times yesterday.  Wanted to finish up shrub trimming with the cooler temps, but everything is so wet.....Not mixing that with an electric trimmer.  We'll catch it soon....Hopefully.

Did visit my barber this morning and don't have much left to deal with now....No bother either.

Item:  Just peeked over on Roanoke rail cam, and saw 3 movements in 5 min.....2 at once.  Hope it continues to work....It looked really nice {for weather}, there this morning.

No storms in MD last night, but the day was definitely "3H".

99 here at 1 pm.  And that's definitely in the shade.  At least it's not quite as humid.

Driving home tomorrow.  The gas mileage will probably be pretty bad, as I'm sure the A/C will be running most of the way.

Had a good time with the little ones - held the baby for about 2 hours last night as she napped.  Wonderful feeling.  Not gonna miss the whiny side of the two-year-old, though.  When she's good, she's great, but...

Today I had Vacation Bible School (VBS). I was made the official photographer of the event, which lasts all week, and I’m excited to be a part of glorifying the Lord our God to the younger children of our community.

It sounds as though you are having a wonderful week. I remember the Vacation Bible Schools I attended back when I was young. Our church (Presbyterian) did not have enough children to hold its own (we had one class with five children in it), so I attended the Methodist and Baptist schools.

Incidentally, one of the Methodist pastors, back in the late forties, was John Sandlin (this was in South Carolina). I wonder if he could be any kin to you.

To quote A. A. Milne (perhaps not 100% accurately): "There was a little girl who had a curl, right in the middle of her forehead. When she was good, she was very, very good, but when she was bad she was horrid"? I am sure something like that could have been said of me.

Brian: One guy went to hospital for hearing loss & dizziness. The other guys said it was a little like sticking your finger on 110V only worse. Initial reports of severe injuries were false. They were lucky indeed.
