Ooooh!  CB, medium well, swiss cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato.  Actually, some bacon would be good, too!  And onion rings.  My virtual arteries are going to take a beating tonight!

Just back from the bylaw meeting.   It's now my job to turn the proposed changes into resolutions so we can vote on them at the next board meeting.  This'll take some time.

Good evening, everyone.  Walt and I have had a very busy day.  We're getting a new furnace, so we've had to move things around, etc., to get ready for the furnace to be installed.  We have worked our hind ends off, believe you me!  I think we are both tea totally worn out.

Supper tonight:  burgers, cheeseburgers, and your choice of fries or onion rings, with garden salad.

Believe it or not, our official high today reached 50 degrees!!  It was down right balmy today.  Won't have that temp again tomorrow, though, as we're to start getting off and on drizzle sometime after midnight.

Everyone have a very good evening, stay warm, keep safe and take care.

Sunshine plus today here in central Indiana.....Well accepted too....and the much warmer temps...To be a bit above 40 by late afternoon.

January is moving right along.....Wonderful.  Gaining daylight now both morning and evening....sneaking up now on a total increase of daylight to near half an hour.

Willy - At least you can use the Spanish, although the Latin I took in HS has come in handy from time to time....

Still some freezing drizzle in the forecast, but so far it's had no effect here.  We're actually teasing the freezing mark right now.   I should go clean some of that packed snow off the driveway!

In the meantime, though, I've got to muddle through some proposed changes to our EMS squad's bylaws.

Happy belated birthday, Johnny! Happy B-Day

Well, second semester is underway. My classes this semester are Psychology, Sociology, World Literature One, Calculus II, and Spanish. Every student must complete at least one semester of a foreign language, whether they want to or not, so I'm stuck with it, despite the fact that I already took four years of Spanish in high school. This is also the only semester out of my entire college career that there are no atmospheric sciences courses. I did luck out with Calculus. My first Calculus class was supposed to be today, but the professor is out of town, so the start of the class is delayed until Tuesday.

The weather has warmed up considerably. Our high yesterday was 41 degrees and we're headed for the mid 30s today. I thanked my friend from Tuscon, Arizona for bringing some nicer weather back to Omaha with him when he came back from winter break.

Hope everyone has a great day today!

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Joe, you're welcome, and Johnny, I'm glad I remembered the little thing about pineapple upside down cake!  Glad to know you enjoyed your birthday.

As Joe said, there's plenty of oatmeal, toast, bagels, bear claws, and the other breakfast items on the serving station, along with the coffee, juices, and hot beverages.

Think I'm ready for a "nap" myself, Joe.  Everyone have a good morning, stay warm, keep safe and take care.

Johnny - Happy Birthday!

I'm not sure who sent us the freezing drizzle, but you can have it back.  At least I got my shopping, etc, done first.  Could make for an interesting night.   Gotta decide if I want to pre-treat the driveway.   I saw a state DOT truck out today with nothing but salt in the spreader...

Hey everyone.  Made it back in, after all.  And, before I forget to mention it, again, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY , DEGGESTY!! Happy B-DayHappy B-DayHappy B-DayHappy B-Day

I also forgot to ask you what your favorite meal would be for today, and your favorite birthday dessert.  But, I hope you will like what we have in store today:  Walt has made his grandmother's spaghetti casserole, and we have fresh garden salad, and your choice of Italian bread, garlic bread, or garlic Texas toast.

Dessert:  How about chocolate cake w/white frosting, pineapple upside down cake, and yellow cake w/chocolate frosting

Johnny, hope your birthday is being a very good one so far, and that you are enjoying it to the fullest!!

Thanks, Paula. I did have boiled corned beef on my birthday last month. Chocolate cake is one of my favorites--and I do not get enough pineapple upside cake (once, when I was in college, I had more than I could eat at supper and--horror of horrors--I did the forbidden and took a bowl of it to my room to eat later, and managed to get the empty bowl back without being detected; our waitress almost always would bring me a bowl of dessert in addition to the little bowl of it that everyone was served).

It's good to hear that you have received good medical reports. Keep the good work up.

Johnny

Happy Birthday DEGGESTY!

Afternoon all.

Having problems with the internet now. That’s why I haven’t been able to get on.

There is a big dust collector fire here at the local steel mill in Attica IN. Attica VFD just got toned out, and also advising at this time they can’t get the main gate open, so the have to use the east gate.

Have a good evening

Justin

Sorry, Larry, they sent me to a place across town today,

No big deal.  I know you wander up this way from time to time, so I thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity for a face-to-face should it arise.

After I finish up my bearclaw, it't time for errands.

Sorry, Larry, they sent me to a place across town today, loading for places colder (it was colder in Atlanta than in Buffalo this morning, don't hear about that often).  Good thing, too, because I think my bunk heater just went on the fritz, it's having a hard time lighting off.

About the boy who went through the ice, found out last night my sister knew the family, she had one of the siblings in daycare.  The part of the river where he fell in is a prety swift section of river, the only reason there was ice on it was because of an ice jam, probably at either the CN/WC bridge, or the old Milwaukee Road bridge.  I'd prefer to do my ice fishing the Foster Brooks way- by the time I got done cutting a hole in the ice for the boat, I'd be too tired to fish!

Well, see everyone later....

Good Wednesday morning, all.  I was finally able to get in here, after several tries this morning.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and other hot beverages are ready to go; and on the serving station, you'll find all the regular breakfast items.

Still fighting this virus on the puter, hope we get it straightened out soon.

Everyone have a good morning/day, and I'll try to get back in later to post our lunch and supper menus.

A nippy one here tonight.  As of this moment, we have no temperature at all (0F).  Projected low is -2, but that's at the airport.  We'll probably see less.

I've been getting spam telling me that the settings for one of my email accounts have been changed.  If I'd just gotten one, I might have been tempted to bite, but when I see several in one day, all with a slightly different format, I know they're bogus.

Besides, I administer this particular account...

Lots to accomplish tomorrow.  Time to head for bed.

afternoon

went out and got the salt of the buick at the carwash. As for ice fishing last year near port clinton had a group of fisherman caught on an ice flow. They used planks to get from shore to the ice island. It broke off sending them into Lake Erie. All were rescued. There extra equipment was left on the flow.County officals decided to put in a "stupidity" clause for ice rescues. If it was found you shouldn't have been out on the ice,you are going to get a big ticket. Cw thanks for supper tonight.Time to get ready for work.

Those "thru the ice" tragedy reports are troubling, but I understand it happens each season.  When I see photos of people ice fishing, etc....and near by 4-wheelers parked {on the ice}, and so on....That just seems {to me}, to be taking uneeded chances with peoples lives.  See such up in Michigan quite often in this season.

As I drove across the bridge across Lake Champlain a couple of weeks ago I saw a number of ice fishermen, some with shanties, on the ice in a small bay, within sight of open water.  There were also some 4-wheelers and even a regular truck out there, too.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Joe, thanks for taking care of breakfast.  We are having some computer issues, so that's why I wasn't in this morning, before Tuesday Produce.  We seem to have contracted a virus, that somehow managed to get through our McAfee Security Virus.  Internet provider said they have gotten several calls on this particular virus (Beware of anything saying "Personal Security)!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still working on getting rid of it, so you all know what is happening, if you don't see Walt and me on here much for the next little bit.

We had 46 people for Produce today.  Not too bad, considering all this cold weather.  I did find out that I was really missed last week.  The older lady who took over writing the names down, and calling the people up, had a little bit of trouble, because the people weren't listening to her, and going on up to get stuff, when they had not been called.  Didn't have too much of a problem with that today, although there were a few who managed to slip in "under the radar", before their names were called.  Guess next week, I'll have to "Put the fear of the little Indian's wrath" in them all.

For lunch and supper today, I've got a big ole pot of cabbage on, with a brisket roasting in the oven.  We also have burgers, fries, roasted red potatoes, broccoli, brussels sprouts, lima beans, and cream style corn w/homemade buttermilk biscuits.

Desserts:  chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, yellow cake w/caramel icing, and the following cobblers:  apple, blueberry, cherry,  and peach.

Randy ,so very sorry to hear about your neighbor.  I'll be praying for the family.

Everyone have a nice afternoon, and I'll try to be back in later.

Here, we have a sunshine morning.  Temp dropped to 16 plus right at sunup, but we're to be in a slow warmup today and on thru this week.

One of the things I need to do is get my little truck thru the car wash, to get the salt off of it...Car hasn't been out in it.

That's the third "through the ice" incident I've heard of in the past few days, with a toll of something like five now.

It doesn't take much ice to hold you up, but it does take enough.  When you add snowmobiles, four wheelers, or just more people, things can get dicey in a hurry.

You also have to be cautious in areas where ice fishing is popular - they do, after all, cut holes in the ice.  Just had one of those here (he survived).

Evening all.....

Cold here, about 20 outside in Perrysburg, OH, but tonight is the first night since Thursday night that the semi has been shut off.  Had some sad news, the day before I left out, an 8 year old boy fell through the ice on the river a few blocks from my apartment, they found his body just after I left for work on Tuesday the 5th.  Thoughts and prayers are with the family....

Off to Buffalo, NY, in the morning, see everyone later...
