Evening all.....

Larry, glad I got out of Baldwinsville when I did, even then, the crosswind today was a fighter.  Decided to take the eastern route down to Macon, GA, now, looking at the weather report, glad I did.  Don't care to be in the snow with a heavy load.

Well, off to bed, going to fly down I-95 in the morning, take care......

Randy - It wasn't bad first thing this morning, but then that wind did kick up (and it's still blowing pretty good here).  I can appreciate what you're dealing with with a truck, even our little rescue truck (10' high) can be a handful in a crosswind.

The worst part was that 6" of snow getting lifted up and blown around.

Drive safe.

My daughter and her husband are looking for a house.  One area they're considering is B'ville...

Good Friday morning, everyone.  Randy, glad to see you could make it in here last night.  Wishing you a very safe trip on your run(s) this weekend.

Coffee, juices and other hot beverages are fresh and on the serving station, along with bagels, bear claws, assorted doughnuts, danish and muffins.

When I woke up this morning, we were at 16 F degrees; still quite breezy outside.  But, the snow won't show up until later this afternoon, early evening, probably around 5 or 6 p.m.  By the time the snow is through sometime tommorrow afternoon, they say we'll end up with about 4 inches.  The southern part of KY will accumulate 8 to 10 inches.

The workmen will be back this morning, hopefully to totally finish up.  So guess one of you will have take take charge of our Friday Fish Fry for lunch/dinner for me, and I should be able to come in later, and get it going for dinner/supper time.

Mookie, here's your coffee mug, all clean and ready for you.  And when they get all this work done around the house, maybe we can start back getting together in the mornings and watch the trains go by.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Roused from bed for a near head-on crash.  Significant damage to both vehicles (including one that had the engine ripped out), but relatively minor injuries to both drivers.  Haven't heard what caused it yet.

Errands to run today.  Sunny but cold (10AM, still -2F), so they won't be the chore they'd have been yesterday.

Tree - I have trouble getting out of our warm bed at 5 am - can't imagine having to get out, jump into clothes and blast out of the house during the middle of the nite.  I think people should drive until dark and then quit for the nite.

Definitely would make it quieter here at nite w/o traffic on our street.

CW - holiday on trains today.  Haven't heard any all morning.  And we aren't even having any bad weather.  Cloudy and cold, but just normal winter "stuff".  Maybe they are waiting for us to get trackside tomorrow.

Joe - joe, please and thank you.

Randy ; cheap thrill time. Is your tlr. a high cube with air suspention ?? That is not a good thing in a crosswind.  We saw a few on their side in the Panhandle of Okla. I had a flatbed w/ air  and almost as bad at times, depending on how high the load was. Keep the rubber down and the shiny side up. LOL

.......12 degrees early this morning, but no snow or wind.  Up to 17 now.

Overcast, but getting lighter to the point sunshine will soon break thru.

That nasty line of ice storm from northern Texas over to the Carolina's is south of us....That must be terrible.  We did experience that back in 2005 and about 120,000 customers in Muncie area were without power for up to 10 days....!  It looks like we'll escape this one.

Joe - thanx for blanket - it gets around zero at nite - so blanket will feel very good.

Sounds like they are going to do a little track repair in your town?  Or just outside your town?  Or just rest in your town?  Or?

CW - we have had sun all day!  Your state is all blue - I don't want whatever you are having!

Mookie, I don't want the stuff either, but guess we're going to get a little bit of the white stuff anyway.  Now, they are saying we'll only  end up with 1 to 3 inches, when it's through sometime tomorrow night, early Sunday morning.

Joe, thanks for taking care of the Friday Fish Fry.  Think I'll take a piece of cod, and a little bit of cole slaw.  Not feeling up to par tonight, and don't want a whole lot on my tum-tum.

The workmen, before they left, "cleaned up after themselves", and when they left, Walt and I had to clean up some more.  We swept, where they had used the big shop vac.  Think we did a better job.

Everyone have a good evening ,stay warm, and take care.

We do do that, but this one was at 7:30 in the morning.  One of the drivers hit some ice and crossed into the opposite lane.  At first we thought the sun may have been a factor, as it was still low on the horizon and reflecting off the wet/icy road surface.

It being -2F didn't help any.

Look for the guy in the flourescent yellow jacket helping bring one of the drivers out of the dark car.  That's me.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Well, I decided to sleep in this morning, and that's just what I did.  I didn't wake up until 7:30.  So the coffee is dripping into the carafe, and I'm just now getting started on the rest of breakfast.  It'll be ready shortly.  On the menu this morning:

country fried steak, country fried pork chops, fried taters, scrambled eggs, grits, red eye gravy, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits, milk gravy, and the following jellies and preserves:  grape, strawberry, mixed fruit, blackberry and apple butter.  There's plenty of  real butter for the biscuits.

When I got up earlier, heard we have three inches of snow on the ground, and looking out the window at Sarah's Jeep, I believe that's a pretty good estimate.  There have been numerous accidents this morning (enough that the police aren't going to respond to anything except injury accidents), several of the high school basketball games for this morning have been cancelled, and several churches with activities this morning have been cancelled.  But the snow has just about ended in our area, and moving on out of here, so maybe things will get back to normal on the roadways here in a couple, three hours.

Everyone have a great day, keep safe and warm, and I'll see you all back in here this evening for our pizza fest.

Good morning from the frozen wastelands of South Dakota! I'm getting a little tired of winter, as I am sure everyone else is, but it is supposed to warm up to about 22 degrees F. this Wednesday afternoon. I leave for Gillette, Wyoming next Saturday morning, where the temps will be in the upper 30's for much of this week. I will get to spend a weekend with a niece of mine who lives in Sheridan, which is in Wyoming's bighorn mountains, and I am looking forward to doing a bit of outdoor photography. No telling what I will see when it comes to trains.

Paula, breakfast was real good this morning, thanks for all the effort you put into it!

Brrrrr.   New record low at the airport of -24F.  High today forecast at +9F.   Don't let the sunny skies fool you.

Good Morning All:

Currently 36 and sunny here in Alamo City...the overnight low was 31...there was frost on the cars.

We had 2 days of steady cold rain here...all the bad weather passed to the north of us...unfortunately Oklahoma got smacked pretty bad with snow and ice..

Now the storm is hitting from eastern Kentucky to the Carolinas up to the Tidewater.

If its snowing on you...BE CAREFUL...and if you don't absolutely have to travel...DON'T!

Off to a lunch and a train show in about a hour or so with my little nephew...Maybe with luck we'll get to see a "big train" too!  Smile

Enjoy your Saturday!

Morning, 31 and ice in Carolina at present. I don't know the projected high, but tonight is supposed to be in the lower 20s.

Ray, I bet the trip to Wyoming will be like a veritable heat wave after SD. Hope you find some willing subjects for your photography.

I spoke with Adrian on Facebook and he allowed that it is REALLY cold where he is. He hopes to be home by spring.

CW, thanks for breakfast and for being there. Take care and stay warm.

....Sounds like some of you folks are in a real icebox.  Here, we have bright sunshine and cold temps....Actually about normal in temps.  16 early this morning and slowly climbing today....Won't get too warm.  But light overcast and blue skies and no snow last night or today.

That ice storm area moving across somewhat south of us is causing bad situations for sure...

Daylight is increasing rather well now.....chasing our way towards Spring.

Morning all.

I was going to go camping last night, but Mom said I couldn’t go because of this nasty cough I have. I think I have a touch of bronchitis.

Nevertheless, we have a new addition to our family. She is a little Miniature Pincher. Her name is Lady, and she is just over 7 lbs. She is so adorable! I really like her, and so do mom and dad.

Have a good day all.

Afternoon everyone....

Cannonball, I pull 53 foot dry vans, some with air ride, some are spring ride.  I don't notice the trailer as much as the cab of the truck, which tends to rock more in the wind.

About 35 here in Cartersville, GA, was raining earlier, could tell by the number of cars slid into the tree line on the interstate, they think that down here one can do 80 on a rain-slicked road and still go around a curve.  Waiting for the mess north of me to clear out, don't care to pull a light load in an ice storm.  Yesterday it was announced that I-40 was closed from Amarillo to the Oklahoma line, due to ice.  Sure there were many more, this could also make life interesting for the crews that are working on I-40 in North Carolina, as they bolt the side of the mountain together using 130-foot long bolts.

Thanks for the pizza, see everyone later.....

Murray - lived in western OK for a year (so did Tree, I believe) - loved the weather there since it only snowed at most 3 inches per year and rained almost every nite during the summer.  Guess I will scratch that off my list of places to retire...

Sarah and I tackled the snow around here.  I took the broom and swept off the front porch, front steps, and part of the front sidewalk, leading to the street sidewalk, and Sarah took the snow shovel and finshed that, and shoveled the other sidewalk along the north side of the house.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza menu:

1.  Cheese w/extra cheese

2.  Goetta

3.  Hawaiian

4.  Pepperoni/mushroom

5.  Supreme

6.  Italian sausage calzones

7.  Special (with everything on it)

Everyone enjoy your pizzas, have a good evening, keep safe and take care.

Two years at Tinker AFB in OKC.  The area was paralyzed one year between Christmas and New Years (IIRC) due to a six inch snowfall.  I thought it was great sport.

Of course, what they lack in snow they make up in tornados...

Did I mention it's cold here?  It's 1 AM (just got back from our PBS station and their on-air antique auction), and it's -14F...

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  We have  clear skies, and a temp of 8 degrees.  Supposed to get up to the upper 20s for a high today, then in the mid to upper 30s tomorrow.

At least I know how to type:  because I seem to have awakened this morning, without a voice.  Tried to talk to the male cat, and could barely whisper.

Coffee, juices, and other hot beverages are all fresh and ready to go.

On the serving station this morning:  fresh-from-the-oven cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins and chocolate chip muffins, along with bacon ,sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy.

Do I have any requests for our Sunday Dinner?  If so, please let me know.

Think I'm going to go feed the dog and cats, and go back to bed.  Maybe when I wake back up, I'll have a voice again.  Everyone enjoy your breakfast, have a good morning, keep safe and take care.
