Well, CW WAS logged in/on, reading and getting ready to reply but seems her "Ride" to her Dr's. app. showed up a bit early! She asked me to "Post" the lunch menu; which will be plenty of beef stew, vegetable soup, and chilli!
[this is an unexpected Dr's. app. for her....seems she fell on that knee over this last weekend, and Dr. decided he wanted to she her, so he could make sure his work didn't get messed up!]
Larry, that pic. is Priceless!!! Congratulations!!

Big announcement from the house of Tree:

Earlier this morning....12 degrees and still some wind, but not like yesterday. I noted {yesterday}, of gusts over 50....Correction: Over 60....!
Partly sunny this morning and the sunshine really feels good streaming in the windows....With so much wind, it was difficult to say what amount of snow we received here, but i'm recording 1/2" on my unofficial chart I keep here for the season.
I know when I walked out for the paper this morning, it was very cold with still some wind whipping around. Don't hear much of the wind in the house we're thankful for the warm home. Guess some prep for Winter does make a difference. Many years ago, we had storm windows made to install where the screens are in the Summer time....over the thermopane windows. Every bit helps to fight off the nasty frigid wind we get out here......
Current temp: 14.4 F.

Good morning,
It's a balmy five degrees below zero here in Omaha, as of 9:45 AM.
Well, this is the most snow I've ever driven in, but I'm happy to report that I made the ten mile trek to school without any problems. There were several accidents being cleaned up though. Now I just need to get back home in one piece this afternoon.
Willy

Willy2I can't believe that all of our local school districts are closed for a third day in a row tomorrow. Since I'm a big boy in college now, I'll have to go classes.
As noted on the "Blizzard" thread, your storm is fully here now. Lake effect snow and high winds should make life interesting.
Good morning. 52 and clear at sunrise in Carolina for a Thursday morning. It's not supposed to get to 60 today and then 20s tonight. We shall see.
Well, the SC Gamecocks are going to the Papa Johns.com bowl, whatever that is. This brings up a good question. Whatever happened to the old bowls like sugar, gator, rose, bluebonnet, etc. Now it is so and so .com and the old nostalgic names are gone by the board in favor of all inclusive advertising gimmicks. We are less for that. End of soapbox.
Everyone have a great day and take care. Stay warm
Tom

rvos1979 CW, if I don't make it on here again before Saturday, you can make pepper steak one night, just save me some for the next time I manage to get in. Thanks in advance.

Good Brrrrrrr Thursday morning, everyone. Even our computer is running slow this morning. We have 23 degrees this morning, here in Louisville, going for a high of 29.
Randy, I've made the notation for your birtday dinner Saturday. Glad to know you're making your runs without mishap. Keep up the good work.
Coffee, hot chocolate and hot water for hot tea are ready to go, as well as orange juice, orange/tangerine and the other juices we have available.
On the warmer bar this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, oatmeal and toast.
Everyone enjoy your breakfast, have a good, safe morning, take care and stay warm. Does anyone have any requests for lunch today? If so, let me know.
Evening all.....
Almost missed all the fun stuff yesterday, save for an inch of snow in Peoria that made sliding my tandems interesting (get them rolling, then yank on the trailer brake and hope you don't pulll them out the back of the trailer). Had no problem getting to Rochelle, IL, then hit rain just south of there that lasted all the way to Effingham. At least all the salt is washed off the truck now. Think today was worse with a 40mph crosswind that I had to fight until I got to Tennessee, then it pushed me to Georgia.
Just got off the phone with my sister, we got three inches in Burlington, worst of it was north of Milwaukee. Here in Cartersville, about 45 now, to get to 30 tonight, then 40s tomorrow.

CNW 6000 Willy2 CNW 6000 Reporting in from the Great White Windy land. Got plenty of snow to go around...will send it to Nebraska or Indiana as I hear they're low on the stuff... Not sure what silly person told you that Nebraska is low on snow. The eastern half of the state got a solid 10 to 14 inches yesterday. Did I say Nebraska? I meant South Carolina...close, really...just about 3" on the map...

Nope, no difference at all! Nebraska and South Carolina go together like bread and butter.

Don't send any here. It's illegal in South Carolina!
It's definitely getting colder here! Not sure what the current temp is, as I've been in the kitchen cooking. But I was out earlier, had to take a book back to the library, and stopped at the store to get groceries (meats, canned goods, onions, etc.,) that I had not gotten yet. I was about knocked down in the street, and it was from the winds, not any person trying to mug me, or anything like that.
As I said, I've been in the kitchen cooking. Tonight, we're having: meat loaf, shellie beans w/diced tomatoes and cut up bacon pieces, mashed taters & gravy, corn, and maybe some broccoli or brussels sprouts.
Everyone keep as warm and dry as possible, and please take care of yourselves. We want everyone to stay safe and sound, and in one piece!!
Afternoon all.
ICY, cold, and snowy. Bus slid sideways in the road today. Everything was ok though. Had to spread salt on the driveway today when I got home. Oh I almost forgot…. 65MPH WINDS COMPLAMENT all this.
Have a safe evening,
Justin

MookieQuentin: I looked you up - I am getting pretty good at just about knowing where you are when I look at Indiana - and figured you would avoid the nastiness. Maybe Willy will study this and let us know why where you live is so "protected".
Jen......a long ago "old wives tale" seemed to emerge from Muncie relating to the large horseshoe bend in our White River that flows thru here. Settled by Indians back when....and it's said, that somehow protects us from some of the bad weather.
That, I have no idea why it would have anything to do with weather. I will say....so many times, perticularly in the Summer.....we do see lots of storms divide as they approach us from the west and the worst of them seem to go north and south of us.
As for the current storm....i'd say, the west to east movement got a "push" from some weather situations just to our east and forced the worst of it up and north of us, and out across the Great lakes. Now we might see some from the "wrap-around" later when it passes tonight or tomorrow.
In the last hour it has made our ground white, but nothing as we've been hearing about and seeing west of us on TV.
little tricky getting to work last night but mother nature warmed up for now. This afternoon and tonight we have the freezer open up and maybe have a couple inches of snow.We are also under a high wind advisory.Time to go to bed.Cw thanks for breakfast.I won't be needing the container tonight. It's our annual company Christmas dinner at work.Who needs some more hot chocolate?
Ray is reporting in. I got up barely an hour ago and officially we have a bit less than 6 inches of snow here on the ground. The temp here is barely 1 degree above 0, but with the winds out of the west/northwest at better than 13 miles per hour, our wind chill factor is about -23 below 0.
I do not think I will be leaving my house at all today. I hope the rest of you out there are all having a good day, and stay warm!
Ray ooo ooo ooOOOOOo
Good morning and thanks for breakfast. 55, overcast and foggy at this hour. There is some heavy weather west of us, with tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm alerts, but it is not coming here. Just the rain from it. Everybody look out and stay safe.
Good Wednesday morning, everyone. Hope those to the west and north of us, made it through the night, and still have their power! At 6:15, we have a temp if the low to mid 50s, with the winds15-20 mph, gusting to 35 or so, so far. Temps will be slowly dropping the rest of the day. Think Sarah will have a busy day doing standby at the firehouse today, with reports of "wires down".
There's plenty of coffee, juices, milk, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for hot tea.
And there's plenty to eat on the breakfast/warmer bar this morning: Ray's cinnamon rolls, bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs or fried eggs, fried taters, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, oatmeal, toast, and, believe it or not, there's still some of Mookie's birthday cake left!
Hopefully, our power will stay on, so we can keep in contact with all of you, and you with us. Keep extra batteries, flashlights, blankets, dry clothes, etc., handy and everyone take care, stay as warm and dry as possible.
They're promising us lake effect on the back side of this storm - probably Friday/Saturday. Great - I'm working Polars both days. At least my drive down will be in daylight. I might be able to change routes to the least snowy.
At least here at the house lake effect isn't usually an issue. That's alright - the snow blower is poised and ready.
Edit: EEEEEEWHEEEEEEE, it's snowing now! Up at 3:15 for an EMS call, to light snow. Coming down good now! Back to bed.

Evidently UNL reads this forum. They just announced that they are closed tomorrow. I love it!
Sir Mud - now comes the happy part of this storm - tonite and tomorrow. Blah again!

Oh trust me, I have plenty of snowflakes to get up close and personal with in my own driveway!
MookieWilly - the whole eastern 1/2 of the state closed, except good old UNL
Jen.....Saw a report on national news this evening of Nebraska {the whole State}, is under blizzard conditions. Where he was standing reporting it did look nasty.
Here.....If it continues as it has been, it will miss our area and go north of us. Northern Indiana to see 1 to 3" of the stuff and we're down in the central part of the State, so if it continues on it's course, we'll see just the edge of it or just rain....but lots of wind forecast for tomorrow.
Mookie Sir Mud - wasn't that a fun reunion. Wonder if they will all show up for the for my new birthday date in June next year?

Willy - the whole eastern 1/2 of the state closed, except good old UNL. Public and private schools all closed today and tomorrow, but UNL only closes once a century. They did that about 10 years ago. Got an open invite to come and shovel our drive - you can get really up close and personal with a lot of those snowflakes....
Willy2This is the kind of thing that I wait for!
Lovely winter storm in Omaha today, and it's about to escalate into a blizzard this evening and tonight. Winds will gust to 45 mph and total snowfall should be around one foot. Wind chill values as low as 20 degrees below zero tonight and Wednesday. Even Creighton University cancelled classes today and I expect that they will again tomorrow. This is the kind of thing that I wait for!
