Heat has been broken here when the .45" of rain was deposited early last evening.  That's ok....it's 72 now as I do this.  Believe high pressure is moving in and we'll be dry for some time....

After a Dr. appointment this morning stopped in at the restaurant here along rt. 32 and the main double track CSX east / west line and in the first 20 min. had two eastbounds pass....each with {3}, six axle power.....Mixture of double stacks and other container cars and a general merchancise train for the 2nd one.

I am 62 today, but don't look or feel a day over 90!

Which goes along with my standard line - some days I feel like 16, some days 60.

Happy Birthday.  Enjoy it, and many more!

Happy B-Day  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM!!!!!

And Many, Many More!!

My Birthdays generally remind me of a John Denver song:

On the lunch/dinner menu:  barbecued beef ribs and all the toppings for loaded baked potatoes.

The barbecued beef ribs, steak fries and side dishes are on the warmer bar, as of this minute.  So, Tom and everyone else, grab a plate and dig in!!  Tom, I sincerely hope that the morning has been a good one for you, and, at least from in here, it looks like you're getting plenty of birthday wishes!  Thumbs Up

I certainly am, and am most gratified to everybody. We have some heavy weather at present with a lot of thunder. My girls are answering and boofing back at it... Thanks to all for making this a good day.

Careful, you're going to give Dan a big head there, lumping him in with the likes of us "trees"...

Actually, Brian, I'm trying to get Dan to actually make an appearance in here!  Do not recall him seeing him for quite a while (maybe once since AJ was brought home from the hospital).  Smile,Wink, & Grin

or supper tonight:  barbecued beef ribs with steak fries, and whatever side dishes you all wish to have.

Supper is now on the warmer bar (1/2 of the warmer bar) and on the other half, the cooler bar, is the cold side dishes.  There's also plenty  more fudgecakes for tonight's dessert.  And if anyone wants, there is also plenty of several flavors of ice cream.

Good morning, everyone.  Hey Joe:  It's Thursday!!

Coffee just finished brewing, juices, lemonade and iced teas are freshly made; hot water ready for hot tea.

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes w/syrup.

School started today, here in Jefferson County, KY.  So far, seems like everything is running smoothly.  School officials are warning parents that with all the first day of school delays, some parents may not see their kiddos home until 6, 7 p.m. tonight.  And that is nothing new.  They're also telling parents to make sure their little ones know what school they're to go to, have phone numbers, addresses with them.

Everyone have a great morning, and take care.

Hmm, slow this morning, must be all those School Buses in the way.

Looks like it's time to get a sandwich, cold drink and sit out on the Patio and watch the trains go by.Smile

(don't feel like getting "stuck" behind one of those school buses.)

Tom, hope you survived your Birthday yesterday, look forward to "seeing" your smiling face everyday.

Yeah, Mutt, looks like you hit the spike on the head:  things are verrrrry slow in here.  So, if anyone does come in, lunch and supper menu is in the Crock Pots on the counter, and side dishes are on the warmer bar:  the Crock Pots have pork chop abracadbra in them, and the side dishes include:  mashed taters & gravy, green beans, greens, corn on the cob and cornbread.

Also on the warmer bar for dessert:  apple, blueberry, cherry and peach cobblers. Chocolate cake and yellow cake w/caramel icing are in the pie chest.

Afternoon all.....

Some downtime between loads, so checking in.  Never went to many concerts, though did get to see Gallagher (Sledge-O-Matic and all), and, though I was way too young to see Led Zeppelin, got to see Kashmir, a cover band that was just as good.  I'm not a big fan of loud events, like to be able to talk in a semi-normal voice.

Warm in Atlanta today, was 91 as I was driving over from a customer, saw someone hit the wall or wreck on the Watermelon 500, but that's nothing new around here.....

See everyone later.

PS:  It's a sad day in rock history today, Les Paul died today at age 94......

Gee, what happened to my post from first thing this morning?!?!  I know what posts are absent from here, and I had not commented on the main one that was deleted, or the subsequent replies, so my post from this morning should not have been deleted.  I fully know the forum's rules about discussing religion and politics on here.

So, I'm making my last post on here for awhile.  You all will have to find someone else to take care of things in here for the time being.

So long, everyone.  And with my absence, maybe some who have been conspicuously absent, will start showing back up in her.

I'm wondering similar thoughts....Thought I was confused by not finding a post of of mine earlier today.....Couldn't understand how a page disappeared.  I noted some raw political comments did show up...Perhaps that has effected some other posts too....

Does someone have a few words to explain just what we're seeing here....?

Please forgive my attempt at humor that started all of this. It never dawned that it was anything more than something ridiculously funny. I am not a political person, and actually, am an old TOP 40 DeeJay who specialized in the ridiculous. Anything to make someone laugh... If I offended anyone, please accept my apologies for it, and accept my promise that it will not occur again. To Paula, I ask that she rethink her departure. Peace be with you all.

The young Marine of one of our government civilian workers was killed by an IED in Afghanistan last week.

The organization that l work for here in San Antonio went out to watch his arrival.  He was also honored by ordinary civilians here in San Antonio, who lined his motorcade route.

It was hot out there today on the flightline...but it was much hotter where that young Marine was.

Please remember, help, aid and assist our military members in any way you deem appropriate.

Guess I'll break the ice and start a new day here on this spot....and as usual we are off to another warm start here in our area, with sunshine and dryness.  Expect to see 90 by this afternoon.

Windows are closed again and have to shut the Summer out as the humidity is to increase along with our heat today.

Just a bit of railroad comment....We are seeing more trains west bound on NS Frankfort line of complete tanks consist....Haven't seen the east bounds, perhaps they are east bound at night....loaded.  What I have noticed is the empty west bounds are running at a seemingly faster pace than we normally see trains on this line run.  I'm guessing these are Ethanol tanks.

Another cool spell has come to the Crossroads of the West. Yesterday, it was about seventy at seven; today, it was in the fifties. We had scattered showers yesterday--a few drops here, and hail in North Salt Lake. When I went out for the paper this morning, a fine mist was beginning to fall; when I next looked out the pavement was wet. This afternoon, we go 24 miles away, 4,000 feet up--and 10 degrees cooler. It's going to be chilly in the morning.

Morning all!

Hope everyone has been well since my last visit. Life has just been flying by the past month. Got all moved in to the new house. (just need to start on the train room now.) 2 weeks into the new job and enjoy it quite a bit. Yesterday, I learned how to load Propane on tank cars. Monday I will get to learn to shift and spot cars at out loadout rack with the trackmobile. (maybe I will get some photos to show you) Wedding plans are coming along nicely and I still can't wait for the day to come.

Johnny, It feels like October here. It almost feels like it wants to start snowing. We actually had to switch the central air from Cool to Heat...
