Welcome, denverhank, to the DD/CS!  Always glad to have new people come in!

Okay, my "biggest order of biscuits & gravy", would be however many biscuits you
want on your plate:  two, three, four?  However many you want, that's how many
I'll put on your plate (if it's four, you'll get two plates of biscuits and gravy!!  Would
you like anything else with that order?

Good Morning everyone out there! I am getting ready to spend another day out at the Sioux Empire Fair here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Our county fair grounds is the home of our HO scale club, the Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society. We are one of the better "free" attractions during fair week and I will be going out the our club house within a couple hours to run trains for the fair-going public. The Sioux Empire Fair Board owns the building which houses our layout and we have a working arrangement or an agreement which stipulates that we pay no rent for the building that we are in, in exchange for opening up our club's layout and running trains every year during the week of the fair itself. This is our biggest open house of the year, in terms of how much money we take in from the fair-going public in the form of donations.

Some 25 years ago when I joined our club, I started a tradition of providing a lot of homemade goodies for the rest of the club's membership to munch on during the course of our open houses, especially the fair week open house. I had already produced six or seven batches of cookies,Chef [C=:-)] and had I not slept so late this morning, I would probably have a pan of my cinnamon rolls in the oven right now.

It is threatening to rain here in Sioux Falls, and I hope it does, although if it does rain, it might have a negative impact on the number of people who will be attending the Sioux Empire Fair today, and thus the number of people who would come in to see our layout and watch the trains roll past them. We got just under 2 inches of rain last week,Big Smile [:D] and considering that it has been so hot and dry here this summer, I would gladly take more rain anytime!Smile [:)]

Good Wednesday morning, everyone!  At least I'm semi- awake this morning, I
think.  I was able to read Mookie's greeting, with no problem!  Blush [:I]

Joe, thanks for making the coffee, juice and lemonade.  I've made a fresh batch
of iced tea, also.

Breakfast this morning:  choice of oatmeal w/toast, bacon, sausage, sausage
gravy & biscuits, hash browns, and scrambled eggs.

How did everyone like the beef kabobs for supper last night?  Don't remember
"hearing" any comments on last night's supper menu.

What would everyone like for lunch, and supper today?  Going to make this a
"You request what you want to eat, and if I've got it, I'l fix it for you" day today.

Morning All,

First off, Nance69, it was good to see you in here. I'm so sorry about your son. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Does anyone know why there's a confused looking cat talking to a mirror in here? Maybe we had better get the chocolate cake out now and see if that can straighten matters out.

Well, the temps are starting to climb in Denver again. Still have a bit of the monsoonal flow going, but it isn't dropping as much rain now. It did put on a heck of a light show last night though! I guess by the weekend the temps are supposed to be dropping, which is good as it looks like I'll be hiking up to the top of  Mt. Bierstadt Saturday morning (probably the easiest of the 14ers...but still a challenge when one only gets to breathe 60% of the oxygen available at sea level).

Well, I have to go feed the pups. Oscar (the Min Pin) is insisting on the matter. Hopd you all have a good day ~or~

The total at home was 2.75 inches. The total at Eppley: 1.40 inches. Some areas just south of Omaha picked up 4 to 5 inches of rain. It's too bad that all year we've been struggling to get the rain and then it all has to come in one big deluge.

More rain could be coming on Wednesday night as well as some severe weather. I have something good to look forward to I guess.

Joe, I'd be on the way to Jay's, and our lawn isn't all that big.  And we've got trains nearby!

(Also, plenty of geese to pluck.  Though we also have family members who are allergic to such fowl things.)

Well, looks like I didn't get any suggestions for supper; fortunately, I came up with a
menu for supper:  we'll have beef kabobs.  Between the strips of beef sirloin, there
will be:  green, red and yellow peppers and onion balls.  Side dishes will be:  baked
beans, slaw, potato salad, corn on the cob and sliced tomatoes.

Dessert:  chocolate cake (Mookie didn't eat all of the half sheet cake), with ice
cream, or you can have strawberry cheesecake.

Seems to be clouding up again outside.  Maybe we'll get some more rain.  That
little bit this morning didn't do a whole lot in cooling the humidity down.  But the
temp seems to be holding steady at about 80.

Well, the weather bureau late last week said it would be hot and dry here this week.  HA HA HA HA HA....

We have had 4 inches of rain in some spots.  We were so thirsty, it soaked right in.  But tomorrow - (they never miss on the temps!) we will be about 107 heat index.  Oh goody!

Willy, still working on getting you and family down here for Octoberfest!  Big Smile [:D]

CW - 1/2 sheet cake - sounds like something that should be enjoyed in the hammock.  Nope won't last much past lunch!

Going to go pillow shopping after work, I think.  May decide to go feathers this time.  There is so much I could do with that, but since he is Andy & Gus's Dad, I won't say a thing.

For now.

I am patient.

Wait until he isn't watching so closely.

Sneak up on him.

Lots of good feathers there.

Hello everyone!  I'm back from Produce give-away.  Today's bounty was:
apples, oranges, potatoes, and ears of corn.  Think I'll peal the apples,
and cook them, and put them in freezer bags to make fried apple pies
this winter.  Also going to freeze the ears of corn.  They will be very nice
to have this winter.

As Mutt said, we had a nice shower.  Was starting to rain as I came back
to the house after Produce was over.

Lunch today:  tuna salad sandwiches w/vegetable beef soup.  Looks like
I need to take another chocolate cake out of the freezer.  Think I'll take
one out that is half sheet cake size.  That should last through tomorrow,
don't you think?

Anybody have any preferences for supper tonight?  Please let me know ,
so I can start preparing it.

Ten days and the fifth and last child of our merged family moves to Indianapolis and college.  I need a volunteer for lawn mowing, snow removal, garbage takeout, kitchen cleanup and a few other chores.  Hours are negotiable.

Speaking of ten days, the weather forecast for those days says no more than 30% chance of rain.  Looks like Nebraska will have extra.  Send some of the run-off FedEx.

Good morning everyone.

Nance69 - You and your family are in my prayers.

Mookie: My mom is going to be in Lincoln for a meeting today. I don't think she'll be able to drop by and say hello, though.

Last night we picked up exactly 2 inches of rain at my house and it is still coming down. Of course Eppley Airfield missed one of the stronger storms that gave my house an inch so the official total will probably be about an inch less than what I measured. Bummer.

Everyone have a good day! Big Smile [:D]

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Managed to wake up early this morning.  Going
to be another hot and humid day here.  Several of the surrounding counties send
the kiddos back to school today.  Locally, the Jefferson County bus drivers will be
out aclimating themselves with their routes for the new school year.  School starts
back here next Tuesday.

Coffee, juice, iced tea and lemonade are ready.

Breakfast is on the warmer bar:  bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, hash
browns; cantaloupe & watermelon chunks are in the cooler.

Our temp this morning is 86, 87, and our "high today is supposed to be 88?  Some-
how, that just doesn't sound right, does it?  At least, not this time of the year!!

Guess that's about it for this morning.  Everyone have a great day, and stay as
cool as possible.
