Morning All,

It turned out not to be a very productive weekend, but that's OK. I've got a heck of a week planned here. Tuesday I get to meet our very own Medieval Footwear Model up towards Georgetown, and Labor Day Weekend holds a trip down south to check out the C&TS, and take a ride on the San Luis Express, which will be a new experience for yours truly.

It'll also most likely be the final outing for the trusty camera gear as I'm planning a fairly major overhaul of the camera system (see the digital camera thread for more details if you're interested).

Well, I suppose I must set about the pile of work that has once again accumulated upon my desk. Hope you all have a great week!

^?

No Brian!  No Ankles?  No fun!

Willy - may I have this dance?

BC - I like lighthouses!  I am with Tree - I would be there watching it - I find them fascinating.  It is strange the things that fascinate us - lighthouses, trains, diners, trains, Tonka Toys, trains.....

Well, I have a lot of work on my desk to do - Monday you know.  So I will have to spend some time organizing it - in the hammock!

Good Monday morning, everyone!  Dan, that was two delicious meals you made
for us yesterday.  Thank you so very much for your help.

And Nightrain, thank you so very much for your help Saturday night.  That beef
stew hit the spot.  Had never had beef stew and pizza together before.

Coffee is on, and lemonade and tea are made, and getting cold in the fridge.

Breakfast this morning:  pancakes and sausages, or you can have sausage,
biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs.

Just as I was going to sleep last night, we had a lightning show.  Was dead to
the world, as the old saying goes, so I never heard any thunder (after I went to
sleep), and if we got any heavy showers, I never heard them.

Still got a few burgers, brats, and dogs left.  Some of the sides are still there as well.  Sorry about the beverages.  I took 'em off the shelf!  Who's ready for dessert?

Dan, thanks for doing the grilling for lunch.  Would you mind, terribly, to stick around and
do some more grilling for supper tonight?  Your girlfriend's potato salad is very good.
I could almost make a meal of just potato salad.  (As a matter of fact, there have been
quite a few times, when I've done exactly that!!)  Plus, if you can stay around to grill, I'll
get the ingredients, and the ice cream maker out, and make some fresh homemade
ice cream for tonight's dessert.  And I'll see if I can get Mutt and Tree help you out with
grilling duty.

It's too hot, muggy and sticky to be in a kitchen too long to do a lot of cooking, today.

Good Morning All,

Think I'll grab some of the cold pizza as well. Nothing beats a cold pizza breakfast!

Was supposed to be climbing Quandary Peak by now, but my co-hikers chickened out when they heard that it was going to be cold and snowy above 11,000 feet. It doesn't bug me, but then again, I like that kind of stuff.

Well, I might head out to a trail in one of the State Parks out here and see about a trail that heads along the Moffat Line.

Hope you all have a great day!

Joe, thanks you so much for making the coffee and juice this morning.  Leftover cold
pizza sounds kind of good this morning.  And for the rest of the Sunday morning
brunch, I've got cinnamon strussel bread, and sausge, bacon, scrambled eggs,
and pancakes w/blueberries, maple syrup, and whatever else you'd like to have
on your pancakes, along with biscuits and sausage gravy.

The brunch will be served until 2 p.m. EDT.

Just heard on the local news, and on ABC's GMA Sunday edition, that there's been
a plane crash in Lexington, Ky, A Comair 50 seater.  They're reporting significant
fatalities.   Sad [:(]

Yes, Larry, a rotating beacon would be neat (Grand Haven used to have one--believe it or not, it's a working exhibit in the basement of the museum, which was the former GTW depot there).  But ths light just sends out a white beam every so often.  I think it used to be brighter than it is now, but I also think the lighthouse is decomissioned now.

Got a neat idea for a vacation "where-is-it?".

I'm a little late getting in here tonight. I'll take the usual-- Goetta Pizza.

It's been a busy day and week. The boys started their first games of soccer today. We were up at 7:00 this morning to get to the soccer fields. Then it was a day of changing oil in the Blazer and sitting in the pool.

Joe, enjoy all the Pepsi you can. When I was growing up, you helped my dad pay his bills and feed my belly.  He retired after 34 years with Pepsi-Cola about 2 years ago.

LM, CW, and Joe you should have an email from me.

All the ones in Indiana be careful tonight. Saw on the TV there are some counties under Tornado Watch until 3:00 am.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

Carl - I don't know if I'd mind the lighthouse blinking (especially since lighthouse = shoreline).  If it were an old-fashioned rotating beam, I'd probably just spend the night hypnotized by it...

Had an average to good day on the railroad - we're over 10,000 passengers for the summer, so far!  The highlight of the day (although it could have been better) was the car that was sitting on the siding when I arrived this morning - a heavyweight B&O business car, now privately owned.  Wish I'd made a couple of notes on it, and that I'd gotten a chance to see the inside (which I probably could have, I just didn't ask).  It headed back south on the tail end of the Utica train, one of it's occupants enjoying the breeze and the view on the platform...

Wonder if there's any Hawiian pizza left.  It's even good cold!

Well, Brian, when I go on vacation next week, there won't be any obliging hotels with computers.  Nor will a cell phone be of any use.  Nor is there a railroad anywhere in the county.  That's a real vacation for me--I might be bored out of my skull, except that I'll be able to ride my bike along two of my favorite rail trails.

Do I remember a lighthouse fancier around here?  You'd love the location of our family's cottage.  #!*! light keeps blinking in the front window all night!

Morning All,

Was planning to head out and get some train shots up on the Moffat Line this morning, but woke up to Steel Grey skies. Decided to call no joy, and get some tasks around the house done. I'm hoping (but doubting) that tomorrow will be better for a climb up Quandary Peak. I don't mind hiking in the rain (or snow as the case may very well be), but it really takes some of the fun away when you don't get a great view from the top.

Joe, the cinnamon rolls were excellent! Thanks for getting them out so early!

Well, I must set about my tasks. I hope you all have a great day, and I'll check in later.
