Mooks: You gonna be sitting on your roof with that big net trying to catch that big tin bird (Delta version) on its way to CW & Mutt this weekend?

The rain is not coming from here (although they are talking SNOW in the foothills on Sunday)....Maybe CW & Mutt can save me some of their moisture....

gotta go.

CP and Brian - (snort) young uns....

Randy - It is raining really hard here - and it wasn't even predicted.

I can't tell if it is coming from Houston Ed or Denver Chicken.  Either way - I will have to hunt them down and pat them nicely.  (snicker)

Having a meeting of catty people - so I will return later!

It's raining in Sioux Falls?  Huh- we've got a beautiful blue sky here in Cedar Rapids, and the weekend is supposed to start out nice last I heard.

Happy B-Day [bday] a day early, CP2816.  Welcome to the 52-year-old club.  My entrance was May 28.

It's not quite 12:30 PM here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and it is raining here. The wind is blowing from out of the south at 15 miles per hour. Everything is nice and green here, but I wish other parts of this country were getting some badly needed rain.

I am taking a break from giving my kitchen a thorough cleaning, it is long overdue. I am hoping to be ready to start baking bread tomorrow morning. Chef [C=:-)]

Tomorrow is my 52nd birthday, and right now I don't have any plans to celebrate it. I am guessing that I will probably spend the day catching up on some reading. It's supposed to rain tomorrow.......my Dad once told me that the moment I was born, Sioux Falls was in the middle of one of the most violent thunderstorms he had ever witnessed. And it may seem funny that I like it when we are socked in with rain on my birthday.

Morning everyone.....

Nice day here in Madison, in the mid-60s now, to hit 75 today.  Packing up to head to the parents this afternoon, going to help my dad chop corn silage again, if the bagger comes, and if we can get in the field without burying the tractor.  So if anyone sees a mud, dirt, and corn-covered John Deere tractor pulling a Gehl chopper in the pull-through stall in the diner parking lot this weekend, it's just me.  (I try not to back up when pulling the chopper, can get tricky.)

Joe- closed due to fog today?  Was pretty bad over here a couple nights ago, was foggy again last night, but not as bad.

I'll help out with the fish fry when I can, but I'll need help.  I changed the oil in the fryers this morning, needed the old oil to make diesel fuel for vehicles.

See everyone later.

I was going to procrastinate today, but figured I'd just put it off until tomorrow....

Of course, I can't procrastinate on the railroad - looks like it will be a nice weekend in the woods, and the colors are starting to show, so we may be rather busy.  It's also firefighters weekend - firefighters and EMT's ride free.  The Old Forge Fire Department (just down the road) has a "Drill Weekend" every year at this time - a very popular event open to firefighters from all over.  If they aren't in a class, some of the firefighters may just come and ride with us. I'll be in my usual railroad "regalia," but I'll have my FD badge on my belt...

Guess I'll slip into the kitchen and warm up a bear claw to go with my flavored tea...

Morning all!  Thought I'd pop in here for a while.  I see Ms. Moo is up to her usual...how's about a chocolate kitty treat?

Class has been pretty strenuous thus far.  On the bright side I now should have less in class time and more things to do on my own allowing for much more efficient procrastination!

Yawn...scratch....sniff....

Few facts to share:  The Nebraska fight song played at a slower tempo is actually a polka!  (anyone know how to polka?  Crank it up!

We did fish 2 weeks ago - before the rain.  We plan very carefully!  Smile [:)]

Willy - you can delete the double post and take away Brother Carl's fun - just say you want to delete the 2nd post.  They will take your name, address, and drivers license #, but it will work.

Building is pretty empty - guess who didn't get to go to the USC/UNL game in LA this weekend.....so I may actually have some peace and quiet and can catch up on some pending projects that are growing whiskers.  But before I do that - need to paw through the breakfast items, have my coffee and since I do have my priorities, check out the hammock - has a light dent in it.

(if someone is in it, I may sneak underneath and do a love bite where it counts!)

Moo....

Good Friday morning, everyone!  Coffee is on, juice is made, and I've got hot
chocolate just about ready.

Breakfast this morning:  Canadian bacon, your choice of fried or scrambled eggs,
biscuits, red-eye gravy, country-fried ham, and hash browns.

Need someone to take over the lunch duties for me today:  Could one of you take
over the Friday Fish Fry for me?  Have to go out and take care of some things,
and I won't be back in time to do lunch today.

Cannonball, thanks for the breakfast suggestion, and glad to hear that The Rattler
passed it's checkup.

Dear SJ,

We went as far west as Kar-ney last time we were out (though I may have left the "e" out of it then).  And my mother-in-law was born in Be-AT-riss (people still hear a Nebraska accent when she talks--her dad ran for some public office in GI).

We get our share of severe weather around here, too--and don't forget that Pat and I are from western Michigan, where the Lake fuels the snow machine!

In spite of the appearance of those widely-publicized golf outings, Mr. Ford was quite the athlete, up to and including his time in the White House.  Muscular, too--I remember the time he uprighted a certain young newspaper reporter, about my weight, when he'd nearly landed on his posterior after slipping on ice (I didn't have a chance to hit the ground!).

Rough day--I think I'll borrow the hammock for a nap before bedtime.

Well, hopefully by October 7th we won't need to be worrying (or anticipating in my case) about severe weather anymore.

Good luck in Louisville on Saturday, Mookie!

Interesting phenomenon - Just stopped by the Rochelle webcam in time to catch a westbound UP and patched SP locomotive at the head end of a train of identical aluminum hoppers.  The curious thing was that the train was moving at such a speed that it appeared to remain almost motionless (with the every few seconds framing of the webcam) while the locomotives jumped ahead one car at a time.

ARR 1508 is here in New York as ADIK 1508...  I haven't heard of any plans to add a B unit to our rolling stock.

Ham & Bean Soup & Cornbread - I'll take a serving over here!

Left work early yesterday on a report of a structure fire, possibly occupants unaccounted for (they were "in town" having lunch), and several significant exposures (barns and sheds).  When the first officer arrived on scene, as the call was still being dispatched, there was fire out all the windows.  The roof collapsed 10 minutes later, a good 20 minutes before I arrived.  There wasn't much we could do.  Did save all the other outbuildings (it was an old farm), but the house is just a smoking hole in the ground now.  I guess you could say we saved the cellar.

I should entertain everyone and show off my skills at pool and golf.  Move over Gerald Ford!

I like football when The Big Red Machine wins - but other than that - I don't follow it much any more.

It is the work involved in the processing of tickets and not giving tickets to Sir Chicken when Sir Ed should have had them..... Angel [angel]

Last night a friend of mine showed up at my front door with three plastic bags loaded with vegetables from his garden. I've got potatoes, carrots, peas, peppers, onions, tomatoes, & almost everything that you would find in a typical vegetable garden. I think I might have a baked potatoe or two for dinner tonight. It's all very good stuff and I wish I could share it all with some of the other forum members out there. I think I will make my homemade spaghetti sauce this weekend, and this is what the tomatoes are good for.

I will start baking bread in another week or so, and my friend will probably be on the receiving end of a loaf of bread, fresh from the oven.

I don't play golf (though I did for a while when I knew the caretaker of a golfcourse). I did see something interesting once. While I was railfanning in the Sandpoint area there were these two guys that were golfing there way along the MRL right of way east of town. They would just drive the ball a few 100 feet go find it and drive it again. In the 2 or so days we were in the area these guys covered over 20 miles. Anyone for a round of railfan golfing? I went on a cruise tour of Alaska in September of 2003 and had the pleasure of riding the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to the south end of Denali National Park. I have since then assembled an HO scale Alaska Railroad passenger train, with two SD70-macs from Kato Industries.
