That didnt stop him last time, but this time he appears to have won the national popular vote, and Ohio is not looking good for Kerry, provisional ballets or not.

Need comfort food...pancakes and bacon, this morning.....[V]

No winners yet. Why is Bush going to make a victory speech before Ohio counts its ballots? He only has 254 electoral votes; he needs 270.

Mookie, would you like your big bowl of milk warmed? Might help
the cold pizza go down better.

Am also going to make some vegetable soup today and some more
meat loaf and mashed potatoes. How's that sound? It's so cool and
damp, thought something nice and hot would be in order for today.

I'll have some Hot Chocolate please. Interesting race for so far. Bush has 254 votes and Kerry has 252. Both must get 270 in order to win.

I wonder who Ohio has givin its majority vote to? Time will tell; soon maybe.

Good morning, everyone. This morning we'll have:

sausage & gravy, biscuits, oatmeal & toast, grits for those who like them,
and cereal for Matt. Plenty of coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate, and milk. Our
high today is to be in the low to mid 50s, down to 48 tonight. And we have
chance of rain all day, with possible thunder showers tonight. Don't know
about the rest of you, but I HATE chilly, damp weather. After getting soaked
tthrough yesterday, I'm ready for some sunshine!

See locomutt finally got the rails clean on the O Scale layout.

Nothing on the News Wire today. Media types must be stuck on the election today or else Bergie got into a long line waiting to vote.

Oh well, first things first.

Oh,nobody here this evening huh? Well this will be a good time for
me to do some maintaince on the "O" scale layout. Looks like I need
to clean the rails. That .148 rail is always hard to keep clean. Well I
guess I'll just put a pot of coffee on,and see if anyone else comes in for
company;this is going to take awhile.
Jim,you need to come in and check the "HO" layout, and Larry you
need to do the same for the "N". We got to have them running smoothly.[:D]
By the way, who's in charge of the "S" scale[?]
And Mookie,I've been meaning to say something about your "Z" scale.
Can you put it a different counter drawer[?] That was the one we used
for the silverware![:D]

Along with Joe's sausage soup, have plenty of chicken and dumplings left
for dinner tonight.

Hope everyone remembered to vote. We FINALLY got a lull in the rain for
us to go vote at 4:00 EST. Our voting place wasn't crowded at all: signed
in, got our ballots and voted. Out of there in about 15 min.

In Australia, The First Tuesday in November is the day of the BIG Horse Race, the Melbourne Cup. There was a bad storm, but the race was run in just rain. The whole country stops for the race. Even in Defence Headquarters, there was a TV tuned to the race (which I watched).

The favourite won, so all the bookmakers were unhappy. The first Mare to win two years in a row, ever, in more than 100 years, called "Makybe Diva".

Newspapers with nothing important to report indicated that bookmakers were offerring better odds on the favourite horse, than on George W Bush winning the US election, so they regarded George W as a better bet! (This doesn't mean I'm taking sides by the way, just reporting!)

Now the whole world is waiting to see!

MC

Thanks for the info on my upcoming trip. I'll be especially alert to that beverage situation. Fortunately, one or two cans of a favorite brew will do.

I may have some questions about the trip and might open up a new topic next week.

With remarkably good scheduling, I note that a good part of Western Kansas and Eastern Colorado are in the dark times. Drove to west to Denver many years ago. Gives new meaning to flatlander.

MC. I am swinging through your way a week from Sunday on the SW Chief. Trust you will have the tracks swept clean down at the bottom end of your range by that time.

Jay: If you ride from Dodge City to Las Animas on the SW Chief (#3 or #4, WB or EB?), think of a few of the posts here.

(1) You are going 90MPH on mostly 132# jointed rail, especially west of Garden City, KS
(2) From Dodge City/ Sears to Las Animas you are in Automatic Block Territory(ABS)
(3) Between Holly, CO and Coolidge, KS (EB) the bar slams shut on the lounge car
(4) The east half of Colorado is flat or flatter than Kansas

Say hello to the old stompin' grounds!

Checking in- I voted, and it counts. Even though we think Minnesota around Jan. becomes a Canadian province (with all the snow and all), were still a state, and a swing one at that. Still, it can't beat a hot cup here in the diner.

Nice warm polling place to go hide out in and warm up. Then back to 16 degrees and sunshine. As long as the wind stays away, will stay "out standing in my field" and away from el gato's stew pot.[:D]

Went and got produce this morning: we have iceburg lettuce, salad mix,
sweet potatoes and iced tea. Anyone have a good key lime pie recipe?

Haven't gone to vote yet; waiting for rain to slack off so we won't get
SOAKED waiting for the bus to go to our voting place.
