Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Heavy wet snow in Denver as we post. Going home will be an adventure. (Do 3 scotties make good sled dogs?)
Taking a bowl of Broccoli Cheese Zoupe to a cubicle with a view to watch the crazies with bald tires start flying off the freeway interchange. Should be good for a little excitement today.
Afternoon everyone......
Another damp, dreary day here in Wisconsin, supposed to be in the upper 50s with rain, and supposed to rain all week. Will send Ed a bar of soap to take his bath out in the railyard, heard they got over a foot of rain since about Saturday.
Not much new around here, Wisconsin got to keep Paul Bunyan's Axe for another year, score was something like 41-9. The Bears last night eked out a win over Arizona, without scoring an offensive touchdown (shades of last year???)
Found out what my truck would sound like if I ran straight pipes, landlord has a truck similar to mine, and I took it for a ride Friday night. My truck is keeping a muffler on, although a performance one would be nice.
Thanks for the vegetable beef soup, CW, was delicious. See everyone later.

Nothing tastes better than a cup of hot soup on a cold day like today. I think I'll have two servings of the vegetable beef soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, and maybe a hot dog as well.
At the present moment we have a temperature of 43 degrees here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The wind is blowing out of the northwest at 20 miles per hour with gusts up to 28 mph. I went out to our local Sheraton Hotel to apply for work within the last couple hours. I was too lightly dressed to walk home so I patiently waited for the next bus. When I finally got home I cranked up the heat here and put on a sweater. There is a threat of snow for early tomorrow morning. We could have anywhere from one to three inches of the white stuff on the ground by sunrise.

OK - you are really taxing me mentally!
This weekend will be nice in New York. Ed will be able to quit his swimming lessons. Willy will be able to take the weekend off from weather forecasting!
Now I am going to snag a blueberry bagel and my cup of coffee and go find a nice quiet place to dunk my breakfast. Call me when my talents are needed again!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. We've had non-stop rain for 22 hours now. At
last it's been a steady rain, not really a hard downpour.
Coffee is ready, orange juice is made, and have hot water available for tea and
cocoa.
Breakfast is on the warmer bar: bacon, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled
eggs, your choice of hash browns or fried taters; oatmeal, toast
Our ISP is doing a major maintenance. Haven't been able to get online with them
since last night. And, they have NO IDEA when it will be back up. What a lovely day.
Had to go around Robin Hood's barn just to get in the Diner!!
Later, everyone!

Saw the reports from the swamp briefly, but didn't see any Ed's swimming...

I just saw the news reports from the Swamp and vicinity--not pretty! We're getting a bit of rain right now, too, though there's no threat of a major storm.
Let us know how things are for you, buddy!

You can have it MC, Two days of blizzard was enough for me. I guess I need that once in a while to make me appriciate the nice climate I live in these days.
Happy birthday Carl and Larry and happy belated birthday to Zardoz!
Brian - very nice photos! Also, glad to see that Chad is back safe and sound.
I've come down with another nasty cold, but not as bad as the last one. One good note is that there is a chance of snow later this week. Of course I suppose it'll end up going just north of Omaha like it always does, but I can always hope.

I liked your photo of the old fire trucks, Locomutt. I have a special place in my heart for fire fighters themselves, since they once came to my rescue. In the last place I lived, I had a gas stove, and my Mom once told me that I should make an effort to move both the stove and the refrigerator to clean underneath and behind them. I decided that it was time to do this, and when I pulled my gas stove out, I broke the gas service line, and I did not have a wrench with which I could shut off the gas. The valve was underneath the kitchen cabinet next to the stove. I dialed 911 and the S.F.F.D. was there within 3 minutes. Needless to say, this once incident scared the hell out of me!! With a spark from a light switch, KA-BOOM!!, I could have been history!!

Welcome back, Chad!
Brian (IA) http://blhanel.rrpicturearchives.net.
Our respective mothers had little to do with our daughters' weddings, for which I think we (and they) should be thankful. After all, it was their day.
Jay, I couldn't see the picture, but thanks for thinking of me. I guess if it's at the museum it's too old to be used on the road any more. They've had to build a lot of heavy-duty flats in recent years (the past ten or so, I would guess) just because the old ones had mostly been retired! Late edit: this time it came up. It looks like something they're restoring to its old PRR identity.
My birthday "cake" is apple pie. Birthday lunch coming up shortly (barbecue something-or-other). We also got some good eating apples on our way home from Nebraska; I'm trying to keep a lot of doctors away!
I had my sitting just a while ago--they drew my blood, but I didn't see the results.
For some reason I feel older today...
One of our firefighters shares a birthday with me. They say that if you have a group gathered of any size at all, you'll likely find two people with the same birthday.
Happy birthday to Carl and Zardoz. Got a call from my mother last night. She had so much to cover about my daughter's wedding that she forgot to wish me a happy birthday... I'll be seeing her Thursday, though.
'Mutt - I really do think we've 'lost' some of our usual customers. The advertising has been about the same, but the attendance has been lackluster for the past few events.
Now I just get to wait for the dealer to finish fixing my truck...
Happy Birthday to all! I know I've forgotten some...sorry! What's new in the world?
Dan
Folks -
Belated Happy Birthdays guys.
Thought I'd drop off some great apples. Got a box of Cortlands (cooking) and another of Empires (eating) that should be good for pies and just plain eating respectively. Pick you own is big this year and there are a LOT of apples after recent INS raids. Hope the snow doesn't get 'em like in Buffalo.
Happy monday...lol...

Yes! Happy Birthday to Carl & Larry, and anyone else we may be forgetting today! Maybe I should go to work in the kitchen here and produce a couple big birthday cakes.
At last! (Brian will understand.) This is something for Carl from Altoona. A 250 depressed center flat car at the Museum on the site of the old shops. This side had been painted over but the back side had CR 766163.
(Now that I haven't gotten the drill, I'll post a few more pics sometime today.)
