QUOTE: Originally posted by tree68 QUOTE: Originally posted by Junctionfan Good morning everybody. I have something to get of my chest that you may find just as ironic. I live near a highway and isn't that busy but busy enough. Now it is snowing and you would believe the amount of stupid accidents I see people getting into. Now living in Canada and all, how the heck do Canadians not be able to drive in the snow? Is it just me or is that wierd? Part of it is the "instant forget" thing, but a big part is the predominance of SUVs on the road today. Too many of them forget that even though they can put it in four-wheel-go, they still only have four-wheel-stop. Not to mention that SUVs are notoriously top-heavy and roll over very easily. The percentage of accidents in this area that are roll-overs has skyrocketed. And on another topic: QUOTE: Originally posted by Zardoz Do they use little, itsy bitsy, tiny flames? And little fire extinguishers and little tiny hoses? You should have seen us dodging the itsy-bitsy bullets..... Then there was that .5cc hazmat spill.....[:D]

When people STOP burning buildings down. 'Simulators' are Very important to firefighters, so they can see in advance to know where to position equipment. I doubt you'll ever see an end to either!!!!!!!! The class was actually less about tactics than it was about management. There were Fire, EMS, and state troopers in the class, along with a couple of "industry" reps, one from a hospital. The idea is to get everyone used to using Incident Command (if you'd like an explanation of ICS/IMS, email me, unless you want a class here). One of the scenarios was a hostage situation where the hostage taker was shooting at people and had poured gas in the house. Realistic radio traffic, realistic confusion. It can get pretty intense, especially when the controllers throw curves...
