Good Friday morning, everyone.  Ray, thank you for getting coffee going, making fresh
juice, and fixing breakfast.  Think I'll take some bacon, buttermilk pancakes, and one
of your cinnamon rolls:  I'm hungry this morning.

I woke up at 4:40, then fell back asleep about 5:30.

Mookie and Joe, you are so right:  I hope they catch that person in California,  who set
the fire!

Still raining here this morning.  Supposed to have some heavy rains today, along with
the possibility of some thunder & lightning.  Around here, supposed to be very nice
weather Tuesday for the trick or treaters.  Guess we'll have to wait and see.  That
reminds me:  need to get a birthday card in the mail to our nephew in Cleveland:  he's
a Halloween baby (born in 1966, the year we got hit with an early blizzard here).

Mookie, I had bronchitis so bad one year, that it turned into plurisy, and I was one
step away from pneumonia.  I was in bed for a week and a half, on two different
medicines, if not three.  That was back in 1978.  I wouldn't wish that on my worst
enemy.  Just get as much rest as you can in the hammock.  Do you need another
blanket or anything?

Yawn.  (now didn't just reading that make you want to yawn, too!)

MMM - smells good in here.

Doc sez I have bronko, no, bronco, no - I have a bad cof!  And a long inflecshun.  Don't know what that means, but I can still smell!  Approve [^]  Need to stay in the hammock so I don't get nomonya!  No problem.  Don't want no monya anyway!

Nice weather coming east compliments of Nebraska.  (sure didn't come from Colorado or Kansas!)

Willy - good luck with the play this weekend.  Work your magic with the lights!

Brian - our best to Joanie.  Ballet in her future?

Tree - lost 4 comrades in California due to a professional fire starter.  How tragic!

Remember to "fall" back this weekend.  I am going to start right now!  Hammock, here I come.

Hey that Beef stew sounds really good. It's cold around here today. Finally haqd to put away the short sleeves for the season. In the high 30s. Leaves almost all gone. Looking like Halloween...

The new Classic Trains is interesting too. Lots of good stuff about cab units. Takes me back to the '60s and '70s.

Good afternoon, everyone- well, we've returned home from Joanie's knee operation, which went well.  She's currently on the phone updating the whole family on both sides.  While at the hospital, I had plenty of opportunities to keep abreast of today's news- Chad, I hope you're not in the line of fire (literally) down there.  I hope that our Coloradoans are staying safe and off the road as well.  I do have a Sears two-stage snowblower, which I need to get out of the shed and ready for action.

Hmmm...you've been to Denver, haven't you? It'll be back in the 60's by the weekend. If you don't like the weather in Colorado, wait 15 minutes or drive 15 miles (sometimes that's no joke!)

By the way, if you can't locate your Vivaldi CD, call the IRS 800 number, you will get an hour or two of the Four Seasons while on hold.  (I used to like that piece.)

Only a government agency (and the IRS seems to be the paradigm for so many bureaucratic entities)could have the wherewithal to kill something as beautiful as The Four Seasons. One would think that they could take some miniscule fraction of all they take in to buy at least one or two more songs for background music!Evil [}:)]Tongue [:P]

Willy-The last snow shoveler in our family has gone off to college.  When the snow comes can you slide over here and get our driveway done by 6am.  We'll give you a note for your principal explaining why you are late for school.

Maybe Mookie, Bryan, Carl and I can pool on the purchase of a nice two stage snow mover with an enclosed cab.  You can take care of your family's driveway first.  I am sure they would appreciate that.Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Good Afternoon!

It was raining here a little earlier this morning, but now it is just cloudy. I know that folks like Tree have probably already had enough to do with snow for this year, but I'm ready to see a couple inches sometime in the next few weeks.

I don't have any big news for today, so everyone have a good one!

It's kind of a depressing, gloomy day here in Sioux Falls, and at last report we had a temperature of 44 degrees. It actually feels closer to 39.

I made the trek within the last hour to the South Dakota Career Center to dig up information on possible job openings, and while on my way out there I encountered a Dakota & Iowa train that was southbound toward I would assume was Sioux City, Iowa. There were three engines and 53 open hoppers in the consist. The lead engine was #4028, an SD-39. I regret that I did not have my camera with me this time. As usual, there were a few idiots who did not want to wait patiently for the train to clear the crossing. The train was moving rather slow, having just passed through the BNSF yard here, but by the time the engines cleared the crossing, it was really building up some speed.

For anyone who has never seen motive power of the D&I, the locomotives are painted yellow and black, and these three engines appeared to be in immaculate condition, as if they had been freshly painted. And very sharp looking as well.

Two kind of nice days with sunshine, but now its back to overcast with precip in the forecast.  Been busy getting the den ready for the winter hibernation.  I'd stop by the diner more often, but I already have enough in the personal stores to take care of the nutrition issue.

Out walking the dogs last night and watched a pretty bizarre lightning show for about an hour up towards Chris on the north side of town.

Four inches of wet snow on the ground and no wind. No blizzard this time. Took the broom to our walk and the neighbors, then did the driveways. Wasn't long before snow had lightly recovered everything. Dogs in the window watching the snow from the back of the couch - at least they're entertained.

/// Heads off to drain the hot cider container.

Morning All,

It's mornings like this that I'm ever so happy that I have a 17 second commute (well, maybe 18 today) to work. Watching the news this morning made me quite glad that I didn't have to drive today. Going to be a snowy one!

MC, didn't see your post until this morning, so Alas! I missed it. There was some phenominal afternoon light yesterday, too. Oh well...I'll see what this weather brings. If the snow stops, and the sun comes out, I might have to head out and get some winter wonderland pictures. Not sure what the weatherman has in store, though. I might have to stick to the city, too. Heard that the foothills could get up to two feet. The CopCar does alright in some snow, but her limit is around the one foot mark if I've got some weight in the trunk. Beyond that, I'm pretty much shoveling myself wherever I want to go.

Anyways, hope you all have a great day. TTFN!

CW, if I had any OTC Naproxen  on hand, I would gladly share it with you. I used to take that stuff for my arthritic knee joints until my pharmacist ruled that it doesn't mix well with other medications that I was taking at the time. I've got some Tylenol and some Ibuprophen which you are welcome to. Anyway, I hope you can rid yourself of that headache quickly. I know from previous experience that it's no fun to wake up with a headache.

SHISHH!!!! The word "rain" could just as well be a four-letter word in some places. At least in Lincoln it is  not going to get cold enough to either freeze outright or turn into snow. The temperature in Lincoln is supposed to max out at about 49 degrees this afternoon.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Sorry I'm late getting in here this morning.

Coffee is brewing, hot tea is on, and fresh juice is made.

Breakfast this morning:  bacon, eggs, sausages (links & patties), oatmeal,
toast, sausage gravy & homemade biscuits.

Mookie & Ed, we're getting rain here, also.  Started somewhere around 7 p.m.
and has rained off & on all night long.  Looks like we're to have rain (heavy at
times) through tomorrow sometime.

Hope everyone has a great day, and could someone pass me a couple of OTC
Naproxen?  Got a big, bad headache this morning.

Yes, it is...

Like we need more ground water down here...the gators dont take to that much fresh water....

Seriously, the city just condemned the old Family Law Building court rooms…the basement is right next to Buffalo Bayou, and a gator made a home in there, scared the janitors last week, so the city did an inspection, discovered the entire building is contaminated with a pretty bad type of mold.

Not to mention the wildlife in the basement…the gator, and water moccasins, along with assorted rodents.

Told Aimee she can't bring the gator home, we already have to many reptiles.

Hummm…Gator steaks, anyone?

Having boosted Kodak's and Fuji's revenues by probably $50,000 over the last 25 years, I miss *nothing* about film, including all the pain of handling, storing, mailing, reloading, protecting from frying in the summer heat, etc.  Now I can shoot 400-500 photos a day of field conditions or on vacation (and I frequently do) and think nothing of it.  I can enjoy myself instead of thinking about how much money I'm burning through.  The only thing I don't like about digital is it wasn't consumer-ready 25 years ago.
