Tharmeni.....Rail traffic seems to be about normal through our Muncie area..{roughly 60 miles northeast of Indy}, now....maybe a bit heavy on the Frankton route coming in from the west...seems a bit heavy now on covered hoppers....They move a bunch of them through here. The Indy folks might comment on any special movements in that area....We have both NS and CSX going in various directions in and out of Muncie. Triple Crown does come thruogh here daily on NS from the north and heads south to the Florida area...On the weather, this morning, Friday...we have a beautiful sunny, mild calm day shaping up with the humidity just a touch higher than yeasterday.

Thanks, modelcar. Glad to hear the weather has moderated. I am flying up to Indy next week and I've have enough of the miserable temperatures here in Florida -- so Indy should feel great. Any special rail programs up there in the next week or so?

Oh, and for my birthday, my lovely wife gave me (us) a trip on the American Orient Express in 2006. LA to El Paso, with stops at the Grand Canyon and Santa Fe. How could I NOT love a woman like that????

Joe, thank you for fixing the juice, and putting the coffee on. Sure is gonna be
quiet in here today without Mookie. But she deserves a whole Friday off, and
to make it a 3-day weekend. Tell your Mom Happy Birthday for us, okay?

Breakfast: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, choice of hash browns or
fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, cantalope & watermelon slices, toast & jelly.

Lunch today: fish and fries, and cole slaw, hamburgers, cheeseburgers.

Will let you know later what the supper menu will be. (Have to figure that out,
myself).

Larry, you're so right about cornbread being better in an iron skillet. Wish I
had one. Cornbread just seems to taste better when it's made in an iron
skillet, doesn't it.

Speaking of liquor, how are the virgin drinks today? I haven't had a good virgin drink in a while.

YES!!!! Cornbread!! Oh I'll have about four or maybe five peices of that. Bread is one of my favorite foods, and corn bread is on the top of the list.!! I think I'll have some of that beef too CW.

Carl the power is back on line, I don't know when it came on but, when I got home at 4pm it was on.

Randy I hate to say this but, I've never heard of the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society. Is there something I need to know about them?/ lol

Well, thank you Lord that my power is back on. It went off at 6:16 Eastern Standard time, while I was on the Diner believe it or not getting ready to brag to eveyone that the rain was comming over here in Philly. Well let me tell you it sure did, so did the wind, lighting and the voice of God (thunder). There were many power outages in the area with in 10 mins of the first clap of thunder, I was one of them. Well of course it was blasing hot in my house it was soo hot that I couldn't go to sleep in the house I went outside and went to sleep in the lighting, thunder, and rain. It did feel good, and I saw some reverse lighting which was awsome. I also saw a beautiful sun set, which almost looked as if a twister was comming. This has got to be one of the best storms I've ever witnessed around here in Philly, becides the Blizzard of 1996.

temper to show up. My maternal grandmother was 1/4 Cherokee.

Oh cool. I'm not exactly sure how much I am, but I am thinking that it is less than 1/10th. You would never know I am part native America, because I have very pale skin, and I burn easily. The pale blonde hair doesn't show it either.

Mmm mmm, dinner sounds great, and the cookies sounds great as well.

Dinner sounds delicious. Happened into a fire station in Georgia once just in time for dinner (not intentionally, either) and got beef stew and corn bread - the bread baked in a cast iron skillet. Talk about a meal!

Headed south for the weekend - but only to the NY/PA border for a fire dep't field day. Lots of speidies!

Well, at 4:23 here, the current temp is 82, and we're supposed to reach 85
degrees for a high today.

I've been in the kitchen baking oatmeal cookies. In addition to the oatmeal,
I added 4 packs of the instant peaches & cream oatmeal to the cookies.
They taste very good!

Supper special tonight: beef stew and cornbread. Still have some cherry
pie, apple pie, and blackberry cobbler for dessert, along with the oatmeal
cookies.

Everyone: enjoy your supper![C=:-)][C=:-)]

What part of Maryland are you headed to? I live in Washington County in the panhandle. And I live only 20 minutes away from the Brunswick CSX / MARC yard. I reccomend railfanning there, and if you get a chance, try Harper's Ferry in near by West Virginia.

No problem there cherokee woman. That's kind of ironic, I have a younger brother named Zach, and everyone says he looks exactly like me. And when they say that, I have to agree, he does look like how I did when I was 10.

Delicious pie by the way.

And you mentioned the layouts running, I guess I'll have to bring the turbines back.[;)]

One question, are you really Cherokee? If so, how much? I'm part Cherokee, but not much, like 1/10th or something like that. My European hertiage shows much more than that. German and Irish dominate over the others.

Boy, Sis, I've never seen anybody who can cut the rug like you two!

Sarah, I've been trying to send the cooler stuff your way. Hope the power came back so you can have some more ice cubes ready [;-)].

I finally re-trained myself yesterday--was at Elmhurst for about two hours, and had five apiece--freights and scoots. Today, the railroad gets to re-train me--back to work, after 18 days of vacation.

Tough break. That's why I like cars so much. It's an easy way to make use of any extra money laying (or is it lieing or lying-whatever) around. Anyway, the prices at the Diner are very reasonable, posting on the forum is pretty cheap and when you get another star, Trains.com doubles you per pay per word for posts.

Good thing I don't drink, otherwise I might be providing my own additives to a tomato juice breakfast. Ah, I think I'll just go take a nap.

Serious note. The the explosion and fire of the train on the Iraq RR has to be a tough one for Mark and the Iraqi Railroaders. I hope he is OK.

....Beautiful, great weather in Muncie today....What a relief from the heat...! To be like this thru the weekend. Great day for my plumber to be here replacing my submersible well pump. Big hurdle is over...He has the old one out and pumping out dirt particles and cleaning with bleach, etc....and then installing the brand new one....Water 18 ft. below the yard surface....which is ok. Pump will hang down in well at 45 ft. level.

Spare money: what's that?!?!?!

Good cool morning, everyone! We're at 64 degrees this morning. Man, does
that feel good!!

Breakfast this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, eggs, fried
potatoes, cantalope, watermelon, and tomato slices.

Hope everyone has a good day today, and, as Joe & Matt say, "Stay safe."

Spare money always finds a home, and it's not usually where you want it to live. The problem was that the car heard you talking about the spare money. A sad tale, but true, and many the motorist who has had the experience.
