Mookie, thank you for providing our noon time dinner today!! Just got back
from errand-running, and am very glad you provided dinner for us today.

We are supposed to get the "tropical depression"rain around 7 p.m. edt
tomorrow. Had a very nice rain yesterday afternoon, and another round
this morning (just as I was going to catch the bus). At least I had the
foresight to put on my raincoat this morning!!

Supper tonight: leftover round steak (if there's any left), leftover roast,
potatoes & carrots, and there's plenty of pineapple upside down cake
left, also. So: everbody enjoy the good eats!!

We are getting a light rain shower but I don't think it is related to Katrina. Katrina's projected path doesn't involve Arkansas.

Katrina will hit us likely as a depression with heavy rains and likely some decent but not threatening winds even in Ontario.

Won't need to water the grass.

I just feel sorry for the folk getting hit with it as a hurricane. The only upside is they won't have to water the grass for a year probably-that's about it for upside.

I'll have to stow a piece of that cake away - still trying to finish up apple pie I baked for a picnic. Everybody stuffed themselves an burgers, dogs, and salads, leaving no room for dessert... Their loss - gosh it's good!

Spent the weekend learning how to extricate a valued group of our society from their work environment when things go wrong. We certainly need farmers (and appreciate them) but they often tend to take on that teenage "bulletproof" mentality. Next time you drive by a bucolic farm scene - well, it's really pretty scary.

Probably catch a light lunch before I head out to the lake to sail this afternoon, but I know we've got all the ingredients in the cooler.

^O^.......got a ring of pineapple on my nose and can't get it off! I am not a big pineapple eater, but oooo - the cake is just out of this world.....

I drug in a big 'tainer full of round steak cooked for hours in mushroom soup - it is so tender, it falls apart. Will offer this to CW for dinner from the driver. Also brought in a big salad to go with it. I got to help toss it - will leave the details out.....[}:)]

Neighbors had a bd party for 5 year old. Ages 5-8 and there were about 8 kids and 6 adults - all day long.....kids were upstairs, screaming at each other and jumping off the furniture onto the hard floor. Sounds like an echo chamber in there.

Driver yelled at kids as they were trying to dismantle our garage door (not there own, mind you) with a big wheel. Didn't know those things could go that fast and hit that hard!

Then I used about a 20 pound book and beat on the walls more than once. I wasn't dressed to go over and yell and Driver wouldn't let me. He said the police would come and he would have to try and explain that it was me that drug the 200 pound neighbor down the street beating him all the way! Said they would never believe it and he would be in trouble! I was a little singed around the ears!

Ah, just a quiet Sunday in the duplex of horrors.

Heading for the hammock. Will take the radio - listen to the hissicane reports.

Oh - and for all you who have not met Mudchicken - this is the fastest bird I have ever seen. He flies in a big truck and usually about 5 inches off the asphalt. There will be only a blur and a cloud of feathers!

make a very nice treat for everyone.

Breakfast this morning: cantalope slices, turkey bacon, sausage links &

I almost got taken in by that Mars thing, but if you read it accurately, it says that Mars, when seen through 75-power binoculars, looks as big as the moon does to the naked eye--in other words, if you look at Mars with the naked eye, it's about one 75th the diameter of the moon (instead of what--maybe one 80th?), and would supply the square of 1/75th of the light surface (about 1/5400). I suspect that unless you're a die-hard astronomer, 75-power binoculars are hard to come by--and they'd be a pain in the posterior to focus.

Late supper again tonight. The wife is checking out grandchildren in Cincinnati and step-son Matt is hanging out with the guys.

Stopped by Roundout, IL, famous crossing of CP (ex-MILW) and the "J" Slower on Sundays, of course, but caught a northbound Hiawatha and the Metra commuter coming in from Fox Lakes. Amtrak hits the diamond at 79MPH blowing for the highway crossing as it goes under the bike path bridge on the trail that runs along the North Shore Mundelein Branch. The bridge is no more than a few feet above a maximum clearance requirement for height above rail and puts the observer just about as close to a speeding train as possible with a reasonable degree of safety.

Nice day here. Anybody "in the path" keep the raincoat handy and stay safe.

Been a hectic week with work, stepdaughter back in hospital briefly. Got a viral infection. Guess that's a tough one for diabetics too. Anyway, she's back home now recovering.
Got to see the train that is Erics photo come thru Erie. All I got was a bad pic with a disposable. I've got to go digital. This upgrading to the 21st century is hard for a dinosaur like me.
Does anyone want some squirrel for our grillout this weekend? Has cooled off enough to finally go "tree rat" hunting. I usually find a nice sunny spot and sit down against a tree and wait for them to come to me. In squirrel hunter language that translates into:
"It was sunny and warm, peaceful in the woods, so I fell asleep for two hours. Now I'll tell everyone that the Squirrels just weren't out" Am going to try to get ot this week after work, so if anyone wants some for this weekend, let me know and I'll try to stay awake!

Well Yes Randy the Eagles are doing better than the Packers so far. Beleive it or not I'm a huge Packers fan too. I liked Green Bay way before the Eagles and I wasn't even living in up there I was living in Philadelphia. Interesting huh?? Now are you referring to the Eagles Bengals game on friday?? With the score 27 to 3. Yes that was terrible for the Bengals but, good for us. The final score was 27 to 17, in the fourth quarter we let them get a touchdown, so they wouldn't be humiliated. lol Guess What this was just Pre Season too.

I think I will go with that o so wonderful Roast beef, potatoes and carrots now if its ready or when ever it will be ready.

Not doing too much today just sitting in the house chillin' listing to Staind' s cd dysfunction. I'm thinking about watching a movie, but don't know which one to watch. I have so many movies I don't know what to do with them.

Hi all, sorry it's been so long since I last checked in. It's been pretty busy around here what with cleanup from the tornadoes, the townships and villages have been burning all the deadfall and trees taken down, and the building contractors are gearing up for rebuilding all the homes.

CW, the roast beef sounds good, would it be possible to get some au jus to go with it, or is the roast beef already dripping with sauce? Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.

Sarah, at least the Eagles are doing better than the Packers, they got creamed on Friday, 27 to 3. I'm not thrilled at the prospects for this season. I can't wait for the Badgers to start playing, though.
