The Niagara Region near Buffalo (where I live) is expected to get as much as 4 inches of rain. I don't know if that will flood us although our U.S neighbours to the east of the Niagara River have flood watches. The greatest concern I have is being that I live close to the escarpment; mudslides.

Kind of light on the produce today: corn, potatoes, canned soft drinks and
pineapples. So Carl, I'll be a making more pineapple upside down
cakes. If Kevin would give me his address, maybe I'd send him a cake
all his own!! And Carl, whatever you want to have with your cake, you can!!

Lunch menu: beef vegetable soup w/cornbread. Think maybe I'll fix myself
some cornbread mush for supper tonight. Anybody else want some?

And speaking of supper, the supper menu will be: hamburgers w/cooked
onions, and fried potatoes. And there'll also be some corn on the cob for
supper.

I guess most of this rain will go east of Chicago; I've heard forecasts of nothing but fair weather through the weekend.

I think I've experienced "remnants" only once or twice. One time we had a rain storm with a very windy period in the middle of it. The other time was more impressive--an amazing cloud bank to the southeast, while our skies were still clear.

I'll keep up the demand for that yellowish cake with the pineapple rings--and I'll bet it would be good with wild strawberries and ice cream, too.

Slightly subdued celebration--passed the 2000-mile mark for the year on my bike yesterday. Subdued because this is far behind where I've been in years past.

I did hear that it would eventually affect New York. That just amazes me!
I am having trouble in my own small world getting my arms around all the destruction this is causing. And it is still August!

Actually, as long as you are a taxpayer, you can consider that one partly yours. It's one of the Shipler Cabins along the Colorado River in Rocky Mountain National Park. Just down the road...er...trail from Lu Lu City (yes, there is a ghost town named Lu Lu City). I wasn't happy of the shot of the 844 and me, so I had to put something else up there. This one fits the bill, for now.

Hopefully someday I'll have a cabin off the beaten path...

Willy, being the son of a dairy farmer, know all about silos and Harvestores, luckily the only one we have is for shelled corn. Tip for other people: Never stand under the silo chute while your father is hauling up a silage fork (I have two holes in my left leg from just such an incident about 13 years ago).

CW, I think I'll try some pineapple upside down, er, right side up, er..., sideways, er......., ah, who cares, I'll try some pineapple cake!!

Larry- Am 18 year vet of VFD. Quit due to politics. You know what I mean. About 8 years ago we had to pull a farmer out of the top of an 80 ft Harvestore silo. Had to climb the cage ladder then lift SCBA and gear to top with rope. Had to bag him in a scopes basket and lower him down. All the time his family and media watching. Really tore my back up that day. He had been farming for 30 years and knew better than to go in without safety gear, in fact he wouldn't even let his farmhands climb the ladder. Most of the guys on the Dept wouldn't climb that for fear of heights. *** newbies! IT'S NOT THE FALL, IT'S THE SUDDEN STOP!

Hi all, been away for the weekend visiting my folks as well as two of my sisters up in Minnesota. Hit the Mall of America not once, but TWICE, [xx(] plus a side trip to the new Ikea store. Didn't make it home until nearly 11 PM last night. Hope all is well here in the diner, I'll try to catch up. Will need to avoid the good meals for alittle bit, though- Mom sure knows how to feed us up there.

Sorry it's been so long since I've frequented my favorite dining establishment. Work, school and life have all been on the busy side of late. I suppose it does keep me out of trouble.

CW, I went out hiking on the Colorado River Trail in Rocky Mountain National Park, and brought back some Wild Strawberries. You'll have to forgive the size- they don't get very big out here. They're really sweet and juicy though! Have some vanilla ice cream that we can put them on?

Katrina, Katrina, Katrina........................ I have to say something about this huge storm. I was told today by my foreman that he was going to ship me and another co worker of mine down south to the good old Mississippi River today, so we could experience first hand what it's like to be in a violent storm. I said hay I wouldn't mind doing that because, then I can watch the rivers and participate in some extreame sports. Like hanging on street signs and letting the wind blow by me. lol ON a more serious note I'm going to give all my blessings to everyone down in Katrina's path.

Well, today I did get to see a car fire today on 476 or the Blue Route as we Pennsylvanians call it. That was really interesting considering the fact that I've never seen a car on fire before however, I did see a truck explode before and that was last week.

To those who asked me about the Packers: Yes I do love the Packers evey though they aren't doing so well as of now. I own a Farve jersey (spelling). However, I don't own one of those Chesse hats. lol. I would like to see the Packers come up in stats though. We'll see if that will happen this year because, last year it didn't.
