Seeing those pictures is making me get anxious to see the hills, valleys, and mountains in good old Penn's Woods when heart of Autum comes around. Over here in PA the trees haven't started to change color yet, everything is still very green. Sarah, One of the advantages to living in a "vertical" state is that we have several stages of autumn. Increasing elevation has a similar effect to moving north for ecosystems. Since I was at 8,000-10,000 feet above sea level for most of that excursion, the climate was similar to traveling fairly far into Canada. So mid-Sept. is great for the high country. In the coming week or so, autumn will move down into the lower altitudes around Denver and such. Of course, after that, I'm headed home to Aurora, IL for a week, and it'll be getting into fall color there (although, I don't know how colorful it will be because of the lack of moisture). This should be around the same time that fall color should be in PA, if I'm guessing right. One of these years I want to head out east for some leaf lookin'. While the color out here can be spectacular, it is essentially monochromatic (yellow) with an occasional, but somewhat rare, splash of other colors. Would love to see some New England foliage sometime. Thanks for the kind words, and hope you have a great autumn in the coming weeks.

Does anybody know where the Burlington Northern SD70s in the Exectutive (creme and green) paint run??? I have only seen one here in Chicago, and was wondering where those things normally run.
QUOTE: Originally posted by CShaveRR Brian, I've seen that locomotive at Proviso on at least one occasion. You might want to correct the name and reporting mark of the railroad involved--it's the Indiana Harbor Belt (IHB). Commonly known as the "Harbor" around here, to distinguish it from the "Belt" (Belt Railway of Chicago, BRC).

It was funny watching that engine just run up the line as far as it could, sit there for awhile, and then head back- it was like they were making a coffee run or something.[:D] Good grief!! By the way that engine looked, hauling coffee may be the only job it can do. Looks like still some old MILW paint with a hand lettering job for SOO. Jay
