The ground is wet, so it must have rained at some point, but it isn't raining right now.  A little chilly so I'll take some of that hot chocolate, Ray.

I'll put in my order for two slices of supreme pizza for this evening.

And a special regards for all of the veterans today.  Thank you for your service to this country!

Good morning folks. It sure is cold here in Sioux Falls. At last report we had a temperature of 19 degrees. I just looked out my front door and it appears to be deceptively warmer than that outside. The temperature is supposed to top out at about 41 degrees here later this afternoon.

While I am here in the Diner, I think I'll make a big pot of hot chocolate for everyone to dip into.

Good morning all, the skies are clearing here and it promises to be a chilly-but-nice Saturday.  I may even get out to get some train pictures today- will keep you 'posted'.

Good Saturday morning!  Joe, thanks for getting breakfast
under way, and making the coffee and juice.

Our morning high was around midnight (mid 50s).  When I
awoke at 6 a.m., our temp was down to 51, and it is now
about 48 or 49.  Supposed to be slowly going down to about
42 around 5 p.m.  We've also got light rain now.  So it's
going to be a dreary day around here.

Joe, think I'll take a cinnamon roll, and another cup of
coffee.

As Joe said, everyone stay warm today, and if you're getting
rain like we are, stay as DRY as possible.

Taking requests for pizza toppings for our SATURDAY NIGHT
PIZZA FEST.
Please have your orders in to me by 2 p.m. EST.

And we play in the snow!!

Got about 3-4 inches of wet, sloppy snow this afternoon, even had thundersnow around 4 this afternoon.  Has pretty much quit now, but the wind is still howling out there, and it's supposed to get down to about 20 tonight.  Supposed to have more on the ground the further north one goes in the state.  Driving was fun, saw a few cars hit the ditch this afternoon, had the truck in 4wd for a little while, untill I got off that madhouse they call the beltline and onto some open road.

Here's the fish, Jay.......  Why are you hanging from the ceiling?  I only blew the horn once! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Weather update from Delavan.  Lightening and thunder, temps just above freezing and there are lumps in the rain.

Randy!  Can you pick up a couple orders of fish to go?  Just pull in the drive and honk.

Thought I would drop in and stay long enough to say hi.  I have been slipping in, grabbing a bite and listening to the conversation.  Just haven't had anything worthwhile to add (as if that was ever a criteria in the past), in part because we have been busy with a bunch of odds and ends.  Pictures and other interesting stuff showing up, so I might have some smart or lame comments down the road, but for now I'll avoid taking up space in the site's storage.

The weatherman threatened snow down here but to this point it has remained in liquid form.  So much easier to shovel off the driveway.  Randy V. might see some later up his way, but he has that four wheeler so I know he can take it.

I'll be around.

Don't worry, CW, I'm a-comin', I'm a-comin'!!

Been involved in a lively discussion on a local forum, seems someone lost sleep Monday night because of train horns, and wants to reinstate the horn ban in Madison. Almost had to borrow the popcorn machine, but decided against it, seeing as I was doing some barbequeing of my own on the topic.

It's raining outside right now, but will change to snow later today, some places might pick up 4-7 inches of the white stuff north and west of here. Quite a change after the 70 degree days of just a few days ago.

Well, be back later, got to go pick up my new glasses, then have Friday overtime at work today. See everyone later.

I got my Halibut on a Perch - looking over the Rainbow at the Doc (so I am dyslexic!)

At least it is sunny and warm in here.  Not too nice outside.  But we will have a moment of silence for a certain Bird that is stuck right up to his beak in a snowstorm in a place no one wants to go, let alone work!

Ok that's long enough - let's eat!

Big Smile [:D]

Morning All,

Well, got my new toy yesterday. The UPS man delivered my new Pentax K100D kit, plus the DA 21mm f3.2 (a lens that I believe I'm head over heels in love with after only one day). Decided to try it out last night down by Union Station. Alas! the "Union Station" sign is not being turned on at night currently due to roof work, or something to that effect. Oh well, guess the picture came out OK anyhow:

I'll be taking the Pentax stuff on my next trip to IL, and I'll post some thoughts on it when I get back (at which time I'll be selling off the Canon stuff if I like the Pentax stuff enough).

Meanwhile, speaking of IL, has anyone seen Carl lately? Haven't seen him in the diner for awhile.

Well, must be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

.....Joe:  You are so right....Bob Sievers....That is the name I was trying to relate to and "The Little Red Barn", yes had forgot about that.  Thanks for the answer.

I agree with your comment of now it being all "talk radio"....I don't understand why a station would go to a total format of such....They alienate roughly half of the audience out there.

Anyway, the comments here on radio does bring back some memories of evening and late night radio...Especially the "clear channel" 50,000 watt stations.  When I was coming across the Pacific Ocean on a troop ship many years ago the first contact with the good ole USA was a 50,000 watt {can't think of the call letters right now}, from Des Moines, Ia...It made a lasting impression on me...just such a small happening....but that was over 50 years ago and it still sticks in my mind.

My home was not too far from the first commerical radio station on the air in the USA...KDKA, Pittsburgh, another "clear channel" station that could be heard from great distances at night.  And one of their announcers from way back in time...Ed Shauncey...{sp ?}, comes to mind.  Just my My 2 cents [2c]

KOMA - Used to listen to that when I was in OKC!  Their DJs were always doing live shows (dances, IIRC) in Colorado, where they apparently had a big listener base.  The OKC TV stations had the tallest transmitter towers I've seen.

Good Friday morning everyone.  Nice and comfortable here this
morning, the temps are in the low to mid 50s right now.  Made
for very pleasant sleeping.

Ray, thanks for getting breakfast ready for me.  Good luck on
your interview at Sam's Club.

Think I'll take a bowl of oatmeal, a slice of toast, and a
couple slices of bacon.

Mookie, do you manage to pull in a radio station from Louisville?  One of our local radio stations, 84 WHAS usually
has people from quite a few northern and midwestern states
calling in to their talk shows.

Wondering this morning, how our friend Dan Harmon is:  haven't
seen him around any of the forums for awhile.  Guess that means
he's back out at sea.  And speaking of MIA friends here, has
anyone heard from Mark, Tina, Josie, and Kevin?!?!

Good morning everyone! The coffee is ready and I've mixed up a fresh batch of orange juice and I've got the hot chocolate out. Breakfast this morning will consist of oatmeal, scramble eggs, bacon, sausage, blueberry pancakes and banana nut muffins, and cinnamon coffee cake.

I woke up about a half an hour ago and we have just a trace of snow on the ground here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The temperature here is at 32 degrees and our maximum high today will be around 44. I will be off to a job interview with Sam's Club at noon.
