We got about an inch of wet stuff on top of our once-clear driveway and sidewalk. While I was at work the wind picked up and the temperature dropped rather quickly. Roads were still OK going home, but I don't know what the cold will do to them by tomorrow morning.

Pinto beans sound reasonable. I used to do quarto beans, but those were twice as big.

I thought she was singing about Sinatra, but since he's D & G, maybe she's not talking because who ever is still alive.

If you are wondering about the Kangaroos, latest word is that they stowed away on a tramp steamer out of Sidney and jumped ship in Duluth. They scare the hell out of the bears and wolves.[;)][:-,]

Oh yeah, just got another three inches of fluff dumped on us since about 6pm. Anybody know how to mount a plow on the front of a 300M? Either that or I am going to have to get a carload of coal to fire up the rotary.

I wonder if that cougar was the same one that was spotted near Kirkwood Community College just south of town here a couple of years back? He could've easily followed the Cedar River down to the Mississippi (or up from there).

Evening all!
We are into stepson's wrestling season full bore, so often 3-4 meets a week. Add in a night or two upstairs working on the Rock and it makes for a full schedule.
Caught up on the last six pages of news. Seems like everyone but Sarah has had it with winter and it's not even officially here.
Mook, we had a cougar around the sandbar about 5 years ago. Several confirmed sightings then he just disappeared. Food pantry must not have been full enough for him. He could've dined on coyotes forever around here. Wouldn't have bothered anyone that hunts bunnies or pheasants. They've really hurt the populations around here.
Mutt- the story was that Carley was singing about Mick Jagger. They had been dating and she thought he was a jerk.
Nothing really new around here, got most of the X-mas shopping done, with Mama in her kerchef, and I in my Cubs hat, we're both about ready for a long winters nap.
One high point on the Rock layout, finally got the coal fired power plant built. Built with DPM modules. My first kitbashed/scratchbuilt ? structure. Now to paint and detail, the fun stuff. Now I've actually got somewhere for my coal drags to stop and unload. Bet that engineer is tired of dragging that load around forever.
Hey Joe, need a lazy strikeout king centerfielder in Cinncy? We've got one to get rid of. We'll probably have to pay someone to take him off our hands.
Chris, am looking forward to getting together over holidays. Will touch base later.
Well everyone stay warm and keep your powder dry. Willy

Okay, put the beans, etc. on hold: made more stir fries for supper, instead.
So, looks like this is Chinese meal day here.

Joe, you're very welcome. Be very careful going to work tonight, and then
coming back home in the morning.

Mookie,Larry,
Has anybody ever figured out who Carly was singing about with "You're So Vain" ??

If my memory is still 'semi' working;and from the interviews that I've seen on P.B.S.,
she hasn't really said;and doesn't really want to say.

CW,I think I'd like to have the #4 "stir-fry" also,sounds good.
Sarah, right now......we aren't getting anything but the "cloudy weather"
in "Anticipation" of things to come...........Sort of the calm before the storm.[:D]

You might be surprised. We were talking to some friends we encountered before the concert. It came out that someone had told some youngsters that they were going to see James Taylor, and the kids went "Who?" A couple of his titles were mentioned and the reply was, "Oh, JT!"

Even though we think kids these days are listening to all that stuff we can't stand, you'd be surprised at some of the stuff of ours that they've embraced.

CW is it too late to eat some of that Number 4 beef, chicken, and shrimp stir fry?? I could use some of that. Oh and I think the storm that you are gettin in Louisville is going to make it's way on up to the great metropolios of Philadelphia. We are supposed to get some snow, rain, and sleet this evening, so that will make the evening commute terrible..........Glad I'm not driving!!!!!! I'll be listing though to hear or to see how many accidents were caused because of the weather.

Beef stir fry please. I've been a bad boy today at work, as it is our food day before Christmas, and I've already had WAY too many brownies. Hopefully I can get back on the diet tomorrow.

Lunch today will be: Stir Fry. Choices of Stir Fry:

1. chicken
2. beef
3. pork
4. special: beef, chicken, pork, shrimp

And there is also some meat loaf left, if anyone would like a
meat loaf sandwich.

And there are more brownies for dessert. Have plenty of
milk to go with the brownies.

....Latest weather system moving through and around us: Has been putting down heavy {very wet big flakes}, of snow now for about an hour or so....but temp is still above freezing so no freezing rain here.....But just the moderate temp to really snow. Looks like the eastern area will get big trouble with ice. Also the mountain range up through the east perhaps will get a bit of it all.....much ice and then snow...Bad combination.

Whew - finally into work. Arrived in my driveway at 1:30 AM after 2 1/2 hours on the road, so getting up "on time" just wasn't in the cards.

The reason for the late arrival? Returning from the James Taylor concert in Rochester last night. Great concert! I'm not familiar with his latest album so portions of the concert took on a "Garden Party" air (when's he gonna play the stuff I know?). It was funny to hear the undercurrent of sing-alongs from the audience with the more popular/better known stuff. Not that I wasn't singing along on a couple of them, too...

So Brunch it is.

Good morning, all! Well, we are getting a nice, gentle rain this morning.
Supposed to turn to nasty stuff later on this afternoon. Our temps this
morning are in the low 40s.

Breakfast this morning: blueberry and apple cinnamon muffins are the
breakfast special today. Of course, you can always have what you like
from the regular breakfast menu of turkey bacon, scrambled eggs,
sausage, biscuits & gravy, etc.

Randy: Chain laws are in effect, saw about 60 trucks waiting to go up over Berthoud or Loveland Pass on the way home.

Chris/Copcar: Saw 4 EB trains back to back in Glenwood Canyon with the Eagle-Gypsum local running around them at 2PM with no Amtrak in sight. Got home to find out that some Semi driver had himself skewered by #5 just before entering the state (no way could anyone imply that he could not see the train coming out there in the "Great Empty". (Darwin proven correct again))[}:)][}:)][}:)]

Carl: Might be hearing a story in Lincoln soon about some guy in a white truck with foreign tags pulling up to the corner and going "catnip little kitty?", then reporting a mauling by a Nebraska mountain lion. (Still having trouble reconciling mountains with eastern NE)..... as in "Elevator, Elevator, we got the [censored]?"

Meatloaf and cole slaw sound good to me. With Diet Dew, of course!

I've got this mental image of Sarah with pads and skates on, hockey stick in hand, waiting for her street to ice over.

Our snow advisory was lifted at about noon. I got out of my meeting and had to scrape ice off all windows. It's still below freezing, so I don't want to shovel while the wet stuff is falling.

Cher, Pat's actually rather proud of her "Grandma" status. Every once in a while, she gets a good laugh out of things that are posted here. (She didn't know whether to laugh or cry at that Lone Ranger joke on the Humor thread, though.)
