Congrats Carl. That losing weight business is tough.

It is officially summer, so we must eat lighter. Don't want to drag a lot of heavy food around all day - so we will have fresh fruit, assorted dry cereals and whole wheat toast for breakfast. Coffee/Tea or Milk. Skim milke, that is. Yummy! [angel]

Doesn't sound very Atkins friendly......

I'll take steak and eggs, no hash browns and a side of bacon...heck and one of ham too.

and coffee please ..strong hot and black ..........milk.........yuck......homey don't do milk....things fermented inside cows.....

Dan - bet you drink water and guess what fish do in water!

Dan,

I'm the same way: for me to drink plain milk, it has to be so cold, it's almost frozen!
But I love to drink buttermilk!! So, give me a big ole glass of buttermilk, with a
grilled cheese on whole wheat toast, please.

I'm already older than I or most of my family/friends thought I'd be. Who has time for milk when there are so many hardworking brewers out there that are trying to put their kids through school!

Besides I eat cheese on just about everything. It's just milk in a glass I don't like. Milk products I eat all the time....daily.

Jim, I've subbmitted one picture to Rail Pictures.net, and they excepted it, but I tried several others and they didn't like them for completely silly reasons. I'm going to probably submit the one I sent you from last night's train later, but we'll see.

I love my milk, have at least a nice tall glass a meal, if not two, I can't live without it. I still think we ought to buy a cow, might save us some money in the long run.

Local was here again last night, really early too. I got some really nice photo's. They had one car they had to set out because of a problem. The part that holds the airhose up by the coupler broke. I heard them say on the scanner that they were going to take it home, but then the conductor remembered the new rule that they can only fix break equipment til they can get it to a place to set out, which is what they did. Now I'm waiting to hear a MoW crew on the scanner down there fixing it.

Jim,

You mentioned that you prefer chicken & noodles to chicken & dumplings. Over the
last several days with my teeth, I've had to eat nothing but very soft food. Last night,
Paula got me a Banquet turkey & dressing dinner. I usually don't eat the mashed
potatoes, but I did last night. And the peas were very soft.

Tonight, it looks like it's going to be Denty Moore's chicken & noodles for me. And
she has stocked up on Chef Boy Ar Dee's mini ravioli for me.

Especially for Locomutt on the breakfast menu: Cream of Wheat, served with your choice of maple syrup or brown sugar. Also available plain.

We may share our strawberries, if we can pick enough tomorrow. It requires a trip into Indiana for us (and maybe we'll have time to come home via Dolton and Blue Island!).

Sister Mook, I'm already "down" to skim milk, and only on the cereal in the morning. It may surprise you to learn that I've gone months without ice cream, and even longer without cheese on my burgers. However, if everybody else has pizza, I'll join in.

I have been having a good laugh tonight reading some of these last few posts. I was just thinking, maybe zardoz and I could combine the Humor Thread and the Diner/Coffee Shop. We could call it "The Coffee Humor Shop" or "The Humor Coffee Shop". [;)] [:D]

I just had some Cream of _____ Soup. Remember I can't say "it" because someone doesn't like it. But I do so I will eat it for both of us.

The 3985 is out of state now. We also had the circus train here over the weekend. It was the "Red" unit. The way it was parked I just couldn't get a good shot of it. One thing that really should out to me this year was the number of "dishes" that the train had. The passenger cars are made so that each car can carry two families. I don't think that you can go from inside one family unit to the other one without going outside and around the car to do so. That is just my guess, I really have not been inside one. Each car toward the end of the train anyway had a "dish" for satelite TV reception. I don't know if the dishes come off for travel or are mounted permanently. Maybe someone else knows the answer to that.

Well I have to go now. The engine is runing out of steam and I still have to stop by the humor thread. [;)]

A few items for coffee chat:

June 22

1847 The doughnut is invented.

1938 Heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis knocks out Max Schmeling in the first round of their rematch at Yankee Stadium.

These from the "This Day In History" website.

I just noticed in my last post that I typed "should" for stood. I was talking about the satelite dishes on the circus train cars. I catch myself doing that a lot. Does anyone else type the wrong word when you mean something else? I didn't change it. I might and I might not.

Okay Mook..

1. Take 5 Motrin Sinus...then wait 20 minutes
2. Look in mirror and place finger on point where greatest point of pain is.
3. Hold finger there and take eyeliner pencil and mark spot with X.
4. Go to garage get driver's cordless drill and 1/4 inch bit.
5. Go back to mirror, center bit on X and drill until pressure relieved.
6. Place breathable bandage on opening and lie down for awhile.

Hey you all, how about the following to go with the cornbread: individual choices or
combination thereof:
l. pinto beans
2. boiled cabbage
3. deviled eggs
4. fried potatoes

And Mookie, I hope the sinus headache has eased up, WITHOUT resorting to
Dan's treatment!!

Mookie,

I sympathize with the sinus headache. I've had more than my share.

I think Dan's remedy is a little severe; however, I came very close to that the
other morning, when I (clumsy me) fell and hit my head on something in
the half bath. Needless to say, I didn't have to get my drill: already had an
extra hole in the head.

CW said I needed to go have stitches, but I was too stubborn. [banghead]

Actually - 2 Tylenol did the job just fine and I could see them in the dark.

They usually aren't all that bad, just mildly inconvenient. However, I will take down Dan's recipe and save it for use on some of my "acquaintences".

Deviled Eggs? You can do Deviled Eggs? Yum!!!!!! [}:)]
