Dad use to make some very good "Goulosh" or however you spell it. You know, hamburger meat, tomato sauce/tomatoes, shell macaroni, onions. It was very good. I really miss it. He made it so well. [:p]

And dad's southern fried chicken was "to die for" and let's not forget the chicken gravy. His mashed potatoes were pretty darn good too. BTW, when he wasn't fighting in WWII he was one of the cooks. He said he would rather fight than cook because their cookstoves would blow up on them. General Patton went through his food line one day and told my dad to "get a hair cut". Now he doesn't need much when it comes to a hair cut. [:0]

I had pizza earlier tonight, but for some reason I suddenly am hungry. Go figure. [;)]

Jim,

That sounds pretty good.
Mom was my best "cook" growing up,Dad actually had trouble boiling water.
Dad also had trouble heating soup!

I like eggs. What ever has eggs in it, I'm good. Maybe, some "Eggs in a Frame" with bacon, and home fries, and some CREAMED CHIPPED BEEF on toast, and a nice cup of coffee, in a B&O mug.

.....A little change of trivia across the counter: Visited our large local Chevrolet dealer today to check out one of our local old car club displays on site...Found a 1949 Chevrolet Delux 2-door coupe with original milage of 20,000...on display. Memories....
White walls about 4" wide....and the interior was mostly original and really nice. Just new floor mats had been installed. So I imagine the little stove bolt of 216 ci shoud still be in pretty good shape.

All right, I don't know about Mook, Nance, Nora, Kathy, etc., but:

I WILL NOT GO AROUND WITHOUT A TOP ON IN THE DEPOT DINER & COFFEE SHOP!!
Besides: that would HURT when coffee or any other hot food is spilled on you!!
(I KNOW from experience what happens when you get hot stuff on you: and I was
NOT topless, either!!)

And no, Jim, DO NOT want to see you WITHOUT a top[:I][}:)][:p][:)]

Why not let KEVIN do the cooking today[?][}:)][8D]

It's Father's Day, and I've been good...you heard about my cholesterol numbers going through the floor. I've also lost five pounds in the past couple of weeks.

But today, I'll take the ribs! We're dining out at a place where I can observe, though not too well, our main line.

(It was my post about the coal cars that brought this on...ribs inside or outside, etc.)

WHOA!
We can't afford a bigger broom closet!
That one is not in the budget!
And if all the rest you all would get out,
maybe I could have room to hide!

Hey - It's a virtual diner. We can make it as big as we like. Same homey atmosphere, though....

Carl,

Are you talking about the human ribs inside our bodies, or the ones that we barbeque[?]

Noah [:)]

When I "hide" I hide in the storeroom. Much larger than the broom closet AND lots of food in there. And my friends, the mice, they keep me company. They are especially trained "watchmice", so when I stick my big foot in my big mouth they can protect me from the females that might come after me. They respond very quickly to the attack word "EAT". ....That is a real neat photo Jim. And the the subject is rare to say the least. Just think sites like this were common 50 plus years ago, but even then when one that size came through I payed attention.

I think you should copyright, but send it to Erik to post as a photo of the day,
Great shot, it has everything, old, good looking steam, people, and new (containers) as a background.

You should see if UP wants to buy it, its that good....

Well Thank You Ed [:D] [:D] [:D]

I shot a whole roll that day, (May 30, 2004) had them developed at Walgreens and had them back by about noon. I did send them that very afternoon, but none ever were posted. [:(]

Funny, but I have heard so many negative things about Railpictures.net that I thought I wouldn't stand a chance. Today was the first submission to Railpicturesnet and it made it. [:)] Since they like that one I will try some more. [;)]

Mutt, they were barbecued ribs, and very good. Three freights went through in the hour or so we were there, too. Unfortunately, my five-pound weight loss was partially negated...

Q - I watch a lot of the old cars drive around Lincoln. Lots of nostalgia around here. I rode around in the back of a '38 Buick as a kid - with jump seats instead of a back seat. Perfect for two little girls to play house in! I didn't like it when they did away with the old whitewalls, but now that I am many years past them, I don't see what I ever thought was cool about them. Ah memories!

I'm back for another week of fun and adventure.

Congrats Carl. That losing weight business is tough.

It is officially summer, so we must eat lighter. Don't want to drag a lot of heavy food around all day - so we will have fresh fruit, assorted dry cereals and whole wheat toast for breakfast. Coffee/Tea or Milk. Skim milke, that is. Yummy! [angel]

...Jen, by coincidence there was a '37 Buick in the group I mentioned above...and the only difference [from '38], would be minor chrome and such....and I too remember the little square seats in back...[in a coupe]. Believe they folded to make room for hauling things. I never collected any antique autos but very much appreciate looking at them and talking to their owners, etc....The fellow with the '49 Chev and I were really on the same page in our conversation that it was scary....but fun. But as you can see from my name...used on the forum here I do have a collection of model cars....and reaching back into that era....

It's not that my body can't handle it.....I have garbage can stomach.....

It's my taste buds that can't. Some time around the age of 14 or so, I just lost the taste for milk. If that's all there is, I'll drink it, but it has to be cold, cold, cold. Milk products...cheese, ice cream, sour cream....I love..they don't bother me at all, I just don't like drinking milk.
