I think I'll help myself to some pie cuz I just finished my research paper. 13 pages and 2,792 words later.....I can't wait for the semester to end in 10 days. I think I'll throw some coffe on even tho it's early. I don't drink it but this way it'll be warm and ready for you guys when you wake up. Plus I have some fresh home made donuts for you folks. Made 'em in the dutch oven just a while ago. Plenty of powdered sugar too!

Brian, I don't remember hearing a total rainfall amount for us today on the 6:30 local
news this evening. Maybe I'll hear it on the 11 p.m. newscast.

Jim, hope you all dry out in North Little Rock. Know you're all hoping to dry out also.

And yes, there's plenty of pork roast, etc. left for anyone who wants some tonight.

Was just watching the Weather Channel- congrats Jim, North Little Rock was tops on the list for rainfall totals over the last 24 hours. Something like 4-1/2 inches, if I remember right. Our predicted monsoon didn't materialize- just 3/4 an inch here.

Jim;the rain and wind came in our area also, they finally gave up
and cancelled the Derby Festival Great Ballon Race, first time for
a complete cancellation in 13 years. ('93 was the last;they usually
try to reschedule during the weekend, but was not to be this year.)

And what do you mean the frogs moved to higher ground?
The ducks were refusing to come out;even with "slickers" on !![(-D]

Whoowhoo, [#welcome] to the Depot Diner and Coffee Shop (DD&CS)!! Always
glad to have new people come in here. To welcome you into the Diner, breakfast
for everyone this morning will be: omelettes. Got one finished and ready for
you to eat whoowhoo, with the ingredients you requested.

Everyone else, let me know how you want your omelette, and I'll whip it up.

Please try to stay dry out there today, everyone, and I'll let you know in a
couple of hours what Sunday Dinner will be. (cause I'm still trying to figure
out a menu for today's dinner/supper).

good morning,
hope you are safe and dry this morning. My old diner was along the Conrail tracks and Sandy knew each of us by name. Mine was always bacon, cheeese omlet with onion, wheat toast and homefries. Coffee black. The conversation was same as here-but we could see the trains through the window-miss that-the diner is now a car dealership. Thanks for listening.

It was a TERRIBLE night at work tonight. It rained, and rained, and rained, then it rained some more. The roads in the yard were flooded half the night. It was a miserable night, the rain was cold and no one wanted to work in it. My shoes will take 2 or 3 days to even try out.

The frogs were taking to higher ground. [:o)]

I have not heard a total but it must be large.

I'll get some soap and shampoo, and we can take our Saturday night baths.

Looks like a band of moderate rain is just about ready to hit Madison, and it could be a few hours before it passes. Local radio was predicting one inch or better rainfall for just tonight. Hope my dad managed to get the low ground planted this week, it could be a while before he gets in again.

Sure thing, half a pizza suits me just fine!

On the other hand, if they're EXTRA large, I don't know if I can handle even that much.

Afternoon all....

Been raining for a while already this afternoon, supposed to be a continous rain untill monday night or thereabouts. Cool enough out that I had to shut the windows, might need a little heat later, but I'll leave it off for the time being. Have been inside working on the computer, working on territories for Train Dispatcher 3. I've been editing my former Wisconsin Central territories up to present day, adding new track configurations and Metra passenger schedules. Maybe this summer I'll take a trip and check my territories against what's out there, it's kind of depending on fuel costs, though.[V][V]

Whew - too nice to be inside today - so I spent all day outside building a new fence (which meant I had to tear out the new one first. Got about 1/3 done on the new one. Gotta clean up now - not that I don't like pizza (I do), but it's a ham dinner at the neighboring firehouse (their annual dinner - one of the perks of being a chief...), so I'll be there.

I had to put a temporary fence to keep the pup in. I used some of that black bird netting (cheap - and it's probably a one time use). The pup didn't run headlong into it, but she took a look, put her head into it - and found out it wasn't budging. Then I get the look like, "OK, how do I get over to you?"

Hmmm... I'll be different tonight and request Meatlovers. I wouldn't hold my breath on the wind dying down anytime soon- the low pressure that's causing it is supposed to camp over Missouri and give us up here in Iowa as much as four inches of rain this weekend, along with high winds.

Dan;on Sat. & Sun.;after the " BRUNCH HOUR",you are pretty much on your own to fix what you want to eat until the evening meal is ready.
So go ahead and fix what you want, just remember to clean up any messes !

Jim;the rain still is not a problem here, although we are supposed to get some
"heavy stuff" later this evening on into tomorrow morning. That, and the upper
atmospheric winds are giving the people in charge of the "Balloon Race" fits.
For safety's sake, they won't launch them if the uppers winds are more than 14mph.
Hopefully they'll get it done sometime tomorrow, without totally having to cancel it.
(last time they had to do that, was in 1993.)

Hey Jim, you going to catch 844 when it comes through N. Little Rock?

You darn right I am. I only wish it was here on the weekend when I drive the truck. That way I could drive up to it and get of the a railroad truck, wearing my rainroad clothing, and wearing my walkie talkie and maybe get "better" than normal treatement. [:D] You know like a special invite into the cab, or into the parts of the train not normally seen by the average railfan. [;)] [8D]

Currently we are having the duluxe car wash from the sky. I have not seen rain coming down like this in ages. Anyone seen Noah lately, I heard he had a big boat. Trust me, on a day like today, a big boat is almost necessary.

I hope it is not raining on the 844. Last I check it was running behind the rain. But it very well could catch it in more ways than one. [;)]

I do have a thread going where you can track the progress of the train. I am trying to keep it updated as to the latest location of the 844 and its consist.

WOW, I just looked out the door. Our ditches have flooded and there is debris from the ditch all over the road. The road is almost a river right now too. [:0] [B)] [8]

The steps are a waterfall right now. That is how hard it is raining. This is not good. I expect to hear of some roads being closed before long. I hope people will not try to drive over flooded roads and bridges but I bet Larry would say otherwise.

About a week ago, a forum member from northwest Arkansas emailed me some photos of a school bus that was caught in a flash flood. It was carried down stream for a ways before lodging again some trees. [:0] I think everyone was ok, just shaken up a bit.

Well I better start getting ready for work. I need to take advantage of any break in the rain to head to work.

Everyone Take Care

Joe, you did it again: How did you KNOW what I was serving for Saturday brunch
this morning?!?![:I][^] Glad you had the coffee ready when I got in here.

Right now, we are getting a light rain. The marathon runners don't mind that; but
the "upper" winds made them cancel the Balloon Race for this morning. Hopefully,
they'll be able to get off the ground in the morning.

Everyone have a great and safe day, and be sure you're back between 6:30 and 7:00
EDT for our Saturday Pizza Fest. Anybody have any special pizza requests
for tonight?
