Looks like my number has been called:

1: BC - I think you just jiggled the knob to the closet. Come out of there!

2: Kozzie - welcome back.

3: Anyone on east coast want to rail some of that water back here - I will even share with Chris and my favorite free-range chicken. We get lots of clouds, but no water! We are parched! Obviously the rain is being delivered by one of my two paper people deliverers. They can't seem to find us either!

4: Jay - I think you need to rest - take the hammock and put a cool cloth over your eyes.

5: Don't you just love the accent the Aussies bring to the diner. Since I speak flat English, I love any kind of an accent. Don't always understand it and have to have them repeat a few things, but do love it.

Always wanted to be left-handed, too.

Now you know more than you really wanted to know!

Oh yeah - went for a bone density scan yesterday. As we, ahem, mature - we lose height due to our brains getting heavier and pushing down on the rest of the body. (you are buying this aren't you?)

Anyway, they recommend it especially for women, since we have to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders and our brains are heavier.

Tell your female family members or female friends - it is a snap. They let you lie down with a pillow no less. They do a Star-Trek thing where they run a machine over you - nothing touches you and you can keep all your clothes on! Best doctor appointment I have ever had!

10 min and you are done! And you see the funny pictures that show you have bones!
I looked at the screen and it looked like a great BBQ was going on!

Which reminds me - breakfast is overdue. Think I will ask CW for a badger paw. Tree's bear claws might be too big.

Time zones may be fun, but I think Hemisphere's are even more fun. How's your winter? Mind if I come down there until about Mid-Sept? We never got much of a Spring here, and have already had far too much summer, IMHO.

BTW, does the toilet REALLY go the other way (sorry...just couldn't resist that one while talking about hemispheres! [;)])

Hi Chris

To cut a long story short, I took time off without pay from my job to move interstate, with a view to getting work there. That's because my wife (who I recently married back in April), lived there, and we thought I could get work in that area. Anyway, due to family responsibilities we agreed to move back to Brisbane and I'm back at my old job.

Things are finally cooling off down here - Summer was a stinker and lasted well into Autumn. Last night we had about 5 degrees Celsius (I think about 40 Fahrenheit) with a lovely max of 22 deg Celsius (low 70s in F I think...)

Brisbane is rated as being in the sub-tropics, so we won't get much colder than that. I think we have similar weather to Florida....very warm humid summers and brilliant winters...

Dave

Dave, If its not too personal, what side of Brissie are you? I'm the northside (Bracken Ridge)...

oh yeah,.... Gday guys, you may remember me I stopped in a couple of times but haven't frequented the place, I know it's great, so I'm going to try stop in more often....[8D]

Good Wednesday morning, everyone! Looks like another nice day on tap!!

Kozzie, welcome back! Glad you're back with us. How's married life treating
you, so far?

And Carl, it's good to see you back, also!! Please don't be such a stranger
around here, all right?

Coffee is on, and the orange juice is ready.

Breakfast this morning: you've got your choice of oatmeal and toast, sausage,
sausage gravy & homemade biscuits, scrambled eggs, and hash browns,
along with some watermelon chunks.

Everyone have a great day, and let me know, please, what you'd like for lunch and
supper today.

If you are standing on the ceiling of a bathroom in Australia, is the water still circulating in the opposite direction?

Maybe has enough power to maintain original direction of rotation until it dissipates.....???

I'm by no means an expert on this subject, Kozzie, but I think the natural weather patterns won't allow a hurricane or cyclone to get anywhere near the equator- I'm sure some of the more weather-wise members will correct me if I'm wrong.

Supper tonight: you have a choice of Mexican: tacos, burritos, enchilladas, or you
can have bbq ribs, w/baked potatoes. Have plenty of margarine (butter) and sour
cream for the potatoes, and corn on the cob.

Sure is a very pleasant afternoon. We've had slight chance of showers, t-storms,
but nothing around us yet. Maybe it'll bypass us.

Everyone have a pleasant evening.

Joe and everyone, you're in luck today: got another watermelon at Produce this morning,
along with onions, potatoes, lettuce and cauliflower.

Lunch today: burgers w/sauteed onions, fried taters, steamed cauliflower, and tossed
salad.

Joe, will probably HAVE to use Mutt's sledge hammer, or his sword to cut into that
watermelon. It's got a very thick rind, and you can't even cut through it with a butcher
knife.

Carl & mudchicken, Larry's is so right: you two do provide us with great information,
and we are truly blessed to have you two here on the forums. You both share your
knowledge with us, and for that we are glad.

I have been pretty busy trying to keep in touch with people who could track and trace the steam engines as they made their way north. They took a strange route. It definately was not a straight shot or the quickest route to get their. [B)] But they finally made it to Galesburg. So we will continue to monitor them and see what is going on with them. [:)]

Today is one of my days off BUT, I have to go in for loco moving recertification. So this week I will only get one day to myself.

The weather is not as hot this week. The humidity is lower too. [:)] We have been having some nice wind from the north too.

OK - Loading up on Gatorade. Get to spend the rest of the day at North Yard (purple haze!, again) ducking Uncle Pete's yard engines and then off to DUT....Now that the swede (geodemeter/trimble) has been skewered, the Japanese guy (Sokkia/Leitz) gets a chance to produce.

Note to all patrons - Six Shooters and Brass Knuckles to be checked at the door...

It's interesting to note that both MC and Carl are real railroaders (each in his own way), dealing with the big iron on a daily basis, and they still come in here with those of us who do our railroading virtually or through the lens. Thanks for your time and your knowledge, guys!

Same on the 3000 post guys. Fritz will come in this morning and do the watermellon clean-up. His specialty is clean up of anything with a high sugar content. I guess the cat didn't get sprayed with flying watermellon juice because otherwise we would witness a dog "grooming" a cat.

Let see, the agenda for today is mowing before the pm rains arrive, house keeping and packing for a trip down to Cincy for a few days. Nothing about train stuff on the list.[sigh]

Tip Top of the Morning to you all,

Sorry about my absence yesterday...it was one of those Mondays I guess.

Well, could've gone storm chasing yesterday, but not in one of the usual spots out on the plains. There were several reports of tornadoes in the San Luis Valley around Alamosa yesterday. That's kind of an odd occurence. Thankfully it doesn't sound like there was too much damage done.

Congrats to MC and Carl on the 3000 post mark. It certainly is a blessing to have so many knowledable people around here willing to share their wisdom. Thanks guys!

Well, guess I had better be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!

I am exhausted. Been out cleaning up some forum postings! Gotta come to diner and unholster my 6-shooter!

Hey all! Monday afternoon - and I saw all of the following!

A thermite weld in progress. Lots of Tonka Toys. A really, really cute mini-cat on a flatbed - a D64? It was just a mini-version of the big guy.

Also saw - a Dash 9 - (big deal) but the G28 behind it was!

And a CSX SD50! (8572) (according to my book)

Good afternoon trackside! I think I am in love!

Moooooo.....
