I think it was the last time I had my teeth cleaned that the hygienist noticed a discolored spot in my mouth; it turned out that the spot was an opening which allowed the pressure from decay to be eased so that I did not know that I needed work done on a tooth
Johnny, it appears {probably}, I did....The work done this morning was 10 times less expensive than the estimate....!!
Decay had set in under a crown....But, our resourceful dentist, drilled thru that and drilled out the decay. He indicated the decay had not got to the nerve yet, so the repair could be done as such and then filled.
The other possiblity was a root canal and new crown...Not cheap. So if we get away with this repair just accomplished, hooray...I have antibiotics to take now...{less than 10 dollars}, to keep any infection away, etc.....
If this all is successful, I'd say we've had a great morning at our good dentist's office.

I still don't feel like a spring chicken today, but it's better than yesterday. Now that 24 hours have gone by, I'm supposed to rinse my mouth with warm salt-water every few hours. I guess it's supposed to reduce swelling and ease the pain.

I quit looking in mirrors along time ago just for the simple fact that I didn't want to face my stupid Landlord!
CW had to go run a few errands, so she asked me if I could take care of the lunch menu, so here goes;
The grills are going, there are hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, steaks being done now; along with corn on the cob and other "steamed" vegetables. (and Boy are they steamed! Especially after a certain story I told them!)
Tossed salad, cole slaw and desserts are on the side bar, so everybody "Chow Down"!
Nice cooler day here today, temps to only get into the high 70s today and I think it's going to have to struggle to get there.....only around 71 degrees right now. (1341 hours here)
Kinda hope it stays that way, maybe I'll get a chance to go railfanning after a bit.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Mom is now out of ICU and working on what we think might be the last IV she'll need. Baby is healthy and with her. She will probably come home tomorrow barring any problems.
Years ago I asked my dad what he was worried about one day. His reply was that I'd understand someday once I had my own family. I think I have a much better appreciation for a lot of things after what we went through...and he's only 3 days old! Just for the record...poopy diapers aren't that bad.

Got grandpas yard mowed today. Also got one of the doors made. The other will have to be made again... When using a circular saw, you must be precise.
Well, after we got the door made me and grandpa heard a loud BOOM! SCREECH!!! We looked out from the garage to find grandpas neibghor standing by his John Deere mower with a person and a blue moped laying next to it. The guy on the moped smashed into Tom's mower. (Tom = grandpas nebighor) The guy had bleeding from the mouth. We called the ambulance, and thay took him away. Smashed the front of Tom's mower in really bad. Also peeled the side of the scooter off. (Like a bananna)

Well, our high today was supposed to be about 78 degrees. We didn't make it: our official high for today, as reported on the latest news/weather update is 71. Second coolest temp on record for this date. Back in 1986, I believe they said, was the coolest for July 1: 73 degrees then.
Mutt, you did such a fantastic job of grilling, that there is enough left for supper tonight.

At least, I was able to cut another piece to fill my error in. What's really bad is cutting too short; if you cut too long, you may be able to cut it right the second time.
Can you sleep nights for thinking about your upcoming trip? I wish you and your family well in your vacation trip to Colorado and back. As the Southern Pacific used to say (a long, long, time ago) "Getting there is half the fun."

Tom, whatever are you talking about?! Thanks for starting things this morning; seems when CW turned the computer on, she had "updates and changes" to be added, then restart the 'puter. All was well there, but seems that either ISP or browser (or both) wouldn't let her get up on the internet to do anything.
She got frustrated and handed it off to me; and after another restart (and some cussing) I made it onto the internet and here finally. She should be in semi shortly to get everything else going.
Temp. here right now is 69 degrees, going for a predicted high of 83 this evening. At least the oppressive heat and humidity have left the area for awhile; or course later this month that Will change, and we Will get back into that pattern again.

Just walked out to the back edge of our lot and it seems to confirm my suspicions we are now mole free and I wanted to check how wet the grass was from the dew....None...! Simply dry. No moisture in the atmosphere here. For mowing reasons....that's good. As the next task at hand we'll be mowing.
Shrubs are all nice and neat now, and with a mowing, we should look pretty good. Flags in place at back {as golfers go by they can see}, and a group of 7 out front. So looks like we're presentable for our Nations's holiday.
Quiet in our neighborhood this morning...but we'll be hearing some cracks and booms over the next 2 days. Nice celebrations going on in the little town we're part of now...{Yorktown}, over today and tomorrow. Big picnic area and ball fields near the edge of town makes great locations for get togethers. Small town America...Guess that's what it looks like to me this morning.

Good Friday morning, everyone. Tom, thanks for getting things under way this morning. As Mutt said, after having to do two restarts due to updates, the puter was giving me a royal headache!! That's when I relinquised the puter to him.
Since it's now mid morning, I've made up some BLTs for our Friday Brunch, along with some danish: raspberry, blueberry and plain danish with white icing (get the red, white and blue theme?). Don't worry Larry: your bear claws are still here also!!

Well, it's in the upper 60s right now. We have some sprinkles around and the clouds don't look like they're going to move out for most of the day. In fact, some severe thunderstorms are possible this evening, right about the time that my favorite fireworks display will be.
I should have had my wisdom teeth pulled a day or two before Halloween. All I'll have to do is step out the door today and I'm sure people will be running in fright.
Justin, on what day exactly are you going to come west through Omaha on the California Zephyr? If it's not running too late, I'll watch you go by, since the BNSF is just a few blocks from my house.

I go the day off of work today as well because of the Federal Holiday. It continues very hot and dry here in Alamo City. Our expected hit today is 101, 102 for Satuday and 104 for Sunday.
Despite the heat, it has the makings for a great holiday weekend.

Rain cancelled the fireworks tonight. Things cleared up and some folks were wondering why, but that line of showers due in about 10-ish would have doused the crowd pretty well....
Getting things loaded up for a couple of days on the railroad. Hard to say what kind of crowds we might have. Sometimes the rain actually increases our ridership...

1853 miles, 254 gallons of diesel #2, average MPG of 7.3 (not bad for flat ground), and all in three days....
Might actually get to the house to celebrate the fourth after all. Only about 6-7 hour drive to Richfield, then 1 hour home, and probably take rest of weekend off, have to get a DOT physical Monday.

Dan, seems like Aurora has had probs in the past, my friend's wife had many complications (some caused by staff mistakes), she missed out on about the first three months of her daughter's life. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

happy 4rth of July.Dan we were busy with chores and company yesterday.I didn't even look at the computer at all.My sisters Sweedish visitors are actullay in Louisville right now visiting their cousins.Lisa wants to look at the horses.Jon wants to go to the Louisville slugger museum.They are going to go to Virginia and then New York to finish their trip.They are also going to go to a Dodgers/Mets game.So we gave Jon a cheat sheet on how to keep score.We all had a great time.we stopped and watched Defiances fireworks on the way home.Tonight its Napoleons fireworks.When Matt wakes up we are going to see what csx is running.Might not be too much today.They have been dropping rail in town.The breakfast bar is ready to go.Everyone enjoy.

I'll be firing up the charcoal grill after a little bit, and will start grilling all the hot dogs, hamburgers, brats, corn on the cob, veggies, and whatever else any of you want fixed on the grill.
This has been a busy week around our house. Been having some work done on the outside of the house: gutters. They are supposed to be here sometime this morning, to finish up what little bit they have to do, to sign off on the job. After they finally left about 4:30, 5:00 last evening, we hopped into the Jeep and went to the new Peddler's Mall that just opened up Wednesday. Pretty nice set up at this new location. It's on the second floor of a building that used to house a Bacon's department store, before Dillard's took them over. Not completely set up with booths, but there was a lot of booths, with plenty more room for a whole lot more. We got some interesting buys.
Everyone have a terrific 4th of July morning, and Be Careful with the Fireworks!!! See you all after a bit.

CW, was rooting around in the IN and KY DOT websites, I see that as soon as studies are done and money is available, they will be rebuilding Spaghetti Junction, as well as the Ohio river bridge on I-65. Should be interesting when (IF!!) it gets built....
Everyone have a good and safe fourth, and remember, alcohol, vehicles, and explosives do not mix. Am sure I will see my share of idiots out here today, especially around Chicago.

Randy, That's all they've been doing for the last 15 years....are studies about "Malfunction Junction"! By the time they get around to building the bridges (if ever) everything will be more obsolete than it is now! I would LOVE to have some of the "Tax Dollars" that have already been spent on those "Studies"!!
I know EVERYWHERE has their NIMBYS; but we sure have a BUNCH here that don't want any more bridges across the Ohio.......we only have three, and none of these people seem to care what would happen if even one of those bridges got put out of service! Louisville is like a lot of other cities right now in having very big budget problems, but yet is still building a new basketball arena downtown, and still trying to make this a "World Class City", but seemingly dosen't care how the traffic is going to get in and out of the city. (seems the roadways are much lower on the list than the arena, go figure?!)
CW mentioned that we had gone out to a "Peddler's Mall" and wound up with a few things; well, I wound up with a used mountain bike at a Very good price......Joe, you and Matt come down here and we'll all go riding around some of our bike trails. One of them starts at Clagg Tower (old Pennsy lift bridge) and goes towards the old K & I T yard, (now NS) along the canal and locks and dam.
