Mookie Went out to eat and had a "Flat Wheel Diner moment". They were serving little two inch squares - one each - of tiny chocolate cakes with something like chocolate mousse filling and a thin frosting with a slight coffee flavor. I thought I died and went to heaven it was so good! Very nice weekend!

We're having an impromptu BBQ with potluck---4 families in the neighbourhood show up and we go to the BBQ------I've marinated some 16oz 'eye-of-round' ---(what? no 'eye of triangle?)--so there we go--
Managed to get some plantings switched 'round---now to see if'n they'll take---mind, this all done AFTER the ol' fashioned 20% 'isolated' shower--isolated itself over here and monsoonded itself all over us ----

Had a lovely day for Father's Day. Blue sky with cotton ball clouds, humidity not too bad, summer heat - but in the shade, very nice with a cool breeze.

Finally got out with the camera yesterday. The subject wasn't trains, but just as fascinating- went to the Quad Cities Air Show. The orientation of the show with respect to the audience doesn't lend itself well to photos (and I have a sunburnt face and lower lip to prove it), but here's a couple that turned out acceptably.

Interesting day on the railroad - when I got there, one of the locomotives was missing!
Seems it went to spend time with a sister who just came out the the shop. They were running trips out of Utica.
That wouldn't be so bad, except it meant we only had one F unit, and it was facing north.
Rather than run that unit backwards, we went to the old standby - something we do every day during the summer - pushing the train in one direction. Only the normal push is only 6 miles at 15 MPH. We were doing the 10 mile trip, and up to 30 MPH is allowed. So we pushed south.
Certainly tests ones knowledge of the territory!

Got home to Audrey watching an old video---something called "Potemkin"---ol' Russian thing--
Had to go looking for sister after her car went PTOOF!! out on the 401 just outside of town---had to get her towed back to Woodstock-----now she has to look for new car as old one has died---
Nice and sunny out---bit breezy but a little less sticky-----but now we're hearing that we will get some more rain tomorrow-----grumble grouch----
Well, we had a pretty good turn out for the fair today! There was plenty of workers, so I was just a floater/relief person, in case someone wanted to take a break, go in where it was cool, get something to eat, drink, or just cool off for a few minutes, etc.
Here is our Saturday Night Pizza Fest menu:
1. Anchovie 2. Canadian bacon 3. Goetta 4. Hawaiian 5. Pepperoni/mushroom 6. Supreme 7. Italian sausage calzones
Ice cream for dessert in the following flavors: chocolate, vanilla, peach, strawberry (all homemade). I thought that might help all of us cool off after this hot, hot day.
Everyone have a great evening, and take care.
Willy2 Murray, I'm sorry to hear you're so far below average for rainfall this year. Once it does rain, it'll probably be too much at once. That always seems to be how it works.

....And we're on the other side of the ledger....7 plus inches above normal.
Good morning,
It's 78 degrees and humid this morning. We have rain on the way tonight, and then we could come pretty close to 100 degrees by Monday and Tuesday.
UP 844 lost so much time on its way to Omaha yesterday that I wasn't able to see it, since I had to be at work at 5:30. However, I'll have another chance to see it on Wednesday when it leaves town.
Hope everyone has a good day!
Willy
Morning all!
Whew! Our county (Fountian) was one of the first ounties to be hit by the incoming storms. Has a trace amount of straight line winds I thnk. Shingles off neibghors roofs, and I've counted 4 trash barrels in our yard. Will go and put "For sale" sighns on them later!!! But on a more serious note. We really doged a bullet with this storm. Funnel clouds were spotted in a few counties around ours. So we were really lucky. Supposed to be really hot and steamy again. CW, Looks like the cold front that brought us all those storms this morning is sittng idle over you guys. CW, thanks for the cinamon rolls thay are delicious!
Everyone have a good day, and stay safe. I will see you later on!
Good Morning All! Currently cloudy and 78 here in Alamo City. Expected high today of 100.
Without any measurable rain in about the next week, we expect to drop to Phase 3 water restrictions. We are about 9 inches below normal for rain for the year here.
Enjoy your Saturday!
Well, hello there! 83 and sunny in Carolina at present. It's gonna be a hottun today with a weatherguess of 99, with a heat index around 106 or so. It seems that you folks up north have been getting our thunderstorms. For a change, we had a day without any and you are most welcome to take them off our hands. Now, about the heat......

Good Saturday morning, everyone. Joe, thanks for getting the drinks ready this morning. We had a power outage around 3:30 this morning, when some thunderstorms came through. Walt and I slept through it. Didn't know about it until I woke up around 6:15, and saw the clock radio blinking. So I had to go around and reset some of the clocks. The only clock to reset is the one in the laundryWalt's work room. And more than likely, the Sarah's clock in her bedroom.
Today is our Fun/Health Fair at St. George's (where I work on Tuesdays). Going to have the fire department, inflatables, and health information/screening booths, and some little critters from the Louisville Zoo. I hope they have a very good turnout, even though it's going to be very hot and humid today.
I've got breakfast set out on the warmer bar: bagels, bear claws, cinnamon rolls, and BLTs on toasted bread. There's also some cantaloupe chunks and watermelon chunks in the cooler.
Everyone have a good morning, stay as cool as possible, and take care. See you all back tonight for our pizza fest.
Good morning---
We had our usual middle of the night wake up call from a t'underin' boomer complete with barrels of monsoons for our floating deck----
It's currently rainin' --- still and appears that we will see this for much of today----Sunday will be dull but no rain--
Audrey and I are going downtown to see an exhibit that a friend has at an art gallery---maybe find a piece again------as if we don't have any----
The weather system that pelted us overnight has moved on.....Lots of rain and some wind. Didn't hear much of it and have not checked rain gauge yet. No damaging stuff right here in our area that I know of at this time.
It's still hot....and humid, that is certain. But looks like we may be in for sunshine over the remaining weekend now.
3 days since I mowed and it really looks like I may have to consider it again today....That I really don't mind. But must bite the bullet soon and service the tractor....Oil, filter, lube, blade sharpening, etc....
More shrubs to trim...on going in the Summertime...which I suppose starts tomorrow, officially.
Guess Father's will be out checking out their new "toys" tomorrow....
Edit: Rain gauge had 3/4".....Not too bad. Thought it might have been more.
good morning
happy fathers day weekend to all the other dads out there.the rain has moved out of NW ohio.Need to go to the hobby shop and get some couplers and coupler plates. It looks alot better in the train room.I have another project to start today as well.A local guy has his garden railway on display this weekend too.matt and I will be sure to check that out.Breakfast juice and coffee are ready to go as well as some lemonade. Will be back for pizza tonight.
Evenig all!
Really humid today also hot. As stated before. was 89 but now 86*F with about 95% humidty. Ended up taking the dog inside today, he still is inside, and is currently laying behing me with the fan blowing on him.
CW, Fish is good! As always!
Speaking of A/C, have you seen the commertials for the new Prius? I think it was clevar how thay used solar power to make A/C. Maby a future locomotive idea there?
Well, everyone enjoy there weekend!
T-minus 3 weeks 1 day till' our Amtrak vacation!
DeggestyDifferent places, different climates. About three weeks ago, I got our swamp cooler (evaporative cooler) ready to run
93.2 and rising...and plenty of humidity to go with it today....Sure has been delayed in coming this season. June 19th, and just starting A/C is really off base in being normal for here.
Yes, Johnny...I am familiar with "swamp coolers" and realize how effective they are in climates with really low humidity. Many years ago we did automotive testing in the Kingman, Az area and our leased garage was cooled with a swamp cooler....Felt just like A/C. Humidity there would often be below 10 %.
Modelcar....Finally....A/C engaged.
Different places, different climates. About three weeks ago, I got our swamp cooler (evaporative cooler) ready to run--it still can use a new belt, and I cannot find one of the right length--and I have had to let the furnace run again (it comes on in the mornings). When the weather turned cool after I opened the inside vent, I stuffed a foam pad into the opening to keep the cool air out--and I have had to put it back in three times because a strong wind out of the west blew it out. This is the latest that I can remember that we have had such cool weather lasting. The rains are almost over (I need a good one to see if the leak in the roof was stopped or not).
I went to visit my colon surgeon yesterday afternoon. His PA was satisfied with what I told her about my behaviour, and told me that he wants to look up inside me again (after three years) this fall.
Take care.
Johnny
Yeah, it's getting really hot and muggy here in Louisville. And I'm not paying much attention right now to see what the current temp is. I don't even want to know, right now.
I've got our Friday Fish Fry on the warmer bar: the regular list of fish, along with fries, hush puppies, breaded fried mushrooms, baked beans, cole slaw, garden salad, macaroni & cheese, etc.
Desserts are the regular pies and cobblers, along with plenty of homemade ice cream, all varieties that we normally have here.
Everyone stay as cool as possible, watch out for these pop up storms, and take care!!
....Finally....A/C engaged. Temp here at 7 this morning was 76 degrees and humidity has elevated, so this was the day to close the windows.
We were to have scattered thunderstorms earlier today but that was cancelled and now we're enjoying sunny and clear skies. Thundertorms are in the forecast for later today and tonight....but scattered.
It grumbled, rumbled, and spattered all night and my weather station indicates that we got only 0.41" out of it. In fact, the airport only got 0.06", which is typical. Call me crazy, but I'd rather be getting what Brian and Joe have experienced over the last 24 hours.
UP 844 is coming to town today, so I'm going to see that and then it'll be off to work this evening.
Morning All!
I slept like a big bolder last night so I don't know if we got any rain or not. Going to be a very very hot and very humid day today. Again, thank goodness for A/C. Now supposed to get up to 93* and will feel like over 100* with high humidty levals.
CW, Thank you for breakfast. Good as alway's! Joe, good luck on those railcars! I hope you can get them repaird! Speking of that, last night I found my Spectrum UP RSC-2 #1286 in my clauset. I dusted it off and put her on the rail again. Runs like the day I got her. A better cleaning job will be needed later today though...
Well, seeings we have a heat advisory out today, I hope everyone will take it easy as much as possable today. I will see you all tonight!
