Mornin all. Currently 76 and sunny in Carolina this lovely day, enroute to 89 and of course more thunder, probably seevnin. I am watching Gustav closely and lo and behold, Hanna is turning southwest toward Cuba and may wind up following Gustav before it's over. Things may get interesting in the gulf. Everybody take care

Morning all.....

Busy week, complicated by the truck acting up a bit, due to a plugged air filter, had that changed and now the turbo noise drowns out the fan, instead of the other way around.  Leaving Perrysburg (sorry, Joe, forgot about you wanting to see me!) shortly for Saratoga Springs, NY, then over to Baldwinsville for a Bud load to Georgia for Tuesday delivery.  Should be interesting once I get down there, because I put in to be home next weekend (didn't go home this weekend because parents are in northern WI visiting moms' brother who just got back from Germany, and is being transferred to Fort Bliss, TX).

Time to roll, see you all later.....

.....Our not so early start here this moring has the temp at 63 degrees and bright sunshine shining thru my neighbors trees.

Looks like our only chance of seeing some rain in this area will be from the mix of hurricanes after they hit landfall and dissipate and spread the rain rings north.....If they do, that is.

Ed {Houston}, said he is ready for what's coming.  Would be nice if {both of the systems would fizzle out, but sure doesn't look like that at this point.

And so begins the last holiday of summer....Oh my....where did it go.

Good Saturday morning everyone!  Joe, thanks for getting everything going this morning. Managed to sleep in a couple of hours this morning, so still trying to get my eyes open, as the old saying goes.  I'll take a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll.

Well, we did make it to the Flea Market yesterday, and no, we didn't see any fleas.  Saw a few old railroad lanterns, and an old L&N first aid kit (empty of first aid supplies, though).  The price on that was either $33 or $35.  But it looked in pretty good shape.  Didn't see much rust, or chipped or cracked paint on it.  Also saw lots and lots of old toys, telephones, dishes of all kinds, cast iron skillets, baking pans, dutch ovens, etc., and quite a few porcelein enamel cookware.  I also saw homemade fudge, in just about every flavor and flavor combination you could think of.  But, I was very good, and didn't buy any fudge.

You all have a great day, and stay as cool as possible.  We are at 77 now, going for a high of 93, is what I believe I just heard on the weather report.  (yuck).  And, no rain in sight.

My sister (and her husband/kids) arrived tonight from Ft. Knox after a long drive.  It was good to see them!  I even took my nieces out to watch some CaNoodle action...and saw lots of NS run through power and some of Mookie's BNSF locos in the area.  Everything but CN!  The at least liked it!  It's a good sign.

Mornin glory. At present,  and fog in Carolina, headed for 90 and more thunder later today. It is a bit wearisome to have the same stuff every day. FWIW, I don't get out much, but had an excellent dream of watching a loco work from a cab ride somebody gave me. I don't remember most dreams, but this one is nice. I think I will take a nap and see if I can catch the return trip. Take care.

TGIF!

With vacation and my regular work schedule (9 hour days with a day off every two weeks) this is the first five day week I've worked in well over a month.  It's killing me!

Warmer here this AM than it has been - the furnace has been a consideration several days when overnight temps dipped into the 40's.  The weather forecast for the weekend no longer contains rain, and that's a good thing.

I'll be in the corner with my bearclaw and tea, reading an old issue of Trains....

.....Looks like another sunshine day here.  Temp now, 72.  That's 2 degrees higher than yesterday.  Still dry....!

Sis in Law over in Pennsylvania indicated she ran her furnace for a short time yesterday to take the chill off in the house.  And an all day rain.  Quite a difference 400 miles makes.

Our "evening train" we often see at or McD's. parking spot, had so many ADM tank cars last evening.....Seems to be increasing as time goes by.  It was eastbound.

Good Friday morning, everyone!  Still stuffed up and snuffling, along with itchy eyes and sneezing.   I hope Mookie, and anyone else being bothered with allergies is doing all right this morning.

Mookie, I think that engine would look very good in your backyard!  Especially in the green and white colors.  Smile [:)]

Coffee, hot tea, iced teas, lemonade, are ready to go.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  fresh fruit along with the Friday Danishes, doughnuts, bagels, bear claws and muffins.

You all have a great morning, and if anyone is going to be leaving to travel for the Labor Day Weekend, please be cafeful out there on the roadways, & be careful around train tracks.

That's neat, Tree. It would be nice if if we could load it onto a flat car and ship it to Mookie in Lincoln, Nebraska by way of either the BNSF or the UP.

Hello everyone!  Just now getting in here after being in this morning.  Still have a headache, and can't decide if it's sinus related, allery related, or plain ole migraine.   We had a house fire about two and a half blocks southwest of us this afternoon.   Surprisingly, with my nose all stuffed up, and snuffling, I could smell the smoke from our front porch.  Walt and I walked over, and a few pieces of fire aparatus were still on the scene, as well as a couple of ambulances.  I think Walt got a couple of pictures, but I haven't seen them  yet.

Here is our supper menu for tonight:

Hamburgers w/fried taters, your choice of garden salad, cole slaw; or

steak w/baked potato and sauteed mushrooms & onion and garden salad

As far as our temps went today, we started out in the low 70s this morning, and got up to 92.  Our outdoor thermometer is showing about 90.  We have a chance of some rain to start the day off tomorrow.  Guess we'll see in the morning.

You all have a great evening.  Mookie, take care with those allergies!
