Evening all.....

And the boogity boogity parade keeps going, parked for the night near Ashtabula, OH, on my way to Ohio's largest brewery in Trenton.  Just wishing the idiot next to me would shut off his truck, it's a beautiful night to sleep with the windows open.

Jay, great to see you around, hope to see more of you.

Mudslinger Chicken, have seen some of those items flying down the interstate, those oversize boys take the cake sometimes, always interesting to see what comes down the road sometimes (once saw a hopper car on it's side on a flatbed trailer, only thing missing was trucks).

Larry, I see the color is starting to pop on I-81, in two weeks it should look stunning in that area.  Since I started driving, love the color in New York, PA, and West Virginia in the fall.

Time to snuggle under the covers, temp is already in the 50s here, should be great sleeping weather.....

Randy near Ashtabula, OH

Fixed Chinese for tonight:

1.  Chop Suey

2.  Chow Mein:  beef, chicken and shrimp

3.  Won ton soup

4.  Special fried rice

5.  Pepper steak

Got measured for the knee brace; now, have to wait for insurance to approve it.  Wonder how long that will take.   Especially since a prescription was written for the brace.

You all enjoy your supper, and have a nice evening.

....A beautiful day here at the noon hour....Beautiful sunshine and moderate temps with low humidity.  Perfect.

And I just returned from the dentist...{5 min. away}, and we had a lost filling replaced.....It only took 10 min. in the chair.  But, it's not surprising, this dentist has a great group of professionals {female}, and they really know what they are doing.

Seems to be lots of train activity on the Frankfort line of NS this morning.....Quite a few trains coming in from the west.

Mookie, chocolate cake?!?!  Hmmm, that's sounds very, very good right now.

For our 'patio brunch', we'll have:  BLTs, tuna salad sandwiches, tater tots,  some cantaloupe chunks and pineapple slices,  and whatever else anyone would like to have.

For supper tonight, got some beef stroganoff in the Crock Pot, and we'll have garden salad and cooked rice to go with the stroganoff.

Desserts to today:  homemade brownies, chocolate cake and strawberry cheese cake.

The guy coming to measure me for the knee brace called earlier, and he'll be here about a half hour or so earlier than planned.  That's fine with me.  Forgot to ask him, though, if I just get measured for the thing today, or get measured and receive the brace today.

Guess that's about all the news I have for now.  Not too much going on around here yet, today.

Cw - little late this morning, but maybe brunch on the patio?

Joe - chocolate cake?  Please e-mail some.

MC - How did you get west - you usually always go east?  We had a big crane tonka toy go right down O street Sunday and I nearly jerked the steering wheel out of Driver's hand to try and follow it.  No clue where he was headed - since viaduct pretty much completed.  Maybe going to stand by the new arena by the old CBQ depot that hasn't been approved yet.

Geometry car moved on.  Need something new to take its place.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Sounds like mudchicken is enjoying the conference, and Mookie is enjoying her new shoes boxes. Wink [;)]

When I awoke at 6:00, we had a temp of 60 degrees, but it has probably dropped a couple of degrees now, since the sun is coming up.  Fall officially starts at 11:44 a.m. ET this morning.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready; and on the warmer bar this morning:  oatmeal, toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.  Along with the prerequisite bagels and bear claws.  Can't forget them, now, can we.

Hey, Mook:  want to join me out in the garden for a cup of coffee??That's where I'll be for the next little bit.

.....A new week with a start of {now}, 62 plus degrees.  Bright sky over in the east.....Sun will soon peek at us.  Looks like a rather warm one for today.

All the RR machinery M C is relating to being in an exhibit hall sounds interesting....including the chrome laden 1958 Pontiac.

Wanted to do something different today, so took a short ride up and down the east side of town - that was about 45 min and then bought me some shoes (Birk Clogs)  That was fun.  Driver told them we needed a pair of shoe boxes and that was it!  Thumbs Up [tup]  Black shoe boxes!

Wonder if Sir Chicken saw the Weiner Race in Cincinnati?  Da Boyz would have loved it.  Real hot dogs!

Off to run up and down the stairs in new shoe boxes.

Chicken currently roosting on the twelfth floor in Salt Lake City not far from the LDS Pidgeon Coop edifice.

Caught a brief glimpse off Matt H this afternoon in the exhibit hall (tan billboard shirt) about 3:30 and then lost him. Attendance here is rumored to be near record. No sign of RWM yet (plenty of others from his outfit) or the others. Dissappointed that the outdoor REMSA show did not happen. Mooks would love to see the tonka toys that got inside along with the other displays. Joe woulda had fun with da sheep-jump frog right inside the door - looks kinda strange, like a flangeway is missing. Two very large rail detectors and several cranes are in here along with a 1958 Pontiac StarChief station wagon with high-rails in CN orange plus a restored A-5 motorcar.

We saw the weinerdog races in Cincy, .....da boyz would have eaten the bunz and scattered in the other three cardinal directions (being the stubborn scottish dogs they are, it would be beneath them to comply with racing rules, and they would investigate other directions)

Chinese was delicious as usual.

I was right!  The parade started just before 1 and went until 2:30.  Saw mostly coal, but also an EMDX engine, a GP60 and some freight of all shapes and sizes.  Had both south tracks tied up at one time and lots headed Joe's way.  Think one of those "regular" coal runs is headed for Alabama.  Need to find someone down there that would know the car marks.

Beautiful afternoon - breezy, but blue and cotton ball sky.  Perfect late summer day - not too warm and low humidity.  Had to come home and do a little home barbering.  4 ears see light again.

Off to paw through the fridge, then Bridezilla on tv tonite....Mischief [:-,]  Those ladies should be totally embarrassed!  And some of the men, too!

The roast, taters & carrots are on the warmer bar.  To go along with that, we have:  shellie beans, corn, cole slaw, and fresh-from-the oven homemade buttermilk biscuits.

Desserts for today:  chocolate cake, apple pie, and peach cobbler; along with several different flavors of ice cream.

Larry, could that detective be one who lives in the lower corner of California?

Mookie, enjoy your Chinese lunch, and hope you find some activity at your local railyard!

The wedding is over - hope everyone survived!

I seriously doubt Dan had such issues, but I've heard of several times over the summer where the police were called in to settle things down after a wedding. Sometimes the hostilities have involved the bride and groom....

BNSF has been suspiciously quiet all nite and this morning.  They must be going to have a whopper of a parade sometime today.

Going out for lunch (Chinese) and then trackside to see if they are napping or if they moved the railyard sometime during the nite.....this could get interesting!

Well good morning. I am up early and will probably take a nap soon.... 63 and foggy in Carolina today and another day W/O lightning being forecast. I guess Dan is hopelessly married now, so all the best to the happy couple. She railfans too apparently, so it's a good matchup. Everybody have a good day

Hi Jay, and welcome back!  As Mookie said, you really do need to drop in and see us more often!!

Coffee, juices, hot water for tea and hot chocolate are all ready for this morning.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, tater tots and scrambled eggs.

If you smell some good aromas from the kitchen, I've got roast, taters and carrots cooking in a couple of Crock Pots for Sunday Dinner.

Enjoy your breakfast, and everyone have a good morning.

Hi Jay!  You really need to drop in more often.

I haven't heard Amtrak lately - maybe they changed their head end and don't have that odd whistle that I always heard before.  So when you do go through (which could be anything from around 5 am to midday, ask the engineer to whistle "Alley Cat"....then I will know it is you!  Mischief [:-,]

Thought maybe it was time to stop by.  Pizza is perfect.  Don't get that now that Matt is off to school.

Heard from family living in the Louisvelle area that they had a four day stint without power.  No other damage reported with them.  Glad to hear that Walt, Paula and Sarah made it through without major problems.  We got maybe 2.5 inches over a day and a half.  NBD.

Haven't been paying all that much attention to the comings and goings, so I missed that Dan was getting hitched today.  Matt is at UW Oskosh with one of our cars that turns out needed some work on the AC.  A few weeks back, Dan was kind enough to refer us to a quality mechanic in Oshkosh and the problem was fixed at a very good price.  I'll keep that in mind next time someone tries to say that friends in cyberspace are not "real"

Heading up north in a couple of weeks to make the reunion of the Merrill High School Class of '58.  Outside of the fact that it will be a party for a bunch of "old people"  it should be a good time.

Next train thing up is a ride to California on the CZ the first week of November.  I'm not excited about that or anything.  I'll tell the engineer to keep the volume down when he highballs out of Lincoln.  Don't want to wake up the cat or the weatherman.

Stay well

....We attended a pipe organ recital last night here in a very old Catholic Church in downtown Muncie.  Church dates to late 1800's and the organ just received it's 2nd or 3rd rebuild and update.

I was thinking of taking a little digital but thought maybe I shouldn't, but others did.  Sorry I didn't.  Beautiful structure inside {and outside too}, and attendance was very good.

A video screen up front {to one side}, showed {live}, the organist as he played {located at the back up on balcony level}.  I wondered what  the 1800 designers would think to see something like that.....

Good Saturday morning, to everyone.  Joe, thank you so much for getting the coffee and juice ready this morning, and for making the cinnamon rolls!  I've also made some coffee cake to have this morning, and there's bacon, eggs and biscuits and gravy and grits for anyone who doesn't feel like having cinnamon rolls this morning (although I'm getting ready to get me a couple of cinnamon rolls).

I finally got hold of my twin's daughter last night.  Their power came back on Monday morning, and everyone is doing o.k.

Randy, just heard on the national weather report (GMA weekend edition), that there is a good possibility of flooding along the Michigan and Kankakee Rivers, along with another river in Ill., that I'm not familiar with the name, and can't even remember the name of right now.  So, please, take care going through there, if that is the route you're taking.

We've got a current temp of 67 this morning in Metro Louisville, with sunny skies.  Supposed to get up to about 84 this afternoon.  Going to be another beautiful day, so the local power company can get the other 70,000(?) people without power back to having power in their homes.

You all have a good day, and Joe, I know you and Matt will enjoy your outing today.
