good point about the borders..  what a waste of space and the space on the server.  w

Don't worry, those empty borders will fill up with advertisements, soon enough.

And the more advertising - the slower the response time.

The ads are up and running. Which makes using the "back" arrow on the browser much less useful for navigating back to where I was in a thread or on the forum. I don't always want to use the links to jump all the way back to page one of Discussion-->General Discussion.
Also, they do increase load times. While that is merely an annoyance for most of us, there are many (myself included) that have slower computers and/or connections. The constant loading of these double click ads can render the forum unusable. Please, please, remember that the whole world isn't connected to HSIA (or can't always afford it).

Here and on Classic Trains, the number of topics/post as demised by 50 to 70%.  No a direct count, use to have a lot more to read every night, some topics very meaty with lots of technical nits and grits.  Since the upgrade, its "where did everyone go?"  There have been two major derailments (coal trains and bridges don't seem to mix) that should have had loads of discussion.  Not a trace.  Is the format keeping people away, sucking the last few brain-cells away in just trying to figure how it works, or has it become more child-like and thus this is no longer has the feel of a place for discussion?

I understand the revised GUI is meant for smaller mobile readers (tablets and smart-phones.) The IPhone is the future.  But, I'll go kicking-n-screaming to view the world though a three inch screen.   Yes, I know about Facebook and tweets, but to someone who manages IT development for a leaving I don't want to to friend the world just to discuss the sound of a cast brass vs steel bell on a GP-35.

Please Moderators, something is broken that is holding the free flow of trainisms, please get it fix before my subscription runs out.  Please.
