BNSF Railway's New Logo.

  • It could easily have been worse...[%-)]
  • They need to bring beac cascade green, drop the santa fe from the name, and put "All hail king Alex" on the sides
  • I hate it. Since I have already ranted on this topic on another forum, I won't comment this time.(Anyway I don't think anyone likes to read someone elses ranting.)
Yes we call it the Dinky. Why? Well cause it's dinky! Proud to be the official train geek of Princeton University!
  • i'm lost here. what scheme? the orange one? that's been their scheme for ages, hasnt it? and which logo? the new nike esque one?

    Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.

There is not "the orange one". There have been(are?) three orange ones. A year ago they dropped the green and went with black. Which is when this thread was started last year. That's easy to miss sometimes when a post comes back from the archives....

    Yes, the underpants "wedgie".

But back to the original question.....
QUOTE: Even though you don't like the new logo,or you do! Will you stil be a BNSF fan? Or will you now go away far from the BNSF forever?

I hated it enough that after the stock holder meeting when they announced it, I went out and sold my stock. Can't make much of a stronger statement than that. But it is more than just the logo, it is what the logo represents. They didn't just adopt a new logo they change the name of the railroad. It used to be Burlington Northern Sante Fe (very heritage) the railroad name is now just BNSF - what in the [censored] will that mean to anyone 20 years from now? Just like CSX, very few people know what it means. Look at history, changing a railroads names to initials is the first symptom of a down hill trend. To me it just shows how little the BNSF executive staff and board of directors know about PR and that they really have zero interest in their Hill and Holliday Heritage. In fact the CB&Q and Santa Fe were more than just a legacy they were legend and Mistique!

But Forever? Don't know. Perhaps someday they will wake up and realize that the silver and red war bonnet sells product, sells services, and says quality. Pumpkins don't sell anything but fairy stories, perhaps the change to black from green is the first realization of this?!?

    .

  • The BNSF name makes it easier to merge with CSX and then break up the mega railroad into new companies operating efficient east-west corridors with no heritage battles hindering the decisions.

  •  No not CSX NS note the way the logo's font is? It means Burlington Norfolk Southern Fe! LOL oh boy I kill me Well seeings it does look like the Nike swoosh Burlington Nike Southern Fe>? Hmmmmm , doesnt matter to me what the logo is as long as the check clears it could be a picture of Matt Roses rear end and I would care less. Well I wouldnt want to see that so maybe I would care. Anyhow it is neat to see UP do the heritage locos, would be nice if we did the same but I doubt it. That would cut into bonus money for the managers.

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train

  • It should be about the Heritage, after all it was supposed to be a BN take over not Santa FE. Bring back the Cascade green and the executive schemes and the SD60mac schemes. And bring Back BN 1, and 2 and 3

i personally like the logo, and im not the fondest of the H1 paint scheme. I have an HO scale H2 Dash-9, so i like the H2 and 3. Arrrrrgggg, the H1 looks sickDead [xx(].

Isn't that the reason why some railfans called it the "Barfbonnet"?
    Duff Long live the AT&SF
  • I have to say the new paint scheme looks the best on the rebuilt GP38-2s and SD70ACes. BN 1, 2, and 3, are all operating at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL, and I have to say they are nice engines. The paint scheme looks better on EMDs then GEs for sure. I wonder what a H3 SD70MAC will look like.

  • I think the new scheme looks great.  It kind of makes for one single railroad instead of two large railroads merged together.
  • The new logo also looks sharp on GP50s and SD40-2s, even though I would much rather see bluebonnet and BN green SD40-2s.

  • The letters, "SF" tell you what the colors should be.  Warbonnet, and ONLY Warbonnet.  It's ONLY the single-most recognized railroad logo in the world.
