You have to give respect in order to get respect. Coming onto this forum with modelers that have more years of experience in the hobby than you have years of life and shooting your mouth off is no way to earn respect. No one is asking you to leave or quit the hobby. We just want you to try and act your age, show some respect to the other members and remember to always be honest. A man's word is his bond; if people discover they can't believe a word you say, you'll lead a very lonely, hard life.

Quitting the hobby just shows how weak you are. Take 8500HPGASTURBINE for instance. He lost his kid and said he would quit. Well guess what, he is having a harder time than you and you quit just like that. He hasn't. He keeps going because it leaves good memories when he use to play with his son. If you quit your life is going to be a living hell (please pardon) Quitting is noway out of things. Your life goes nowhere. And if you think you are the first person to be teased at school, you are oh so wrong buddy!! Don't you think that we and other people on this forum were teased. You really need to pull your head out of your rear end. If you want respect, give it don't take it. Give and you will be given.

And sometimes you won't get it - that's the way the real world is. But being belligerent and insulting and starting flame wars online is a good way to insure you never will. I don't know what's going on at school, but if this is how you treat other kids how do you expect them to react? I think you're overreacting to some of the banter here on the forum, and taking it far too seriously.

Are you able to talk to your parents about the problems at school if you're being bullied, and the way you feel about life in general? You sound extremely depressed and angry, so where are Mom & Dad?

Yes sir, you are most correct. I am 18 and I respect him, not just because he likes the milwaukee road, but because he's honest and cares about how he goes about doing things and saying shut up is not one on his list. Now you really need to grow up.

A reason... Let me think about that... No we DON"T need to give you a reason. You reason with your own mind. Your reasoning is very pathetic at the moment and you are going nowhere fast. As said you will be in a world of hurt. Plus if you really have quit, why haven't you left this yet? hmmm.

UPChuck,

Let me tell you something.  I used to play your game when I was in junior and senior high school but with a slight variation.  Instead of being verbal to get people to feel sorry for me, I used to put on a pouty face Sad [:(] to gain people's attention.

Sometimes the ploy worked, most of the time it didn't.  I found that it was A LOT of work that gained little ground with friends and people and, mostly, tried their patience.  The "I'm leaving and it's all your fault" act is just another way to "manipulate" others to feel sorry for you and to get them to do what YOU want them to do.

As others have already reminded you, respect must be given to others, as well as earned.  You started off here on the forum on a fairly rough note.  I don't need to remind you what your past errs were but you and a number of others here know.  You made some good strides the past 2-3 weeks.  Don't blow it now.  You'll find that life just gets harder and harder and some folks won't be as patient as we have here.

UPChuck, it's your choice to walk away.  The doors open for you to leave, but it's also open for you to return.  However, you need to ask yourself some hard questions as to why the kids at school treat you the way they do.

And, I may sound like I'm being insensitive to your plight.  I'm not.  You're not an adult yet, but...in a few short years you WILL be.  It's time to start growing up and become a responsible young man.  That means being a man of your word and treating others properly with respect - whether they deserve it or not.

Giving up is the easiest way out and will only lead you to much sorrow and regret.  I say this not to hurt you but to steer you in the right direction.

Tom

I wish I could say they are mine, but alas. But I have it on here just to show people what  I enjoy as a hobbiest and it's the Milwaukee.Wink [;)]

See UPchuck, this is the kind of stuff you need to hone. Being nice and treating others with respect. I think I have said my share for the night. Talk to later Milwaukeeroad.

Tom- couldn't have put it better myself.Approve [^]

Make the right choice..Model.

My old layout I quit because I wasn't doing good.

These guys that you see in magazines have been doing it for years and modeling takes practice.

I have gotten way better my second go round.

Hmmmmm, looked like plasser\upnut\upchuck was actually trying to act normal.  Guess not!

I said it before, I'll say it again, I sent his postings to several friends and they came here and viewed what he was saying....and they asked several times...''Does the kid have mental problems?'' it's painfully obvious that SOMETHING is going on in his head that's not normal, what set him off?  I've been watching the forum and  NO ONE has said anything derogatory about him in weeks......so why the sudden meltdown??

He obviously thinks he's being picked on and made fun of at school........that might be the reason for the tantrums.....I think we all probably had the same stuff when we were in school [I know I did],  but I don't recall ever going off like this.

I wish I could say I'm surprised he went back to his prior behavior...but after the Bachmann forum episodes and his actions here.....I'm not the least bit surprised.

We can only hope that he will mature and if he has mental issues, that someone will get him help.

Young Master, when I was 13 there was no internet. Any trains were run in front of friends and friends of friends who may never have seen trains before. Any problems with these trains usually resulted in teasing. Sometimes other people reveal their interest in trains and bring thiers to run. At that time in my life, I only had two anywhere near my age who showed interest in running trains. Cheap train set stuff too.

Today, there is the internet. When you type here or anywhere, you are literally broadcasting to the world and stamping your words forever. As long there is a internet in a free land 10 years, 50 years or 500 years your words stand.

Today society is a little bit more "Fast and loose" than my generation was and even my father's time. Each generation grew up with thier own issues and challenges of the time. Your generation is possibly the first time that young folks can get on line and communicate and learn or teach others. This probably never has been done before.

Now. If you take a few days break and come here and say that you feel badly for behaving or otherwise breaking forum rules on language and perhaps suffering problems with me or other forum members then take a break but dont quit.

If I saw another trucker on the highway, that trucker and I understand each other. I can run with him or her as hard as they can stand and as long they dont quit we get it done.

But here. We have a great age difference. It makes a little bit more difficult to understand how to be more careful or perhaps more gentle in communciation. 13 years of old is a great age. But the next 10 years of your life is going to be either awesome (It should be) or hell. There is no one here that can help you with that.

Now regarding trains. Put them away, take a break from the computer, get outside with your friends and participate in games etc. you will find that the down time is a chance to heal and feel better and perhaps stronger for the next problem.

To write these types of challenge threads is going to get you very wet. You dont want to obey a call of nature in a strong wind and Im sorry, but the internet is like the strongest wind there is and you will get soaked.

These forums have a Moderator, a very wise person who is not afraid to mete out punishment. If I broke a rule I will be sent to punishment. To the moderator I am just another problem that can easily be taught with a warning or tossed out by a ban if I did something bad on these forums. I have been punished before and some of us more than others.

If you want to show strength, do it with patience, peace and understanding. Not by direct conflict or challenges because you might not like the results. You may not care to read any of this stuff that I wrote here but Im sure that somewhere there is a person who likes to run trains and that is what it should be all about.

Playing with trains and having fun, not picking fights you cannot win.
