Wow. Nice vidoes for all of you!!
Here are four short videos from my layout. They certainly don't come close to the Central Indiana and Ohio above! The scenery isn't complete, but I do have sound in my engines.
The Cedar Branch & Western's short tourist train, lead by a GE 70 tonner:

A derailment caught live on film, much to the embarrassment of the CB&W:

A test run at Endor crossing. It's a lift bridge in front of a doorway. Endor = "In door". Get it?

Where did you get those locomotives/sound chips?
MilwaukeeRoad wrote: Where did you get those locomotives/sound chips?
Milwaukee Road,
Are you asking me or someone else further up in the post? If it's me, the GP7 is an Athearn BB with a can motor, Ernst slow speed gears, NWSL wheels and LokSound decoder. The paint job is straight out of a spray can. The roof is done with a black magic marker. I printed my own decals.
The 70 tonner is one of the newer single motor Spectrum models with the original DCC board ripped out. I replaced the old board with a LokSound micro decoder, added new lights, and used small lead shot to add weight. The paint job is Spectrum's original unlettered version which happens to match my other engines. It'll get decals.....some day...
If you weren't asking me, ignore the previous two paragraphs.
Don't worry lol, I was asking you.
Great modifications!

dragen,
now you make me want to go rip out the board in my 70ton and replace it .

Go for it! It can only get better!
loathar wrote:Watching all your sound locos makes me want to spend the extra money for sound. Is anybody using the video function on their digital camera for their videos? I was wondering how the quality would be.
That's what I used to shoot my videos. That's why they are so short.
By the way, seeing every one else's video is spurring me on to complete some more scenery and try again! Great stuff is being posted here!
Here is the video I shot with the Concord 3 mp digital camera a few years ago when the 3895 came to town.
http://s181.photobucket.com/albums/x173/fallsvalleyrr/?action=view¤t=3895MabelvaleFinal.flv
There is no sound, the camera did not have it. The quality was not there either because there was not enough beef in the moving picture size. And finally there was no tripod, I had to use a Fire Hydrant Post Block to steady the thing.
About a year or so later the 844 came along. This time there is no questioning the quality of the video as it came off the DV Hi8 digital tape.
http://s181.photobucket.com/albums/x173/fallsvalleyrr/?action=view¤t=Shorter844EditFinalMabelvale.flv
This particular video has been edited and reedited so much as people wanted shorter and shorter versions. The orginal I think was 7 minutes as we waited on the thing to get moving again after stopping down the track. But after a 3 hour wait and 6 trains for it to arrive, no one was in any particular hurry.
loathar wrote:Safety Valve-WOW! That has one heck of a zoom on it!
The Monument zoom was at least a mile and the target was very BIG. Heck, the metal plate on the side of the thing is higher than a man.
The other zoom im still learning, putting too much on too fast or pulling it out too fast. I definately know the next camera will have optical zoom as the digital does not really cut it. Yes it will cost more but be better.
It's a Sony DVR 460 Camcorder, I must have bought the very last one availible in my state... as a demo for at least half off retail.
Safety Valve- nice video of the Big Boy and 844.
here is one in the parking lot of a local resturant http://s64.photobucket.com/albums/h181/Trainboy13/trains%202/?action=view¤t=MVI_0376.flv
I have no video camera. I did all my videos with my Canon Powershot camera. Look at YouTube or at my video site. I miss the zoom function from a video camera.

I confess to downloading some of the videos and watching them with full attention. You have done a wonderful job.
I was wondering about some of the on-track ones LOL.
These videos are of the layout my Dad and I are building. I've been taking progress videos as I've built it.

Dont bother with the emails from people you dont know or emails you didnt expect.
Dont worry about the computer. There is nothing important on it that you gotta save.
If you did have things you cannot lose on the computer, put them on a seperate hard disk or burn them to DVD or CD. That way if your machine totally fails you will still have your data.
And last.... but not least...
Dont populate this alarmist and mythical trash all over the forums. It is totally unnecessary and without knowing or being ignorant can get alot of people into trouble needlessly.
Finally the address specificed in the letter is rubbish as well:

here is one I made a few days ago. Is the lighting good or too much?
You might want to get the Sound... it's so worth it.

I had to take Medicine for the headache after shooting the F units for a video. It was LOUD. But a good loud. You may not want that sound all the time and can always run em with it off.
