I'm sure most of you have seen pictures of layouts on this forum, but have you seen a video of someone's layout? Well here are all the videos I've made using my digatal camera. Some maybe good, and some might not be as good. All were taken in the same place, but some will be different. Hope you all enjoy them and good luck with your layout.

I like this thread so I want to keep it going. Here's my only good Video. I have 2 more but one is just of my loco with a EMD turbocharged sounds in the back gorund, and the other you can here a gritting noise. Even this one isn't the best, still can see "garbage" in the back gorund. Well here it goes.

I apologize for the darkness, but it is in a tunnel most of the time. I've since added some LEDs to the front of the train. This was taken with a train-cam. I think it was just sitting in a gon with a battery at the time, but I've since mounted it permanently at the front of the subway train.

A valiant first attempt at some videos. Some things you need to work on: 1) Better lighting - beware of where your light source is; take the shade of some table lamps the videos oare just too dark; 2) Be aware of what the camera's depth of field limits are - it looks like you're too close to the subject and everything is out of focus. Instead of putting the camera on the floor, try elevating it a few inches on some books or something. Being on the carpet is messing with the autofocus of the camera possibly.

Thanks for the tips. I'll use them to good use, also were the windows are in my room I can use the morning sun to help with the lighting.

Good videos, practice makes perfect. Ive a few myself but it is only workbench stuff at the moment.. however that is expected to change soon.
Well i took 2 videos of my layout
This video was shot with an HP still camera which doesnt look all that great and its the newiest video

And this video is the oldest and the first time a train ran on the tracks. I however did lace cars around on the sidings to make it look right. This was taken with a Panasonic Digital video. I redid it in Sony Vegas DVD but had to lower the quality to fit it. I was goofing off learning the program.

Thank you about the WC videos it was a couple of months before the CN took over. As for the Algoma Central I picked that up a couple pf years ago from a Hobby Shop in Milwaukee And it wasnt Walthers. It was made by Kato.

Hopefully the files aren't too bog and the upload to photobucket didn't mess up the quality with their compression.
Photobucket maintains the quality, but I usually edit my raw video at the best quality setting on my roxio 7. That way it produces something that is ok. Watching a 15 gig video get broken down into something a few hundred megabyte and then further broken down is amazing.
The short shoots results in a few hundred meg file and that gets further broken down to something that photobucket can handle. I carry a 700 /sec upload but doubt that I get that much while uploading.

It was interesting during the shoot as there were storm warnings for our county near Little Rock that day. Sorry for the buzzing, that is the air conditioning fighting the very hot and humid air outside. This was one of the first videos I put on the net the rest... well... some will never see the net because they are terrible LOL.
The Mike slowed a little because of the twisting 22-23" radius 3.5 something % grade lugging the train down.

No, its static grass applied with a GrassMaster. Seeing it in person is even better.

isnt the Noch Grassmaster the greatiest thing I'm glad I got it sure makes the layout looks different with standing grass than just the flat surface.
The results with the GrassMaster are AMAZING! I just did a scenery demo for the 4-H MRR group on scenery. The kids and the parents were amazed at the results and how simple it was to achieve. I had my 9 year old son helping and doing most of the work. I think last year many of them thought I must have done the scenery on his module. I'm sure they don't any more after seeing him do most of the work during the demo, and the results.

Approx cost of a GrassMaster is $100-115. While that may sound a little steep, if you got a lot of area to cover and want some amazing results, its worth it. I've tried the puffer bottles, ballons, etc and none of them get really good, consistent results like the GM does.
