SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!
Yeah, fill us in, Bud!!!
The current SP&E is for the most part, my level 3 years ago. But has been altered and modernized as time went on. its a creature of patchwork and modification. Still looks pretty good in person though. I feel i can do a little better on some parts of the scenery. Now if I start a new layout with the skills I have now, it should be a killer. Plus the SP&E has many fundamental design issues. This was my first shelf layout. All the mistakes I learned from building this will be corrected when I do it again. More solid benchwork. Wider track radi all around. Not as much track crammed into my relatively small space. More track electricity feeders. Better backdrop. More structures. rr track crossing some form of water. Improved rock work all aound. AND, because I love the area, I want to include a large desertish Cajon type scene.

Here's another picture I like. It's posted in the DIner, too. It's my Texas Special with a Hobbytown PA1 I rebuilt and painted for Katy. My Heartland Division of CB&Q interchanges ith several other roads including Katy.

Some spectacular work demonstrated in this thread. Especially Bob greg, Ken L, mikelhh, Tim Warris, and jon grant.
Heres a few from the SP&E before it gets torn down.
I've got a couple I would like to share.
There are a couple of crews here exchanging shifts. Starting from the left, A milwaukee U30C witha light UP loco behide it sits in wait for another mainline train. The GP38-2 in the middle has a small train and has come in for a crew change beofre heading back the grain elevators. The mainline freight right in the front has a U28B as the head unit with a U25B and a U23B behind it and a long manifest freight. They are also in with the crew change. A crew change for two trains.
A smaller photo but a nice shot. A couple of late night movements around the grain elevator withan SW7 doing the job.
Happy railroading

Lou, the water "surface" is plain ol' green cellophane from my friendly neighborhood Michaels craft store. It's spread out over extruded foam board painted medium-dark gray, to create a murky appearance (this ain't the Bahamas LOL).
The foam board was only there during the photo shoot, 99% of the time it's an open aisle - if you thought the first "waterfall" was too close for comfort, look at this one...

i wish i had some pics to post here, i think i might have to start a new thread when i actually do.
Nice work from everyone - very nice too hard to pic a favourite.
Nice photos everyone
Here's a couple I like. And to keep you motivated, I'm including the "before" shots...
This one was elected photo of the month over at Scale Rails Online. I dubbed in some foreground a little clumsily, but I like the finished effect.
The location of the above shot is just to the right of the peg board with the car cards on the fascia. It took about two years to get from this view to the one above it.

I would like to see your layout when you have scenery on it Mark. I always see you have a pretty big layout?
These are my three favorite. Top is from my new N scale layout and the last two are from my former H0 layout:

Not my favourite by far, but wanted to put something up that hasn't been posted before.
Cheers.
I won't say it's my "best", but it looks okay to me. The photo shows the eastbound Heartland Zephyr making its stop in Prairie View. Looks like ridership has increased since the new Budd cars have been assigned to this train.
Now that I'm home I can peruse my photos. I like these two.

Here you go!
In this scene, a hot northbound intermodal pauses so the crew can get a quick bite to eat at the local diner (across the street from the station in the picture) while an awestruck citizen looks on. You can almost hear the pop-off valve as the air compressor cycle begins on this CSX Dash 8-40CW!
I have enjoyed the many great pictures posted in this thread! You guys got talent!

I dunno if these are my best, but here's a few from my Allegheny & Cumberland in N scale....
