Hmmm, Really don't know, but it looks "southern steamed rail toast' that has also been "tenderized!
It must be Christmas, but here's my complaint...
Both my Toast and Model Toaster mags have been getting here a couple weeks later than usual. I can't stand it! Everyone's talking about the new article on Q-21 resistors or the ergonomic handle on the upgrade of the Phillips AC4400CWatt, and I'm left here trying to google pictures but coming up with the old trash 9 series with DC heater coils!
GAH!

All of this toaster talk is attracting a bad ELEMENT.
Now, this response goes against the WHOLE GRAIN of this thread. We're RAISIN the stakes here...
Modeling the Rio Grande Southern First District circa 1938-1946 in HOn3.
All of these toyish toasters, 2 slice models and toasterovens make me queasy! Why can't I get a nice INEXPENSIVE 4 slot toaster? In the heyday of toast, you could get a nice shiney 4 slot toaster for about 15 bucks. The banks were giving away decent 2 slot models if you opened an account with them.
Now you are forced to have extra wide slots for bagels, designer colors, matching coffee pots and clocks built in. Who needs a clock? You're making toast for heavens sake, it breakfast time! That clock will drive the price of toasters through the roof! If this technotoast trend keeps up, we'll all have to shell out more bread for toast.
Sorry for the rant, I had some dry toast to settle my stomach. I feel much better!

There's, Dave, trying to butter us up again.

I haven't tried the peralbutter trick.. though I did find that on the older models, the screws holding some of the components to the frame sometimes work loose because of the heating elements expanding the metal frame.
I just drilled ou the holes so the 4-40 screws could pass through the frame, and secured them with a nut and washer on the other side. The nut & washer will be hidden by the streamlining shroud when you put the toaster back together.

I'm just not whistling "dixie " here, But I want to propose a "Toast" to all you creative people who have kept this thread alive. You have indeed done a toasty job of it.
This sure did bring out a few people who have been sitting in the back booths and not saying much of late. But it is good to see that you chaps do come alive at times.
Who needs a four slice toaster anyway?? Other than the girls at the "Diner"
Keep up the good laughs.

What do you guys think, I mean, it's my toast and toaster, shouldn't I be able to toast what I want in my toaster?
Are you a serious Toaster or merely a dabbler?
I don't think it's fair to call someone a dabbler because they want wheat toast.
What we need to remember is that some of us just like to toast and really don't give a hoot about the minute details. They are not crumb counters, just toasters.
Those of you who like to attach lables to us aren't grinding your own wheat into flour, or lighting a real wood fire or growing yeast cultures. Before we start attaching lables to others, we need to take a look into the shiney side of the toaster and evaluate how we reflect on the hobby!
It's these crummy attitudes and lables that have let this hobby go stale. It wasn't too long ago that this hobby was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Try spicing up your toast with butter and cinnamon sugar!

Bob,
You're wrong. The true goal of any true toaster is a complete breakfast. Untoasted bread, or even dry toast, may be operationally interesting but should not be considered a "true" breakfast.
Labels are entirely appropriate. Dabblers are anyone not willing to take that step to integrate their toast with a plausible side of OJ and coffee. The more advanced folks will typically include a banana or grapefruit.
So for those of you dabblers, or the collecters for whom toast is an end unto itself, I say you are naught more than toast enthusiasts.
Interesting counter-argument. That's why it's great to have this outlet where we can spread our opinions.
