Evening Gang:
Duke we'ed be plaesed to have you come down. Yea, I'm originally from Milwaukee Wisconsin. Lived my early years on the shores of Lake Michagan. I know about the not running because of dry conditions. We had 2 diesel only meets and several cancelled run days last year.
We went out to John's place today as planned and that was about the last of the plan that worked. I raked the small field and wish I haden't. The windrows were really too big to put together and the hay was real light and fine. I made a real mess out of what I raked. We're going to leave the rest alone and bale as is. The advantage to putting 2 windrows together is the baling goes faster.
Mary Ann and I went out for dinner and I had a pretty good steak. Of course now I'm ready for bed.
Good Night All
***Philip, I thought Jeff's girlfriend was a blonde?
Rob
Ed Thanks and that is good to know, but I would have to admit that it would serve two purposes. It would be a longer ride before it(the bike) would have to be put up because of the white stuff and it would be a chance to meet another one of the fine members of the Diner(CS). Reading your post one more time I think it is Wis or Min.
Inch That is one BIG pot of beans and you know what the means?? Beans,Beans, the more you eat (and I think you know the rest).
Garry Let me be a late comer to congrat you on the photo as I have only looked at the Oct issue once but made sure I found your pic tonight.
Talk to you later

I can vouch for the fact that Paul is a gracious host, and openly accepts Yankees (at least transplanted ones like me). Truth be known, if memory serves me right, Paul himself hails from north of the Mason-Dixon line.
His local club has a great setup only a couple of miles from his place. His own layout (the big one outside) is impressive in its own right.

Awwww, stickin' up for her? Ain't that sweet?
Afternoon all
Paul I have sent an Email to Ryan to let him know that the steam engines won't be running for this meet because of the dry conditions in his part of the country and it has been dry up here in Mich as well. When and if I get to be an ORF in the next couple years I just might have to make plans to go to two meets. The one in Apex and then head down your way if you wouldn't mind a Yankee hanging around for a day or two.
JimGC As long as the rain would stay behind me and wait until the meet is over, that wouldn't be a bad idea .
That's about it
Best to all on sick call and those recovering
Afternoon, Janie - I'll have some fajitas
and a root beer float, please!
Jeff, that's good news on the tests. I'd call the BB Athearn and the P2K about a tie on sound. I also was wondering if that KCS 682 loco is about due for a repaint job. Wonder how hard it'd be to weather one of your locos like that...
Inch, that's a decent pot of beans, there - how long do you cook that many?
Hey Scott, how'd the first day of work go? Cute girlfriend there; I'm with whoever it was who was wondering if she's into railfanning...
Well, congrats to the Red Sox (and the Cubbies) on their division wins. Sorry I missed the party last night, but it looked like Chloe and Zoe got things cleared away before they went home. Place looked pretty neat today (except for some key lime fragments in the corners of the Diner, which I guess got there from one of PC's pie-eating frenzies... ).
Ride 'em safe, Duke! Maybe you can tie a rainstorm onto the back of your bike and drag it down Ryan's way.
I'm planning on some MRR'ing work today - some structure(s) assembling, possibly also some more freight cars to put together, too. Since it's supposed to fairly tolerable out (only about 81 F/27 C right now), I may haul some stuff outside and do a bit of painting on the deck.
Well, got to go for now. I may be back in later in the day. Enjoy your weekend fun!

I'd suggest checking at your local WalMart to see what they have in Kodak digital cameras. I'm not sure how low your camera budget is, but they usually have good prices on Kodak cameras. Most of what is in the stores these days has way more megapixels than you will ever need for general picture taking. 3-5 MP are more than sufficient, and we're now seeing point-and-shoot cameras with between 7 and 12 MP. Most of the Kodak cameras I have seen and used have a macro setting for close up work, and an optical zoom (where the lens moves back and forth).
There are fancier cameras, but Kodak puts out a good product that is easy to use and well suited for general photography. Their software for editing and organizing is also more than adequate.
Good luck on your search,
in a ATSF mug, please & thank you!
Enjoyed the photos posted: from the roundhouse (nice project), to the inviting campground (makes me want to go camping), to the spooky chick (that image will be hard to remove from my brain).
Oct. starts a new resolution: Only 2 days devoted to house & cabin projects from now on. 1 optional day to use as needed. The rest back at the easel fulltime (my real job). Of course the farm/ranch work is a given twice daily, 24/7.
Birthday is in about a week, so I think this is a PERFECT time to buy one of the Kato I've been wanting (SD 90-43MAC or SD80) without catching tooooo much flack from the Mrs. Now to find a UP paint scheme I like at a price I can manage.
Have a great day all. Rob
Mornin, coffee and a couple doughnuts Janie
Weather here is bout the same as PC's so that parts been covered. The cookout went good last night, and we were sure glad they came and when they went home, 16 grandkids was a handful to keep track of, even with moms an dads.
PAUL,,, got the beans on, they'll be ready this afternoon. Don't worry there's plenty for the diner and the campground
GARRY,, it great the Cubbies winning the central, but it's still along way to the big show. I'm with ED, maybe it'll be a Cud-Sox series. That'll make things interesting here in the diner. Now where'd that darn goat get off to, there he is chewing on those red socks.
SCOTT, how'd the first day on the job go? Good looking girl friend too.
RYAN,, the turn table and round house project is coming right along and looks great.
ED,, Mother said thanks for the key lime pie recipe. She's going to make some, when I get her oven going again.
Best get back ta chores, before I get into trouble. Hope ya'll has a gooden n stay safe

Mornin' Folks! I'll have a hot Cup O Joe, and a Blueberry Biscuit a la Bojangles Style! (that means with icing on top!) Oh, and thanks for breakfast Ed!
Picked up another order from Train Buddy after work yesterday. Got some more details for the Roundhouse Renovation Project. Now I'm looking forward to making some more progress.
Thanks guys for all the kudos on the roundhouse progress!
Here is an interior shot of the inspection pit in the roundhouse:
Ed - Key Lime Pie recipe recorded, thanks! And thanks again for the breakfast and lunch today!
Duke - Sounds like a plan! You most likely wont run into any rain as you get closer to NC as none is predicted here for the next two weeks as the drought continues... We are looking forward to seeing you again and have a save ride!
So Garry - how did you get your photo submitted and published in MR? Curious on the lag time between your submission and publication time!
Thoughts and prayers to all in need!
Cheers,
Ryan

Dognabbit, got sucked into responding when I should have been reading. Okay, it's been a while, and it's in celebration of the Red Sox (and Cubs) Divisional Championships. Order up boys.
Actually all the celebration was for the Cubs winning NL Central. But....what does Dick Know?Ed ...... Thanks for KLP recipe. Now, if I could just find a dozen key limes in western KY. Meanwhile, can we assign you the job of providing KLP to the diner?

I'd love to see the Cubs vs the Red Sox in the World Series. Bring on the goat!
I remember limes being very expensive when I grew up in the north. Don't know how it is now. Key limes (called "Colima" down here) are dirt cheap in the markets here. We have about 30 trees. They are all young and the first ones are just starting to produce. If they all get going in another year or two we'll be drowning in limes. I suppose I could get a ventilated boxcar and start shipping limes up with the juice. By the way, the trees have lots of extremely long and sharp thorns. Pruning and picking fruit is an adventure.
Morning all!
Looks like a nice morning out there, but I'm going to stay in and just be lazy for a while. I don't get to do that much.Still running pretty warm around here for this time of year. Weather guesser is calling for 81 degrees, while our normal for this time of year is 73. I guess we get a little longer summer this year. Maybe that will translate to a mild winter?

Speaking of Dick. He's on his countdown for his western Canada trip.
Jeff .... Good to learn you got the green light on med tests.
Ryan ... Thanks for comment on my layout picture in Oct, MR. I really like your turntable progress.
Mark .... I recall PFM advertising sound years and years back. I must still have some old MR's and PFM catologs with the ads in one of my cardboard cartons.

Evening Gang: We went out to John's place and stood by while he cut hay. He got almost finished when he bent a tooh on the swather. He's going to fix it in the morning and we are going to take my Kabota out to pull the rake while he bales. That's the plan anyway.
Jeff great news on the prostate. Nice work on the layout also.
Rob good to hear that you are beginning to relax a bit.
Ed good to hear that Lorenzo was a non-event. Say hello to Fran for us.
Scott enjoy your work and stay safe. Nice lady friend you have there.
Duke our meet is the 3rd weekend in Oct. You guys have fun.
Inch how about a kettle of those beans an ham for us?
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts.
I've got to hit the sack.
Ryan No reminder needed. As for the food, bring it because Sat evening is usually a good feed put on by everyone and I don't think they would mind if you joined in. Bike will be packed Tue evening and heading out Wed morning if it isn't raining. If it is I will sit it out for awhile because I really don't like to start out in the rain but if I get caught during the trip it is different, you put the rain gear on and keep riding.
Hi all. Just popping in for a quick one. I will have 1 cheeseburger and a small coke to go.
JEFF: That is good news about the tests.
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
in a Union Pacific mug, please & thank you!
***Colby, you must post photos of that moss when it's in full growth. Interesting idea. What kind of base will it be growing on?
***Scott, you are in one of those "everything is perfect zones", enjoy every bit of it.
***Ryan, that Safety Yellow nearly blinded me. The wee little people on your layout won't miss that. BTW, nifty track tester car.
Long day here, wiped out, but in a GOOD MOOD anyway. Going to veg infront of the TV tonight (UFC Fight Night). Take care, all.
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
A rather warm and humid day down here in Paradise. Hurricane Lorenzo was a non-event, much like Hurricane Dean. Lots of rain but virtually no wind. Most of it passed during the night between 02:00 and 07:00. Didn't even lose power or the internet connection. That in itself is a minor miracle.
Scott - good luck on the job. Be careful. Enjoy the day off, the dance, and Sarah.
Ryan - I think I need one of those transparent car floors with trucks to check the trackwork on my layout.
Key Lime Pie recipe coming right up. It's incredibly easy. Note that we use those pre-packaged graham cracker pie crusts, but you can sub any graham cracker pie crust recipe if you prefer.

Phil: I guess Ed's going to be picking up oranges this weekend. I saw that storm headed towards you last night on the news and even commented to the wife that you were going to be getting it. Do those things mess with your crops much?
Catch up with you guys later. I'm going to concentrate on the Red Sox vs Twins game. Last weekend of the regular season.
Hasta luego,
Hey all.
Just figured out which decoder should go into the geep. I'm thinking of the Digitrax 163LO, becuase it has built in resistors.
PC: I think I said this, but it's SP Black widow, so it ain't gettin painted.
Garry: Yeah, my grandad was Bob longnecker. Inventor of the sound systems. Hence why I am getting the original prototype.
Looks like I gotta go read my model railroader, Chloe, gimme a coke please.
