Welcome to all the newbi's!

PA, I can't believe you left the key behind for Fergie and them to find!  Don't you know how those boys get?  Man, they'll trash the place right quick!  You gotta watch those guys!  I'll let ya off this time, but don't let it happen again, OK?

Well, about an hour and a half til that hour.  Guess I'll be heading off to bed soon.  Been sitting in front of the fire for a while.  Played a video game with my boy.  He wiped the floor with me, oh well.

Night all!

Good New Year's Morning, Chloe - if you or Zoe get a chance, I'd like a glass of the bubbly (if it hasn't all been drunk up...) And, do you know where there's a spare seat in the place? What a crowd in here. Sheesh! Leave the place for a few hours and it gets overrun - I may have to fight a cat to get a place to sit (think I'd have a better chance getting past that white one that's been drinking the beers, so long as I don't try to take the remote away from him...)

Happy New Year's and 2007 to all! Vinnie, I assume you have taken care of keeping the police away, so long as no major damage occurs? Good. Oh, good to hear that Flip's boxing gloves are keeping him out of trouble (for now...). Evil [}:)]Wink [;)]

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Lynda and Cliff - have a beverage on me, please, and enjoy the Trackside. Lynda, at least you're in the right scale (what some call Horribly Oversized, usually by those modeling in iNvisible scale)Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg])! Do you expect to try to come up with something in the way of an apartment-size layout, or will you work on structures, assembling freight cars & putting Kadees on them, etc. during the week? If you need ideas for your layout design, I'm sure we'll get an abundance of ideas for you in here.

Cliff, what're your layout and MRR'ing plans? Tell us a bit about yourself. Smile [:)] Nosy Inquiring minds want to know, and all that.

Just came back from a church singles New Year's Eve party. Pretty good - lots of games, fun and lots o'snacks. Almost time for me to call it a night, but wanted to stop in the Trackside for a bit. Good thing I did, though - four pages, already? Elliott and David V. will be shaking their heads when they see the place in the morning.. Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]

From what I can see (that isn't blocked by Flip, Fergie and DerJohn dancing on the countertops), the place looks very nice, ladies. Bow [bow] If you need to, you could water down the beer on the troublemakers...(I didn't say that out loud, did I?)

Looks like a great crowd and start for the new year!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Steam Rules, Diesels Drool!

Lynda, Welcome aboard!

Paul, good luck I'm eligible to retire in 8 Months, but to retire at 40 would be a waste so I'm going to pull 4 more years and see what happens.

Soumodeler, I would be interested in pictures of your gravel road and maybe some pointers if you have time.

Trainfreek92, I sent an email to the guy that started the last Coffee Shop; we shall see if he is still around.

Ok well I just got home from work and noticed a ton of posts in the new diner; we might have to replace that rug by the door.  I wish you all good health for 2007.

Hi All.

New place looks good and judging from the pictures of the food I've seen so far the food looks fine!Thumbs Up [tup]Dinner [dinner]

Happy New Year to Everyone! Hope it is a prosperous for everyone.Yeah!! [yeah]

I found a receipt for the styrene sheeting I am using for the backdrops the other day, I bought the first sheet on the 4th July. And I am nearly finished the backdrops (apart from the clouds of course!) Pretty sad that it has taken this long just to make some timber framing and attach the styrene and paint it blue!Banged Head [banghead]

Going to try and blend the second last piece tomorrow, might take some pixs but I have to fly to site at 6 am on the 3rd so might not get a chance to post them.

Oz Jim: My new container terminal has arrived in the country, I just hope it gets delivered tomorrow before I fly out otherwise I have to wait another 10 days before I get back!Tongue [:P] Have you had a chance to start your kit? I'm waiting to see some pix of the progress!Wink [;)]

Glad to see a few familiar faces, I've been pretty quite with going away all the time lately.Sigh [sigh]

Regards,

Nige.

Mornin, coffee and a couple doughnuts girls, see the place in none the worse for ware from last nights party.

Gave up n went yo bed before the end of the game, Bears lost. If they play their first play-off game the same way, no super bowl .

No big plans for the day, working in the train room this morning. Some of the kids are coming out for corned beef n cabagge, and black eyed peas for lunch, we do it every year.

Then out to the shed to do some cleaning in there, so I can start on some wood projects. So far I've got 3 outdoor benchs, a toy box, a Thomas train table, 3 pull trains and 2 trucks to do by summer, glad I've got some heat in there. Best get on with the have too's.

Hope ya'll have a great day, and a better new NEW YEAR

Well here it is 6:35 new years day and I'm at work. Not exactly at work since we don't punch in untill 7 am. The foreman had the coffee on so those who are in today are taking care if the pot.

Mary Ann and I were asleep and about 11pm last night the new neighbors started with the fire works. That scared Daisy the dog and of course woke both of us up. Not a good way to get to introduce yourself. I hope that Mary Ann finds that the cows didn't stampeed. I'd hate to have to leave early to round up cattle.

The place looks nice this morning. I guess that the rough house gang is getting old. Even Vinnie is dozing in the corner.

Today should be slow here. I've got to go around and check things out and turn on what may have been tured off. Then I'll do some more  packing and spend a little time here.

Untill later I'll say so long and Happy New Year.

You know I've been thinking about this one and I feel we should think about calling it "Elliot's Trackside Diner" Just a thought but the credit really does belong to Elliot as he got the ball rolling over two years ago. It has been the longest running thread next to DOS and the ongoing story. James give it some thought please.

Lee, here is a picture of my gravel parking lot. (Ignore the tunnel portal)

First I spread white glue around with a we brush. Then, using a spoon, sprkinled on the gravel, getting it fairly thick in the front. I ran an HO scale car around in it making tire marks and stuff like that. Spray it thoroughly with rubbing alcohol, the cheapest kind you can get. I prefer this over "Wet Water". Then soak the entire area with a 50/50 mix of white glue and water to bond it all together. After about an hour you can work the gravel around A LITTLE but not much, just to smooth out places you don't like. Let it dry and there you have it.

The gravel is #50 screening from a local brick company.

We get the stuff free in all different sizes like ballast and for the main road.

Hope this helps.

Soumodeler, Looks good, What is #50 screening made of? I really like the salt and pepper look of your #50. Plus free is always good, LOL. I use white rain hair spray instead of the rubbing alcohol. I have a Dollar General store walking distance from my house. Its $1 for a bottle and it works great and comes in a pump bottle. You just have to look at the ingredients to make sure alcohol is the first ingredient. The rest of the ingredients help glue and give it the beat down look. Your parking lot looks really good. Lee

I think the screening is used on the face of the bricks to create a rough texture. I first thought it was used on cinder blocks but they don't make thoses there. We are going to get some more soon and I will try and find out then.
