Boston Redsox?  Al's from Connecticut?  I don't know...  Just seems a couple of the posts by this new member have a "bite" to them.

Just my opinion but I don't think it's Al.  I looked at all 5 posts by this new guy and they really don't fit Al's MO.  Plus, he's been a member for 10 days.  Al usually creates a new ID and attacks at the same moment.  And although his reply to Canazar's post was maybe a bit too frank, I agree that the original post was a bit hard to follow.  I just wouldn't have commented on it.

Please don't tell me that Al is a member of Red Sox Nation.  I'm still rejoicing in their Series win.  Don't spoil things for me.

I may be wrong. He also replied to the OP in the "wife" thread pretty bluntly.

Back in on a rainy (Nor’easter coming)evening. (It was afternoon when I started this, but every time I tried to copy a photo frm Photobucket, Netscape decided it wasn’t able to cope, and closed down. Same result…Censored [censored] so, no pics or gifs today I’m afraid, sorry about that.Sigh [sigh]

Root beer floats would be great, Sue.  Jim CG says he has some great frozen Custard in his area. Perhaps it would be good with IBC root beer.

Good evening all,

I will take a slice of apple pie with scoop of vanilla ice cream please.

I was able to get more than 3-4 hours of sleep before coming to work tonight (at least it is the last one) so I can function rationally and string together more than three words in an intelligent manner.

Dave I must agree with you about Al being back coreect MO (I watch CSI) long weekend, slam a few try to get people to respond, cruise weekend photo fun, pick on Jeff when the time is right. Remember to resist the troll.

Paul I have thought about going over to the dark side (N scale) but cant see it happening I can no longer tie the tiny aize 12 flies so why mess with trains I could barely see lol.

Lisa In maine I use verizon for my dsl service some places just outside of town have it and some places dont. A few I have talked to say that Verizon jumps thru the hoops to get to you if you request DSL service. I dont know. Worth asking for.

Garry not a modern diesel fan but those engines look great.

Chuck and Kathy - sorry to hear about your continued medical problems.  But glad to see you had a moment to drop by and update us on the situation.

NM Mike Welcome and enjoyed your layout.

JR how is your loco difficulties coming have you got sound yet?

Take care Kevin

Chloe, did I hear Sue say that Garry was buying root beer floats? Hey, get me one of those, please - Yeah!! [yeah], make me one with some nice frozen custard and the IBC! Thanks, Sue - hey, let Garry buy you one for telling me... Wink [;)]

Garry, that's a sharp pair of SD24's - almost seems a shame to weather them. Maybe you could just do them lightly.

JP, hope you get/got an answer on your Case and CAT question. I may take your question to our MRR club - one or two of the guys are into Caterpillar, Case and such. I gather things are going well with the girlfriend? Smile [:)]

Trent, you didn't fall off the face of the earth (close, but not quite - just the wCensored [censored]k stuff). Sorry to hear your household's dealing with the creeping crud. Also sorry to hear about Kelly's grandmother. Good that your Dad is coming before too long.

Lisa, sounds like you're finding a way to get some 'train time' in for yourself. Crafty woman! Thumbs Up [tup] I'd also say that you are making progress on your layout with that most days approach. Keep up the good w**k!

Went by LHS and Hobby Lobby today (HL had their 40 percent off coupon on their website this week). Got lucky at the LHS (in-town) too - they were running all the HO train stuff at 20 percent off, so I got a P2K 50' boxcar kit and an Accurail 50' boxcar kit. Also asked them to order me couple of new Kalmbach books (the new Planning Scenery, and the new Detailing Diesels ones), and the wife/co-owner (as she's starting to ring my stuff up) asks me if I want to pay for the books then and get the 20 percent off. But I told her I plan to use the 40 percent off coupon (that they gave me last time I was in) on one or both of them. At Hobby Lobby, I picked up some more Woodland Scenics pine trees with the coupon. Smile [:)]

Oh, RT or any other Oversized scale people - I noticed our Hobby Lobby has added O scale items - Walthers built-up structures, Scenemaster figure sets, etc. So if you get their 40 percent off coupon (every othe week, usually), you could add some more stuff for your layout.

Better get back to my root beer float for now. Dinner [dinner]

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Four years ago today I was in Baghdad with the 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment at Camp Muleskinner.

Here's an excerpt from my war journal dated 9 Nov 2003:

"Another helicopter shot down...  36 KIA [killed in action] on our side this week.  Tonight we took mortar fire.  Saw an awesome display of tracers & AAA tonight in celebration of Iraqi soccer team winning over North Korea.  Spoke w/ 484th AEW & CJTF-7, & it looks like I may make it home for Christmas.  That would be great!  I miss Jacob [my son] and Patricia [my wife] very much.  It's good to know I'll be home in less than 2 months, assuming I get out of here...  Now that they're starting to shoot down helicopters, I'm a little worried.  The mortars I guess I can deal with.  ...Bedtime in an hour or so."

Mornin' all!

Gotta fix the car today.  Had a brake line go out on me Friday.  Drove it home from work on just front brakes.  I was going to fix it yesterday but I had too much other stuff to do.  To tell the truth, I'm not really looking forward to it!  At least I can do it in the garage out of the rain!

Today: cloudy, cool with occasional thundershowers - high: 55

Tonight: spotty t-shower possible, mild - low: 52

Well, I have to head to the pharmacy to pick up the wifes meds.

Later!

Good Morning Diner Crew,

Just finished Remembrance Day Services here, and wanted all those Vets to know how much I and my loved ones appreciate your dedicated service to our two countries.

I wish you all a very peaceful and enjoyable day, and to all those who gave all, We do remember you and how sadly we miss your friendship and fellowship. Because of your service we are greatly rewarded and because of your death we are truly in debted and saddened but will never forget you.

If you haven't already done so ,  Take a couple of quiet  minutes and reflect on these Veteren's , both living and dead, and their great sacrifice for the freedoms that we enjoy.

God Bless Canada and God Bless the United States of America.

Good morning ( but bearly(SP?))

Happy Veterans day to all. I'm pretty sure we have a few of those guys in the diner.

I found out some neat stuff. The ORHF is putting on the Holiday Express III out of Oak's Park in Oregon. 4449 will stretch her legs and pull 40 min round trips on the hour for December 7-9th, and December 14-16th. I found out also that there is a train show on the way on the 15th-16th in Ridgefield (I think) WA, so you know what that means?

ROAD TRIP!!!

If my dad complies, I plan to have me, my buddy, and a parent go down to Portland, ride the express, maybe watch it also, and come back up and go to the train show, and then head home. Sounds like a plan to me.

Sue: Are you and Larry going to try and see 4449 in Portland? (If you need info, I can link you)

Well, see y'all later, maybe after the boys are done kickin' some Giant behind,

Mark

Good Afternoon All,

Spent some time at the museum today fixing the laoder and plow truck stopped because I need the ok to buy batteries and we need oil for changes on all the vehicles. Still no luck with the sound on the M1A. I've tried all the suggestions on Tony's and MRC's websites next will be calling BLI direct tomorrow. I may try it in DC if i get ambitious enough to hook up the old transformer and a bit of track. In the mean time I'm doing some more chores between sneaking into the basement to paint more iNpossible buildings. VSCCA is the Vintage Sports Car Club of America - the oldest vintage sports car club in the US at 50 this year.

Slow day today, eh? Hoople your road trip sounds exciting - hope it comes off. The CFO and I are off to Yosemite at the end of the month with a side trip to Sacramento and the Ca. rail museum. Looks like the trains are stopped for the winter except for the Santa train but the museum itself looks plenty interesting.   CUL, J.R.

Evening, Diners (and you, Janie)! I'd like a chili dog

and a root beer, please.

Thanks!

Today was a good Veterans Day/Remembrance Day/Armistice Day outside, once the rain moved away from us and toward Inch, Jerry, Garry and PC. Got into the mid-60's (F) today, though it was a bit cool at first, after the front moved through. Supposed to have some more possible rain tomorrow and maybe Tuesday, depending on how much moisture gets drawn up our way from around Jeff's neck of the wood.

Speaking of Jerry - how's Sallie doing since she got home? Hopefully better once she gets to rest in her own bed and eat home-cooked food.

Mark, that sounds like a good road trip for seeing 4449. How often have you had some of the classic steamers in your area? Seems like it's often, but maybe that's just because we don't get them much down our way.

I'll be chowing down on my chili dog at the corner booth if anyone else comes in, Janie.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good Evening All,

Still doing iNpossible houses trying different shingles, etc. Haven't cut any roof angles differently yet as I'm still on the second farm house (Model Power). Gave up on the MRC NMRA plug decoder I was trying on the M1A and ordered some newer NCEs's from Tony (much prefer these with the silent slow running and the latest feature back EMF which helps overall). Hooked up a DC test track and the sound is as good as my sons' E3A diesel. Once I get it all working on DCC it should be fabulous and then it'll be difficult to put off the Honored Original layout any longer. The town of N might just have to wait a bit.

To my fellow veterans I hope you had a good Veterans Day though truth be told I spend quite a bit more time thinking of my friends who didn't make it out the other side. Back to the paint and assembly w..k.  J.R.

Let's all stop in for root beer floats.  They were such a hit yesterday.

Mark,  The link would be great.  Possibly the 14-16th might work.  I have Christmas Parties both of the other weekends.  Are you going to Puyullap next weekend?  I have been working on my list.

Chuck and Kathy,  Glad to hear from you.  Sorry that your health has not been good.  I hope that things get better.

Garry,  Your locos look great.  Your GN was sure bold in the background.

Are we all grumbling about gas and diesel prices?  It sure sounds like it.

It is always nice to have Lisa back.  She fired me up.  It got some hardshell done on the layout this weekend.  I am trying to work on my stream that the cowboys are bathing in.  It needs to drop enough to make a reason for Larry's trestle.

I work 3 days this week, so I won't be in as much.

Well, I went and did it!

I bought a camera!

I got just way too good of a deal to pass up, and I've been waiting for this one camera to hit the stores, but it keeps getting delayed.

I ended up getting a Canon Powershot S3 IS for $230 brand new.  I also picked up a 2 gig memory card, a nice 3 legged tripod, a nice single legged stand, two new camera cases (a large carry all and a small grab and go), and Roxio Photosuite 10 (editing software).  All in all, about 4 bills.

Now I need to pick up the telephoto and wide angle lenses..........oh, and I need to figure out how to use the thing!

Evening Gang: I went back to the train show with John and our friends Terry and his son Micheal. I picked up copies of the soft cover books on the Hawian railroads during and just after WW2. I also bought 2 G scale Bachman switches. Both left hand for $2.50 each. Can't beat that. They are for John or me depending. Terry was looking at the On30 stuff real close. He may break down. I'd like to do a small gravel mining road in On30. One or two 0-4-0s and some side dump cars. I must be strong and resist the temptation. This evening Mary Ann, John and Dyane and I went out for dinner. The 13th is my birthday so we celebrated early. I had a complimentary dinner at The Keg. Steak and Lobster.

Well it's been a good veterans day. I just wish some of my friends could have been here to enjoy it also. I will always remember them. God Rest There Souls.

Good Night All

***RT, that is an awesome salute!

***Philip, CONGRATS on the new camera. I'll second Sue on that "look forward to seeing those layout pics".

Been doing reasonably well turning some of my vintage N into Christmas shopping funds (to be spent on newer trainsBig Smile [:D]). Need to go pack another one for shipping out tomorrow. No regrets thus far.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Another beautiful (if lazy) day down here in Paradise.  Cool [8D]  Continued on the outside project, and watched quite a bit of football, all squeezed in around a mid-afternoon nap.

Other than that not much to report.  Time to start thinking about trip plans.

Hey there Paul.  You already have big scale stuff out back, and Horribly Oversized in the basement.  Now you're talking about some G scale and maybe a bit of On30 ?!?  And you're still not considering Normal scale??

Bed time.

Hasta mañana,

Ed
