Afternoon All:
Lee: I don't think that the folks at the train shows will be dropping there prices. All that stuff is rare, antique, hard to get, limited run stuff. At least that's what they all say.
Derrick: To Elliots Trackside Diner. I can relate to your MRR situation. I went through that a good many years ago. Keep your priorites as they are and enjoy what time you can get in on the MRR. The more you study now the more time and mony you will have in the furture.
PC: You'er right. They have us figured out for sure. When we go to town she expects to go by at least one LHS. It's no surprise when I want to take a detour for one. She just hopes that the shop is more than just trains.
Well it's getting close to time when I can cross another day off. I went by HR this morning to make sure the paper work was being taken care of. The HR person that started things last year has moved on to finance. I wanted to make sure that the new guy had things in hand.
I'll see you all later. So Long for now
Derrick,

Link above, a Jawn Henry locomotive, in brass and they are "only" a little over $2,000.00. I saw one on eBay but it was in OO scale.

I wish I can, but it has been hard for me. I am not able to spend time on the hobby. You see, I have to go to school[I'm 15 yrs old] , do chores at home, and the rest of the time is taken up on homework. I have not even built a layout yet.

Yea, I was hoping to get a few more months before having to pull out the mower, from the looks of it might be sooner.

Is there a model of one of those terbines? I've been looking for those for a long time.
Sue: I'm doing ok now. Things are regulated for the most part.
Grayfox: I don't have it done yet. I had to go get a new set of jeweler's screwdrivers. My old set must have grown legs and walked off. A correction - it's not a Mikado, it's a Pacific 4-6-2.
I went to the LHS in Alexandria (not so local). I made out like a fat rat! I got 2 Athearn RS3's for $30 and 2 Athearn F7A Super's for $40. That's like half price on all of them.

Good afternoon everyone, we are still breaking records up here temperature -wise, day after day with above average temps for the day. Today it hit 56F at noontime! I checked the NOAA satellite of the North Pole area and there is some cold air starting to move south again ( -27F/-33C ), so I suspect by next Tuesday we will see more seasonable temps around the northern tier states.
Get this guys, it was so nice these last two days that I was out cutting some brush and thinning the woodlands between my house and my two sons over the hill in back, and SAP IS RUNNING in the MAPLE trees!!! Unheard of on January 5th!!! This does not occur until March!!! Trees are actually budding!!!!
JEFF: Sure glad to hear that you are OK in your area, our prayers for those poor families that lost their lives in Louisianna. Do you have that brass gear installed in the Mike yet? Road test with 40 cars ?
RYAN: By the looks of things up here, your trees should be starting to leaf!!! Better get your lawn mowers ready for cutting..LOL
PC: The ladies can always figure us out because we men are sooooo predictable, give it up PC, just tell the truth.
Dang it! She's onto me!
Don't tell my wife, OK?
The trouble with train shows is that we just need more rolling stock. We always find deals that we cannot pass up.

Nope, not a thing! Gotta fix that problem, huh? I see that I have to keep up with the Jones'! Got a train show to go to this weekend and then I teach also, so I'll have to try to squeeze it in.

Our Historic Engines Need Help!!!!!!
In 2004, the MNGRR's Steam Program fell under the jurisdiction of the Federal Railroad Administration. This means all four of our steam locomotives now have to go through a thorough inspection. FRA mandated upgrades must then be completed before a locomotive is allowed to run. At the start of 2004, the MNG used its available funds to put Monson Railroad engine #4 through the FRA process. To this day, number 4 is our only available locomotive. The museum has since set aside funds to put Bridgton and Harrison engine #7 through the same process. Since #7 is much bigger than #4, the cost for rehabilitating engine 7 exceeds what the railroad can currently afford. We estimate it will cost between $25,000 and $30,000 to put #7 back on track. We will not start the restoration work until we have the sufficient funds to complete the project. We need your help! A Maine native, #7 is a 1913 Baldwin built for the Bridgton and Saco River Railroad. Weighing in at 33.5 tons, #7 is a 2-4-4RT type locomotive that hauled passengers and freight in New England for nearly 100 years! After her career in Maine, in 1947, she went to the Edaville Railroad in South Carver Massachusetts as founder Ellis D. Atwood's first engine! She made her return to Maine in 2002. She saw occasional service at the MNG in 2002 and 2003, but has not turned a wheel under steam since. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to put this engine back into service! Checks should be made out to the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. Most importantly, be sure to include a note indicating that the check is for the "Engine 7 Fund." You can also click the donate link on the left, and during the payment process you may specify "Engine 7 Fund" in the memo field. If you have any questions about #7 or our steam program, please contact Mike Moulison at captmike331@aol.com.

Any of you could help out?? I'll get pics of the engine so that you will know what you money in being used for.
Morning Gang:
This is just a quick one to say HI. I'm back at work and feeling pretty good. Almost normal, what ever that is.
I've got an Athern light mike but haven't run it enough to have any problems. If something does go wrong with the gear at least I'll be expecting it.
The scooter should be warmed up enough so I'd better get going.
See you all later.
Jeff, I had two of the Athearn mikes, one ran great for about a month then samething happened the cheap main gear just fell apart, the other mike was bad from day one, drivers where all out of whack send it in, came back 2months later, but after a month same thing the main drive gear broke in half. The gear was made of that cheap nylon plastic. Then like a dummy I pick-up one of the 4-6-2's runs ok but can only pull one combine,up a 2% grade my BWL light mike can pull 16 freight cars up the same grade.
Well last day of vac. I was at grandcrossing at 2:30 this morning there was a east bound just getting ready to pull out from changing crews 6 NS GE's had a huge mixed freight, 108 cars.
Started putting two Walthers backshops kits together for a freind of mind, they have been sitting in the basement now for about 6 months so I thought it was time. He's getting alittle antsy, I told him a could be awhile, i'm doing them for free, if i where being paid i would do them asap. When these are done thats it for other peoples stuff, I have way to much of my own to do.
Have a good day all of you that have to work today, i'll be thinking of you while playing I mean working in the basement. ( tomorrow you can all pick on me, when I have to get up at 3:00am for work and your off.)
Mornin' all!How goes it in your neck of the woods? Not bad here. Can't wait til tomorrow for the train show in Indianapolis. Should be cool!

Grayfox: That was a pretty fair distance off. We were never under a tornado watch or warning here. The storm made like Conrail and split, going to the east and west of us. All we got was a long slow soaking rain.

LEE,
Try this link for train boards, after you join [if ya want], they have a train store for selling or trading.

I've not used it yet for anything, but I do look there every so often.

Paul, we haven't sorted through it yet. Been waiting on a fire/police official to say we can. Don't want to damage any evidence if they are still investigating. And, yep, I got a pretty good size layout room, plus a work room in addition to it. PTL!!!
Chat with ya later,
Trent,
I would like to see pictures of the locomotives if you have any to share.
JR, sorry to hear about your friend, especially sad over the holidays when someone dies.
eBay, yea I was disappointed trying to sell my 2 Conrail GE's. I put them up at 50% of the new price and got nothing and they only had maybe 2 hours of running time on them. I use to be able to sell almost anything on eBay, maybe everyone's wallets are a little tighter these days or someone doesn't like Conrail, LOL.
I just counted 13 buildings that need assembled. Dee Dee (girlfriend) said she would help, we shall see how that goes but something tells me she will want me to remodel her kitchen in return, LOL
Dee Dee has really taken an interest in the trains. She is pushing me to get the mainline up and running because she wants to run a train. I might have to run her out to a model train club or a friend's house so she can give it a try. We had our first serious discussion last weekend: I plan on naming my passenger service for the L. S. & W. "The Dorothy May" and we had a difference of opinion on the script for the rolling stock, LOL.
If anybody wants it I have "Railroad Roman" true type font. Just shoot me an email at lswrr@ameritech.net and I'll send it to you. I got it from http://www.download.com/ as freeware.
It was 50 degrees here today, normal daily high should be about -10 to 35.
