I'll be out of pocket for the next 3 days.  Taking the family camping at Penn State and to see the Penn State/Ohio State game at good ol' Beaver Stadium.

It's like homecoming for the wife and me...  We met at Penn State.

Go Nittany Lions!

My best to all, and prayers for those in need!

Hey, Colby!  I hope you stick with the Air Force...  it's a great life!  I've been in over 11 years now.  I don't have any service-dress uniform pictures on the web, but here's me in my working clothes a few years ago in Baghdad:

I've since been promoted a grade...!

No heroic pictures here - life at sea was 12 hrs a day 7 days a week locked in a little room with the rest of the watch working radios. But no worries - here's my first attempt at one of inches rolling pics one handed in Topeka. Just for the newbie

Just doing a bit more on the layout backround tonight.  CUL,J.R.

Nice to see another JROTC "vet" on this board. I was an Army JROTC cadet all four years of high school (Methuen Rangers lead the way!).

in a ATSF mug, please & thank you!

I like ALL the BNSF photo that have been posted lately. That is a really sharp color scheme, I think anyway. Have been tempted numerous times to pick up a modern diesel in that scheme, even though it is not one I collect.

***Colby, good sound on those clips. Looking forward to the "daytime videos". Wink [;)]

***Dave, as I've said to others here and can never be said too often, "Thanks For Serving". That is a great photo of you in front of the ol' fart.

Stepped on a large rusty nail that was sticking strait up out of an old board this evening, right infront of the old bird house where some still perch at night. Never saw it and stepping down hard it shot right through my shoe. The wife wants to jab me with a needle (for Tetanus). Guess I should let her do so, even though I have grown averse to needles since undergoing all those tests in recent history. Gurrrr!

Hope everyone is doing well. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Evening Gang: I do believe there is a new tractor in the near future. I don't like spending that much but it will be nice not having to feed in the rain with no cab. Of course this means that MRR funds are going to be scarce for a few years.

Colby: Looking good there young man. I did 5 1/2 yrs in Civil Air Patrol and then got smart and went with the Army. My dad was a 1st sargent in WW2 and my great uncle was Army in WW1. Army kind of runs in the family.

Rob: You had better get that looked at. I did that several years ago and ended up with a planters wort. It took a little minor surgery and a couple of weeks on very light duty to get over. Not to mention the pain.

All the hay is now cut. My neighbors field is full of grass burrs. The tires on the tractor were an inch deep in them. I'm not sure if we're going to feed out the hay or dump it someplace. The cows will eat it so? Anyway not that we are again doing our own baling we maybe able to get it cut before the burrs head out and clean them out in a few years.

Well it's time for bed.

Good Night All

I'll have some baked salmon with mashed potatoes & broccoli, please & thanks!

***Paul, burs or not, cows will certainly eat it. Heck, when we come across a moldy bale (which horses must NEVER eat), the cows actually seem to love it. With that wonderful digestive setup, cows are mighty hardy critters!

I've had a couple warts lazered. One of them returned and I've had it for close to 10 years now (sole of the foot). Probably should go see a Podiatrist one of these days and have it hit with the lazer again. Persistent little bastar*, but still low on my list of things to take care of these days.

While on the topic of Cadets, I did a couple of years as an Army Cadet here In Aus. It was great fun! My grandfather was a Sargent in the Army for 10 years, He fought in Vietnam. I also had an uncle serve with the RAAF, but he has since retired.

Hey Dave, that is a great picture of you in Baghdad.  I have a friend in the RAAF based in Darwin, and he is currently on assignment, but it's top secret, he won't say whether he is in Iraq or Afghanistan...

Gotta love that Salmon especially free running and not pond raised. Still Rob you want to get the foot looked at or at least the shot since you really don't know what the board and nail have been lying in, right? And wouldn't it be nice if all we had to worry us were a couple od warts here and there (go ahead and snicker young-uns' you'll see soon enough). Big Smile [:D] J.R.

How's it goin' James? Loved the pics of your progress out in the big room. My Pommy fabricator currently has his BIL over on leave from the English army. He's an MP and has caught duty recently in both Iraq and Afganistan and for that matter Kuwait (remember Kuwait?) as well. Comes with the territory after 18 years in the service.   J.R.

Evenin', folks - just a cup of cocoa for me tonight, Chloe. Thanks, Colby!

Colby, you look good in your uniform - so when can you get some more stripes on that sleeve, anyway? Wink [;)]Thumbs Up [tup]

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Diner, Richard - hey, I know spelling's not everyone's favorite thing. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Good choice, since that includes the former ATSF railroad (right, Rob?)! Smile [:)] Like the others said, what's your layout/plans/dreams like? Modeling (oh, let me take a wild guess here.... ummm...) the BNSF (or just part of it)? Tell us a bit, if you would.

Fergie, you do pretty well with that handheld-and-driving photography stuff. Thumbs Up [tup]

Dave - nice threads in that picture, and Sign - Ditto [#ditto] Rob's comments. Bow [bow]

Ryan, excellent pics of your roundhouse work, and I'm sure getting the fascia mounted feels good. I forgot - did you put the inspection pits in all the roundhouse stalls, or just some of them?

Rob, when my ex (while we were still married) had a planter's wart, her podiatrist finally used some kind of acid paste/patch on it, to eat it away. Hopefully, you won't get a planter's wart and the doctor will head off any infection before anything like that. You are going to go have the Dr. take a look at it, right? Whistling [:-^] Whistling [:-^] Whistling [:-^] Do take care of it.

PC, will be keeping you and your wife in prayer tomorrow morning (and through the day). Angel [angel]Angel [angel]Angel [angel]

I got a good amount of paperwork caught up today (and stayed home to get it done). Took it by and let my supervisor know how much I got done (before it was quitting time there). Hopefully, the small bit I have left to finish up will be all done by tomorrow's quitting time.

Better get myself going so I get to bed sooner than I have some nights this week (have been up past 11, which is later than my usual). See everyone in the morning!

Blessings and prayers,

Good evening, All.  Chloe, I will have some apple pie with a giant scoop of ice cream.

Has anyone done any layout work this week?  I managed to make some Aggro trees.  I will try to plant them tomorrow.  Maybe I will have some photos.

Coffee refill, please & thanks.

***Jim, I've had this one wart on the sole of my foot for almost ten years now and I keep it from spreading (much) with regular use of razors & Wart-off. Not a cure, that's for sure, but keeps it from taking over too much of my foot. Those "freeze kits" did nothing. Only hurts if I step on a pebble while barefoot. Laugh [(-D]

As for seeing a Doctor, my wife can inject the Tetanus shot. Wonder if she gets any pleasure out of sticking her hubby? Shock [:O] Some years ago she stuck me with something that was going to take care of a bad case of poison ivy. Too bad it turned out to be Chicken Pox. Mischief [:-,] Went to a REAL Doctor when my head resembled  Earth's moon. Worst itch ever!

Starting to feel like an old fart sharing health stories here. On to more interesting stuff, trains...

With the small HO layout to build for the wife, I put more of my vintage N scale (excess stuff) up for sale. Need the change to buy a few more HO items for it. (and if there is enough left over, another KATO for ME!Pirate [oX)] hee hee).

And speaking of the wife, she received an invite to come in for an interview for the Flight Nurse job. That was quick! "COOL"  Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Just me again. Here are a couple of progress photos of the industrial area on the layout. The last of the backround factories is started and a couple of the DPM strucures are trial fitted. Feels like not much to show for a summers work but i did run trains a couple of times.

All for now, gotta get some sleep.   Big Smile [:D]J.R.

Good Morning All,

A regular, o.j. and a short stack of bluebery pancakes please Zoe. Loading trailers this morning to deliver tomorrow. It's a bit chilly out but the rain has stopped for now. It's always nice to finish up jobs and see the cars go back.

inch - I don't have your touch on the moving pics, but the shot i did get was while driving solo mid morning. The second one was blocked by a truck on a side road.

Well, lots to do today and I need to get after it. CUL, J.R.
