Good Morning All,

Raining and miserable out so no track work today. I'll have two over medium rye toast and home fries with a regular please and thank you Chloe.

Again with the music since we hooked up my old 6 CD player to the shop stereo. Moby Grape, Electic Flag - just don't hear that on the radio. Also means I can drag out Ray Price and Wailing Jennings when the rest of the crew leave.

PC - Sounds like you and the missus have a full plate the next couple of weeks. Just know we're here for you and you're both in our prayers.

Sue - when do we get to see your take on Aggro trees? Haven't figured out if I want to try them yet or not. And lets have a moment of sympathy for Der with over 400 trees to plant. Maybe he can get Johnny Appleseed out of retirement.

The good news is the Armstrong factory building survived the added glazing and load floor installation and is now back in place awaiting loading docks and roof fittings. Just can't find the photos I took of the real thing in West Haven (now condos).

If I'm to be in the shop Saturday morning I may as well get some w..k done. CUL, J.R.

Good morning everyone.........cloudy, foggy, showers here today, no sun until tomorrow, but we need the rain here also like so many areas of the country. TRAINS and MRR mags arrived yesterday, so this is a perfect day to read and relax. Yesterday I had to cut down a large spruce tree in the front yard, it had gotten too tall and was shading the driveway in winter so much that the ice and snow would not melt, and , it was blocking the solar panels in winter also...tsk, tsk, I love those trees, but not a good idea to have them on the south side of house or driveway up north. It took a good part of the day to knock down that 70 footer and cut it all up and lug away all the branches.

Got the lab results back for annual physical, Cholesterol dropped from 235 to 164, and I am not on lowering drugs, so I am trying to find out what is different in my diet, I had them check to see if they had the wrong person, and they said no, it is "you". So, is it the green tea with ginzing? Or the red wine? Or, all the salmon that I have eating this past 12 months? Even the Triglycerides dropped from 185 to 80 and LDL to 105!! Maybe the mfgrs. of Gatoraide is slipping Lipitor into their mixing tanks.

MIKE: Making up a wiring harness is no fun, but sometimes thta's all you can do. Mine ran OK yesterday after the repair job, the CFO ran the tractor yesterday picking up all the fallen leaves with the trakVac attached to the rear, she even learned how to start that engine and how to empty the Vac in garden area ( now if I can only teach her how to run the rototiller...hehehehehe ).

FERGIE: A heavy mountain now???? Are you trying to corner THIS market now? I have been looking for a heavy mountain for months but there have been NONE, now I know WHY!!!

JEFF: Thanks for breakfast, that stack of pancakes with a side of bacon hit the spot.

COLBY: Very cool in your uniform young man, are you going to go to flight training later? Just think if you did, you could expand your LHS perimeter from the local towns to hundreds of miles!! You could fly down to see Jeff in an hour or buzz over to Sue's ranch in Oregon...D=R*T     3500miles/800 mph (F18) = 4.35 hrs.

Later guys,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! JR,  This is my second batch of Aggro trees, and I think that I like them better.  I made them a little more open.  The ground foam fills in well.  I use T41 to cover the furnace filter, and sprinkle a lighter green on the top.  We are modeling late spring, so I want the new growth to show.

As for planting, I am heading in there now. I was hoping to get some photos with sun shining through the trees.  However, no sun at this time.

As for der, the hard part is making the trees.  The planting should go quite quickly.  I am sure that Johnny wouldn't be much help since he plants seeds. ROTFL

Philip,  I will you patience in caring for your wife during the next 2 weeks.

Sue

BINGO!

It has a nose mounted headlight, something that the low-nose Athearn offering doesn't have.

Coffee in a Southern mug, please & thank you.

***Dick, what kind of solar panels do you have & how do they prodcue for you? We've been looking at a windmill plus solar to more or less get off the grid...just need to make a bunch of $$$$ first.    Interesting about your lowered cholesterol.

***Jerry, nice caboose and good work on the building behind it. (Would love to have a lifesize version of that JD tractor in the background) Wink [;)]

***Jeffrey, are you now going to plug the upper light holes or leave both sets as options?

Have a great day all. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Good Evening All,

Wowser half way down page two. Must mean we're all working on the layouts... oh wait it's saturday night. Well I'm home making Inpossible houses anyway. The shop stuff got done enough for me to leave so i did - post haste. Need to stop in tomorrow and do a bit more after the sealant has dried on the gearbox i'm doing. Right now I'm working on my first scratchbuilt house for the museum display. Wish me luck.

Jerry - nice work - the caboose is great, but I think the building behind is spot on. All that hard work is really paying off.

OK, where is everyone and why is the Diner back on page two? Guess I'll fix my own coffee this evening.

***Jerry, after seeing your transfer caboose and concluding "I will need one", I just picked up 4 caboose including shipping for $10. Will keep the cute one (see bottom caboose in pic below) to use as is or maybe kitbash into something more substancial. Will sell the other three off since they are not needed and I can probably make the $10 back. Big Smile [:D]

Made a hay run today and did water rounds this evening. All is well on the ol' farm. Hope everyone is doing well. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

I think that we all must be working on our layouts.  I decided to put down the underbrush and branches prior to planting trees.

Well, I should go out to feed the calves.

Later,  Sue

Thanks, Rob.

The glue is still wet.  Larry is stuck out on the road this weekend, and by posting the scene, he can help me with hints.  It was hard to get some of the underbrush to stick on the hillside.  The next layer should go down easier.  I knew that it would be tough and I have been dragging my feet.

What did you get done?

Evening Gang: Not much going on today. Mary Ann and I went over and checked the hay. It will bale tomorrow.

Inch: The tractor is a Case-International. We have an International 574 that we bought new 31 years ago and it is still doing great. Of course that was when they were actually made by International. Now they are made by Fiat, as is New Holland.

Mary Ann and I did some ORF thing this afternoon and took a nap. It felt good.

Sue: That hill side looks pretty good. Now you need to add a cat with a logging arch and mabe a dozer working on the road.

PC: Sorry to hear about the delay. You two hang in there.

Jerry: The transfere caboose looks good and I'll second Rob's comment on the building.

Well I think I'll head for bed.

Good Night All.

Evenin', Janie - is Jeff still buying, or has PC reclaimed the TOP honors again? Ah, I see Rob's got the tab. Wink [;)] I'll have a cup of decaf, one of those little steaks, please, and some veggies with it.

Rob, that's a couple of good sized water tanks in your setup there!

Jerry, nice job on the DPM building there and the weathering - as well as on the transfer caboose. Thumbs Up [tup]

Sue, that hillside looks like they've been logging on it already - will you have to put very many trees on it?

I got a late start this morning (fiddlin' around with the computer), and then after laundry ended up taking a while getting an older version of Mac OS installed on one drive (it's needed by a few older games I play every so often). Then went to 5:30 p.m. service (which was awesome), and made some chili after that. Got two more batches - one in the freezer and one in the fridge compartment. Now, we'll see how 'musical' I may or may not be tomorrow morning... Whistling [:-^] Whistling [:-^] Whistling [:-^]

PC, how'd your boy's game go? Hope he got to play some. Yeah!! [yeah]

Supposed to be cooler tonight - in the mid 40's (F), and tomorrow or Monday night we're even supposed to have some frost on the pumpkins.

Oh, wait - wrong kind of pumpkin! Shock [:O] (Luckily, PC is likely in bed by now...) I meant this kind of pumpkin with frost on it!

And the temp's supposed to reach 70 F by Halloween Day. Now, it's predicted to drop back into the mid 40's that night, so the trick-or-treaters had better have a warm costume on! Wink [;)]

Time for me to finish up on my steak and head for my own bedtime.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

RED SOX WON 10-5......I can hear Ed celebrating in Mexico City!!!!!!! One more to go !!!!

ROB: The solar panels were part of a program that our local utility sponsored about 5 years ago. We could purchase the panles for $1200 which is 50% of the total cost, and the installation was free. I have registered about 5000KW from the sun so far, about 250w per panel per day, I have two panels.

The real saver is the 3 solar hot water producing panels that I have on the roof of the house facing south. Those were installed in 1984, and bayback was just 4 years. The entire cost for parts and labor to install was $4400, of which the State and Federal tax credits gave me $2500, so out of pocket was $1900. The Feds still give tax credit for solar and many states do also, check this out online.

I have not had to use my oil fired furnace to produce domestic hot water since last March. Usually it takes 3 to 4 days of bad weather before I run out of 120 gallons of hot water ( just the wife and I now, we had 4 teenagers back in 1984 ).

I am thinking of windmill now as electric rates continue to rise. All you need is an average wind speed of 5mph for the newer more efficient windmills.

Hope this answers your question......and great idea to save water with rain barrels....that is catching on big time up here also.

Mornin,, biscuits n gravy, coffee please Janie

Some of the weather guessers were a talking frost this morning; its 38 now so may have missed it. Looking for a high of 58 and sunny, which will be nice after the rain we've had.

PC,,, what were you doing up at 2 in the morning. To bad bout your son not getting any floor time, but I'm sure he will. Glad he had a good time anyway.

DICK, a friend of ours has one of those tracvac's, sure seems a quick job on leaves. Wish I could afford one. Good deal on the cholesterol too, without a pill.

SUE,, the landscape is looking good, liked the deer hiding there in the woods.

PAUL,, those C-IH are good tractors. My cousin has one, they bale with and like it better than the JD they had.

Got some more time wiring switches yesterday and ran out of wire for the last two. I've got most the bugs worked out on the rest. I'll sure be glad to finish the job, so I can get on to more enjoyable things.

We going over to Girard, [#3 daughters], it'll be our first trip that way, so new area to rail fan, hoping to get some pics along the way.

Best gets round on chores, we're leaving round 10 and it'll be an all day trip [no football today]. Hope ya'll has a gooden, n stay safe.
