Good morning everyone, we have icing taking place here in central Massachusetts, trees and wires are all covered, but the temp is rising, it is 31.8F now and was 31.5F a short time ago, but it is snowing heavily to the north in central VT, NH, & ME. The snow line is supposed to moved back south alte this afternoon and evening.

The wood burner is cranking just in case we lose power, but I also have the generator fueled and ready to go if needed. The wires are heavy with ice.

For you CHARGERS fans.....sorry, but we have to do it, we like to play Indy and the Colts in the big game next week.

Looks like a MRR day today...see you guys at lunch. BTW, anyone seen Fergie lately???

And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

Good afternoon gents, the temp has risen to 32.2F, but the trees are still loaded with ice, no melting taking place.

JEFF: I don't know if this latest cold wave is going to hit you will full force that far south, but by Wednesday night here, it will below 0, and the high temp will only be about 12F. How's the backdrop project coming?

We had yet another train accident here yesterday, a 15 year old boy got off his northbound train and then proceeded to climb over a 3 foot high fence to cross the tracks to get to his mother in the parking lot instead of walking around to the crossing area. An Acela headed south doing track speed ( about 60 there I believe ) struck the boy killing him instantly. Why do people persist in doing unsafe, foolish acts? I can't imagine how the poor mother must have felt seeing that happen.

Here we are on page 2. This is not acceptable gentelmen. KA BUMP.

Well I made it into work. I don't know why. Dedication I guess. It wasn't bad driving. The back roads were totally covered with ice but it was grainee and not slick. The interstate was covered but the traffic had pounded down the driving lanes and most everybody was going slow. There  wasn't alot of traffic and by the time I got on the east side of Ft Worth the roads were wet but in good shape. Of course you had a few that thought they were untouchable. One guy went past me doing at least 60. about 300 yards down the pike he had to slow down fast for the sane folks. The worst thing that happened to me was I ran out of coffee about 10 miles before I got to work.

Nothing going on in the MRR world for me. I haven't even worked on the new mine head frame. Tonight I'll have to put out a bale of hay and feed do I won't feel like going down to the basement. I'll try tomorrow I guess.

18 days to go. See you all later.

Slappy i like the oil one, how true. Also liked your pig in a blanket.

Well 1-15-07 finally had to start the snow blower, 'bout 6in. this has to be a record for wi. by now we should have 2or 3 feet piled up. Sounds like this wouldn't be here to long suppose to warm back-up and push the jet stream way up into Can. again. Lets get those polar ice caps melting, I have been buying land in Missouri, from what all these brainy weather men said i should have ocean front land there, right?

FLIP:: Its working again

........We know about the difference,Thank you; but that si still in the future, not to far off.  I HOPE!!!I HOPE!!!I HOPE!!!

JIM of CG & SUE

Still have 8 in. of SNOW. Roads melt during the day with all the sun that we are getting and 40 degrees then freeze at nite at 21 degrees.....I hate this stuff that is the major reason that when I left the service we came back, none of this white****. Chicago was too white this time of year. also too cold.........

JEFF

Kathy would like to know the color of the paint [ blue ] and the co. that makes it also the ###'s...Thank you..

            ALL

SNOW blew into the MR room and we have a small puddle in the middle of the door and that is linlieolmneiuytr  what ever that is ,the stuff that doesn't get wet. A 4 foot square of entrance that is easy to clean because of the sand that sometimes blows in. The crazy weather guessere are now saying that there is a possibilty of another 2 inches coming tuesday nite.  The beach looks really strange with all that white stuff on it, and makes it even harder to drive on. We saw wreckers coming and going alot yesterday , lots of fools trying tobrive doen on the beach but it sure is pretty.

Prayers to all in need thats all of us.    Chuck and Kathy

Good evening gents, the fog is so thick outside that I poked my eye trying to find my ear!! Now 32.1F, ice all over everything, no wind yet, so the power lines and trees are holding their own so far.

FARGO: You may not see Ocean front property in Missouri in your lifetime, but your grandkids might. However, the New Madrid fault is overdue for a big one, and when it happens............welllllll lets just say I wouldn't want to be lving anywhere near the arches nor the Big Muddy....it changed courses during the last big one in the 1800's.

JEFF: Mon Dieu!!!! It looks like you "are" going to have a one dog night in the Bayous!!

PAUL: PC, almost retirement day....remember though, STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN !!!!!!

DER JOHN: Where is FERGIE?????? What has that lad been up to? His seat has been empty for weeks here.

Dinner [dinner] Ahhh the dinner bell has been rung, see you guys later...

Dick i live about a mile from the big Miss. but theres to many locks and dams to get up here, bout 12.

Inch, should be a great game this weekend, but they can't play around, otherwise New Ol's will roll them over. One plus is Chicago's famous winds ( right by the big lake) and the overall cold. Ever notice that all the places that have the worst weather when playoffs come don't have domes??Whistling [:-^]Greenbay, Chicago.

Heard Saddam's brother really lose his head over getting hung this morning.Whistling [:-^]( I know its wrong to think that way, but they had no problem doing that to our people that they took has hostages. I don't know where does it end. Enough of this I got to go run some trains.

Sorry PC, I meant I sent one to John.  First the hair then my mind.  Still raining here, the swale I built last week is full and diverting water properly down to the street and not in my basment.  The weatherguesser said snow tonight, that's a good thing, I have a new leak in my garage and need time to get up there and fix it.

I should have been a weather man!  It's the only job I can think of where you can be wrong 80% of the time and not get fired.  The river out by me is about 13" over flood and a few streets I hear are impassable, GF is having a hard time getting home from work.

Well I hope things are better for you guys. I hope the power stays on for you Greyfox

Evening gang: Just stopped in to say Good Night. I didn't get to the basement except to drop off a couple drawings that I found while I was cleaning up in the shop at work. I'm throwing out all the stuff that won't mean anything to whoever comes in to take my place.

Not much else to say tonight. I guess I'll head to bed.

Good late evening everyone.......or at least those who have not turned in yet.......just got back from Monday night bmens bowling league, we took 6, barely. Temp shot up to 39 tonight, so all the ice melted off the trees, that was good because we have one big cold wave due here on Wednesday.

SUE: 2 more inches of snow.....wow......and I was in my pool here in the middle of January in New England...tsk, tsk, do you want my snow shovel out there? LOL

JEFF: Nice job Jeff, I guess your hired to paint the inside of the Diner so says Cloe.

Good Monday evening everybody:  The winter storm finally got here this afternoon with steady snow.  Now it’s turned to ice pellets and maybe rain. That tells me, according to the TV weather, that the jet stream is just a little bit north of here.  It’s going to get much colder tomorrow with more snow, they say.  However we could be back to rain by Friday.

JR: Too late for your scribed lines advice, as I’d already painted the concrete.  I’m quite pleased with the way the penciled joint marks look, given that the whole slab is ridiculously clean and fresh!   I got the sea painted today, and the first coat of gloss Mod Podge on to seal it.  I’ll see how the second ocean section looks when the gloss is dry. I’m not totally happy with the colour mixes in I there. I can hide some of the bits I don’t like to an extent because that section is a rough sea, and I have to add the surf yet.  Adding more paint for depth is a thought, thanks.

More “don’t throw anything out without looking for a mrr use”… I mixed up about 5 or so different colours for each section of ocean, acrylic paints in those little containers butter comes in, in fast food restaurants.  Wash them well, as traces of butter linger a bit.

SlappyMike:  That police car reminded me of the article on Discovery Channel’s “Daily Planet” last week.  Lamborghini have donated a 500 HP Gallardo to the Italian police.  That baby does over 300kph, and not much outruns it!  They pulled over a Porche at over 280 kph, the driver was somewhat impressed! Almost makes one want to build an Italian layout just to have a model of that scene!

OZJim:  Sounds like a great re-org of the garage. Congrats on the larger layout space. BTW, what does a sheet of ¾ ply set you back in OZ$s? What size are your plywood sheets?  Although Canada has gone metric, the sheets have stayed about 4’x8’.

Dick:

DER JOHN: Where is FERGIE?????? What has that lad been up to? His seat has been empty for weeks here.
…Don’t know, I could give him a phone call, unless Luc sees this and can fill us in.  We shop at his local supermarket when we are in town, but have yet to run into him there.  Is it possible he’s been called to sea?

Jeff: Thanks again for the backdrop info. That’s going to be worth investigating when that time comes. (I know I “should have” put the backdrop up first, but 1) I didn’t know exactly where the hills would be, and so on, and 2) with a shelf layout, I figure I can retro fit without too much trouble (except in the interchange area, but I have a way to reach over the layout for that part.)

Keep warm and dry gang.  I think I’ve found out why the weather thas been so weird.

all, and God Bless.  Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel [angel]

The sheets are metric, but like you about 4' X 8' I think more like 2390 X 1290 is the measurements now, we also have 1200 X 600/400/300. For 3/4 about $48 a sheet of 4' X 8' for decent quality.

I'm really happy with the larger space i'm getting now, just that extra 5' will make alot of difference!

Mornin, just coffee Zoe, I'll eat when the kids get here later,

Rain finaly ended yesterday mornin, then the temps started dropping. We've got a dusting of snow out now, temp 19, going for a high of 28. Looks like winters showed up for aspell

Thanks for the congrad on the new upcoming grandkid, think it's due in July. Sure hope it's girl we've got enough boys already.

Bears - Saints game should be a good one, but both teams will have play as good or better, than they did last weekend. Don't know if Grossman will be any good. He has problems putting two good half togather at one time, let alone two games.  I look for Indy to beat NE. NE will have to play a lot better or have alot more luck.  I'd sure like to see NE-Bears super bowl.

JERRY, do you know the dates for the Mattoon swap meet. Coryville still last years on it's web page.

JEFF, good job on the back drop, looks good.

GREYFOX, When the big one hits the New Madrid fault, it'll do more damage over a larger area than the ones out west. This area here sits on a layer of silt with water flowing under it. Even a minor one can be felt over a larger area.

LEE, a weather man job you can be wrong most the time and still be advertised as the best around also.

Didn't get as much done on the layout as I wanted, but did get some time on it, to much football. Also got some train pics Sunday before the game I'll post some later. Been moving photo from the old Rail Images page to the new. Their going to shut it down before long, so thats been a big job. Best get ta chores, see ya'll laters maybe

Good Morning All,

Another regular to go please Zoe it'll be a hectic day here. Weather is changing though all we got from the storm yesterday was a lot of rain. It is noticably less humid than Monday to the point where we'll start running the humidifiers at night to avoid that waking up in the desert feeling. Hope those of you in the northwest are enjoying our snow and that it hasn't caused a problem. Just don't like operating a rig in it is all.

Inch - good to see you back on the scene again and yes da Bears and the Pats would be ok though i share your concern over Grossmans troubles putting two good games in a row together.

Jeff - nice tutorial on the backdrop especially as most of us seem to put it off until the rest of the layout is well along and yours covers retro fitting.

Paul - I sympathize with your having to sort through all the accumulated treasures. How many times a day are you saying "so that's where that was" or are you more organized than that ? We now have five storage containers here at work - two semi trailers ,two 40 foot cshipping containers and a 36 foot gooseneck trailer with two levels full of wheels and tires.

Oh well - time for work - also have to figure out #2 sons' broken Jetta. Seems the cooling system is full of congealed oil emulsion but I haven't found the source yet. Hope the block or head isn't cracked but the externals don't look good. CUL, J.R.
