Good morning, All. I will have coffee on the run. The internet is slow on my end, so I am off to work. I will check in tonight.

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Good Moaning! ( ‘Allo ‘Allo is on Vision TV Tuesday nights )
A JR Regular please Chloe, and I think there should be some sliced up banana-bran loaf in the freezer. Spread some butter on one please, and nuke it for 30 seconds. It should be just right.
I’m 8 pages behind, but thanks for all the fine photos, especially Ed and Jeff The sepia ones work very well Jeff.
Sue, thanks for the butterfly bush workshop, it’s just what I need to process this year’s crop of wild Spirea. I’ve been keeping my eye on a number of new-to-me places where the conical ones grow while out on my evening walk.
Jerry, glad Sallie is feeling some better. It must be very frustrating not being able to visit very often. The phone will help a lot.
Kris has a new project afoot. It’s a children’s book, and she needs pictures of cats (preferably the same cat actually) doing specific things. I know this is a long shot, but since we are without Pampas George, we don’t have a starting point handy. So, if anyone has a “poseable” cat (I did say it was a long shot!) here’s what she’s after. Credit of course will be given to the photographer and the cat. The photos will be rendered as B&W line drawings in all probability.
1) Cat looking out of window
2) Cat eating from floor (Sausages in the story)
3) Sitting on table, staring intently.(We have this one )
4) Standing at a person’s feet, looking up.
5) Jumping down from a height (toilet tank in the story).
6) Curled up on floor, looking up.
Any help or suggestion/leads would be most welcome. I’ve looked in Photobucket, but the pics there are thumbnails and so difficult to see much detail; and besides, going through over 190K of them on dial up isn’t quite what I want to do.
Thanks,
TTFN

please and thank you!
***Ed, neat photos. Especailly like the dirty one (4425). Nice weathering job!
***Scott, keep us posted.
Have been off-line a couple days. Don't know why our service went down, but it is nice to be back online.
The wife bought me a loco for $2.50. You guessed it, one of those High Speed SP model. Was thinking it might work to create an old train wreck in a canyon on the future layout. Or, I could do what so many other folks do and toss it in with some other N scale stuff the next time I sell some some off. Seems a tad tall(?), but appears to be a pretty nice looking model "for the price". Suggestions?
Much to do today. Rob
Hey all. I'll have a burger, fries, and a large rootbeer, please.
Well, I started work Monday (Aug. 27). It was easier than I thought. But, I still need a few more days to fell comfortable. I still have this nervous feeling at times. I made $4 in tips, so, it wasn't bad.
Scott, I hope you get that job soon. It's cool that you'll be working with trains.
Talk to y'all later.

1. Use it to practice painting.
2. Use it (after practicing paiting) to practice weathering techniques.
3. Cut shell into parts to use in future kitbashing projects.
Or, if pleasing the wife ranks up there on your list of priorities,
4. Park it somewhere out of traffic in your diesel locomotive servicing area so that it gets a little visibility by DW, but doesn-t interfere with normal locomotive movements. Later, gradually implement plans 1, 2 and 3.
Lunchtime soon!
I think a burrito is in order for today!
Since Railnut is buying, I'll have the tacos.

Hello, everyone. Yes, tacos would be good.
Good to see all the posts. good that Der's back. The children book on cats sounts interesting, der.
Ed, good to see Bill's a railroad veteran. He's not the only one. Soon Scott will be on baord NS.
I really like Ed's action photos of Mexican railroads.
KCS pix are impressive, Jeff.
Jerry, best wishes with the cell phone hook up with Sallie.
Thanks for the scenery tips, Sue. I've used cheap hairspray sometimes, too.
My wife (Shelley) and I continue to travel to the hospital 45 miles away where her sister (Janet) remains on a ventelator in ICU. We were there very early this morning and the news was extremely disappointing. We'll return later today. Shelley has become emotionally drained and I worry for her. Some family members are in from out of town now.
During a brief "sanity break", I worked on a couple of Geeps in my model train room.
Keep up the good model railroading, everyone.

Ready for a second cup of , please and thank you!
***Garry, so sorry for the dissapointing news. Must be very tough for all concerned.
***Ed, my wife wouldn't care what I did with it, so ALL your suggestions are excellent. Still much to decide on for the future layout and what to include and leave out. Want to have it finished (or close to it) in this lifetime so I can enjoy it. Could always cut it in half and stick the ends in RR buildings to give the impression of two locos. Thanks!
Anyone know where I could find UP colors (cans or for air brush) to try painting a couple locos? I've never done that before and have a couple undecorated diesels I would like to turn into UPs. Or, does anyone here paint N scale on the side and if so, what would you charge?
This Friday the MIL moves in. One week later the FIL/stroke victim will be transported via ambulance here. Not looking forward to these changes, but will be as supportive as possible. Just hope I can maintain what is left of my sanity. The only good thing I can see coming from all this is a decent train room...(did I really just say that? shhhhhh!) Just hope the FIL doesn't crash and break his hip or worse here. As the wife says, it's better he has this chance regardless of the outcome, when compared to remaining in a nursing home.
Rob
Ok all....Belly up to the bar, table, counter, wherever you prefer...I'm buying.
That burrito looks good, so does those tacos. I'll have both please with a large pepsi.
And remember all "Carpe burrito"....lol
Catch y'all later.

I changed my mind once I got to Tijuana Flats for my lunch. I ended up getting the Blackened Chicken Ultimate Nachos!
Man! They about had to roll me outta there!
Just spending some time here surfing the net and watching some TV. Murder, she wrote, to be exact. Star Trek: Voyager comes on at three and no way am I missing that.
***Jeffrey, are you a Trek fan, or all things Sci Fi? Falling into the latter camp, I use to build giant dragons (9' on up to 15') and compete in Sci Fi conventions (and collect all the money available on Halloween each year). I've been eyeing one of those old SciFi movie series on eB-y lately, but until I have ALL the RR models I want, however cheap that movie set is, it is down on my list for now. Closest I came to meeting Shatner was seeing his briefcase while photographing soem champion horses in Kentucky a few years back. (No, I didn't search it for a Phaser).
Round #2 for working on more house stuff here. "DING" Rob
I've been doing some ballasting work today.
It's raining here as I type...ICE CREAM on me, Everyone! Powere has popped a couple times, but the internet is still up so far.
***Jeffrey, the autographed picture sounds cool. I have enjoyed the Next Generation series. Certainly a major upgrade in special effects from the original, although I still enjoy those very much, too. My older sisters were "in lust" with James Kirk back then. As for the Voyager series, something about Capt. Janeway's nasal, whiny voice always bothered me a bit. Although the series does have it's own merits. And the Deepspace 9 had the dissadvantage of being stationary, so although I watched then, sometimes they seemed a bit to soap opera like. Just my take on it.
My new (N) Bachmann 2-8-0 arrived early. That was quick! Tried it out, runs fine, think it will require a little break-in period to reach it's potential. As is (out of the box), I can't say that it is as quiet as my MP, Roundhouse and Kato steamers or has any better speed control. Still not bad at all. Will touch it with lube and run it a bit more when I have time and see if it doesn't quiet up a bit. Impressive detailing!
Good evening, Chloe, and I think I'll have one of those tacos and a burrito, please, since LilRob's buying. Thanks!
LilRob, nervous is good - if it helps you learn the ropes for the new job. Should help you toward getting even more tips if you're thinking in terms of pleasing the customers. And should be good in accumulating some possible LHS trip money, on top of savings.
And... "PC - he's not just for pies anymore!" (Would that not count "taco pies"?
Rob (Cederstrand) - next step, you need to train your CFO how to distinguish the locos that you really, really want her to get for you. Start early enough so she has lots of time before your next birthday and Christmas... Good luck with having the FIL and MIL in the house, and should we be praying for his balance and/or your sanity?
DerJohn, sounds like Kris is on a roll - how many books has she written so far? Any new pics of your layout to post?
Jerry, I hope the Cardinals beat Houston tonight (and maybe that the Brewers would beat Chicago...that'd help). It was good to find out they're at the .500 mark now. Good to hear Sallie will be back in communication with you soon. Rest up and take care of your knees, too.
Jeff, you've been a busy guy lately with your layout - the rain is good for MRR'ing, huh? I have several of the ST-Voyager and ST-TNG episodes (probably a few of the DS9, too) on VHS tapes. I enjoyed the original series, but looking back at those shows now, I notice how simple the sets were compared to the more recent ST serieses (?) I never got into Klingon, though. When I was growing up, I recall reading several of the "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" book series. , think I just showed my age there...
Planning on finishing the radio station tower this weekend with the extra day off. I'm going to add a tapering base (kind of tripod-like) to go under the straight (triangular cross section) top/main part of the tower. Maybe assemble some more freight car kits, too - I have some 3-bay hoppers, 2-bay covered hoppers, and a handful of Athearn BB kits (mostly flats) and some P2K tank car kits to pick from. But what I really need to do, is to get back on the wiring leads for the track wiring hookup...
Well, that'll be it for me right now. See everyone tomorrow morning!
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Evening Gang: Good to see you Lil'Rob. Great that you have landed a new job. Good Luck with it.
Mary Ann and I hauled another 20 bales of hay in today. We quit before it go too hot so I'm in better shap tonight.
Rob: Good to hear that it's raining. When things used to get to me at work I'd come home and go out to the pasture. My Paint horse would come over and put his head over my shoulder and just let me lay my head to his neck. I could feel the stress leave. A friend once told me that the out side of a horse is good for the inside of a man. Horse thearapy.
Well I'm ready for a shower and bed.
Good Night All
[Good luck with having the FIL and MIL in the house, and should we be praying for his balance and/or your sanity?]
***Jim, I went crazy long a time ago, so it's too late for me. But sending healing thoughts for the FIL's balance will be most appreciated.
[A friend once told me that the out side of a horse is good for the inside of a man.]
***Paul, that is so true! There isn't a day that goes by I don't get some horse hugs and/or nose nuzzles form one or more horses.
Tomorrow I need to get up early to go get hay. Couldn't today because of the storms. Have a nice evening all. Rob

This could leave you feeling up in the air.

Good Morning, Chloe; I see Zoe's still on her way in. I'll have some TH coffee and one of those chocolate donuts, please.
Oh, and it looks like breakfast is on me. Better get that breakfast buffet ready, I can almost hear the chowhounds' coming...
Woke up early this morning, and finally decided to just go on and get up. When I woke up, I got thinking about some comments my supervisor put on my annual assessment, which I consider inaccurate, and based upon an audit printout that never got checked before she gave it to me (I know that for sure). [grrrr!] Okay, end of rant...
Our weather here should be better today, since the front has moved through (and the high pressure area has shifted west). Somewhat cooler, and some scattered showers possible. 74 F (23 C) currently, and supposed to reach 89 F (32 C) this afternoon.
Well, 'bout time for me to head out. Take care of yourselves.
Good Morning All and a Word of Thanks
Just a word of thanks for prayers and well wishes provided. All is well now as I will start on the road once again. A bit lonelier and a bit empty for awhile but at least I have something to keep me going as the memories of and direction provided from Dad will be with me for years to come.
Garry: I know all too well what you and Shelly are going through so please take care and our prayers are with you.

Good Morning Everyone!
It's a bit foggy out there this morning. Looks like it might cool down a bit over the next few days. That would be fine with me! I'm getting kinda tierd of 95-99 degrees with 85% humidity!
Today: partly sunny, cooler & less humid - high: 83Tonight: mostly clear & cooler - low: 57
Right now:
Prayers have been said for all of those that are hurting and sick. I remember all of you every day in my prayers.......even those that don't ask for it.
Mornin, since Jims buying, I'll have steak n eggs, a short stack n coffee Zoe
Cool an cloudy this morning and only suppose to get into the low 80's, got a little rain last night, not enough to get the ground tacky even.
ROB,, I wish you the best with the in-laws moving in. It can be stressful, but it can be great having them around too. Good to hear your getting some rain, we could sure use some good soakers hear. To late for the corn, but it would help the late beans.
GARRY,, we're keeping you n yours in our thoughts too.
JEFF,, I'm into Star Trek fan also. I have most of Generations, DS-9, Voyager and most of the movies on tapes, along with a few books and some collectables. I'm still working on getting all the original shows collected.
JIM CG and JERRY,, I see the Cards lost last night , but then the Cubs lost too , so your still 2 back .
FERGIE,, our thoughts still be with you n yours. As long as the memories remain, your dad will always be with you and every one he touched.
JERRY, all the kids are in school now, thank God, but I still have KC and J Bird most everyday. My legs bother me if I ride a long time or stand too much. Some times it takes a couple days to get better. Good to hear you'll be able to talk to Sally everyday and I hope she's still doing ok. Any idea on when she's coming home yet??
Before we left Paris after last Sunday's football game. I got a few pics from up there. The field is along side the old NYC tracks and nary a train came by, but I walked up the overpass there and got this one looking west toward the yard.
Left there and went over to the yard, nothing going on there, but did get a pic of some of the old track that went on to Charleston, I'd missed before.
then we found this is an engine at the cereal mill in need of a repaint
Headed on home and saw this UP setting on the north passing track.
I wanted to wait for the east bound to come through, but Mother reminded me we had ice cream thawing. Before I could get back over both trains were gone.
DIL called and she didn't have to work today and now that Leroy's caught the bus, I got no kids, not even after school. My other DIL is getting off early and she getting them. Got plenty to do though, Starting with finish washing the deck, so I can water proof it this weekend. Bears- Browns game suppose to be on NBC, so maybe I'll get a little MRR time in too while it's on.

Good Morning Coffee Clubbers,
We continue to get a goodly amount of rain here, which is great for the orange crop. And, while it's still hot and sticky, at least the clouds screen out the sun a bit and keep the house from heating up so much.
By the way, as I was penning my usual opening line, I wondered to myself how many of the current Coffee Shop patrons (and I still use the old moniker for the thread) recognize where that line comes from. It's been a long, long time since we mentioned it, way back in the earlier days of the Coffee Shop thread, old timers like Paul B and Dick probably remember. But it's a takeoff on the opening line "Good morning Breakfast Clubbers" from the old radio program "Don McNeil's Breakfast Club". Younger participants here won't know about that program, but I used to hear it every weekday morning when I was a young kid.
http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/163.html
Nice to see you dropping back in Lil Rob. Good luck with the new job.
Jeff, looks like something good is going to come out of that WPF thread after all. Seems to be a strong response to Space Mouse's thread. Shouldn't be long before you're taking pictures with a better camera. Good for you.
Garry, we keep hoping for the best with Janet.
Jerry, good idea with the cellphone for keeping in contact with Sallie. Hope she continues to do well.
Bill T, didn't mean to slight you with my comment to Scott. But since you don't often talk about railroading, it's easy to forget what you do for a living.
Didn't get to continue that story yesterday about the railfan trip, so here's the next installment.
I quickly switched over to the other side of the bridge to get a shot of the train starting to pass the campsite. We've packed the tents by now, but the cars are still there.
And it disappears into the tunnel that's only a few hundred yards from our camp. By the way, that's Fran standing there with the red coat on watching the train.
We quickly figured out that climbing up the hillside where you saw that tunnel ought to provide us with some decent views. So we scrambled up. Sure enough, we could see another westbound train winding its way along the other side of the valley. That westbound pulled into the curve that crosses the valley floor, but it was visibly slowing. And it came to a stop. You can see the engines just left of center in the photo. I know they appear small, but I wanted to include enough of the view to give you a good idea of how the valley is laid out. From up here the view of the tracks and trains in the valley makes it almost appear to be a huge N scale setup. It's the first time I've had a view like this looking down at tracks making big loops, like one might do on his layout to increase distance. The track in the foreground looks suspiciously like Kato UniTrack.By this time we already knew why it was stopping, and we all scrambled to get into position to shoot in another direction.
Sure enough, here comes the Eastbound heading downgrade towards the valley. It comes out from the tunnel just beyond us (one of many tunnels on this route) and passes into the tunnel that is bored through the hillside on which we stand. And pops out the other side, heading back into the cut that passes below our camp. You can see a couple of the group positioned near this portal in search of good shots.Back around the curve. And back down the straight stretch. You might have noticed that I haven't tried to identify any of these diseasels that I shot from up high. That's because without seeing an engine number and comparing it to a roster I'm useless at identifying them. They all look the same to me. Well, okay, PA-1's and RS3's don't, but the rest do.
Enough for now.
Regards
Ed
