Off to a good start on the scenery here. I've got the WS foam ready to go and one of my railroad crossings is almost complete. In case you're wondering, I'm using Sheetrock all purpose joint compound. It has to be put on in thin layers, allowing each layer to dry before applying the next layer. It's a lot easier to work with than plaster and can be reworked for up to an hour as it dries.

Good evening, I will have an oriental chicken salad and a pepsi.

I spent the morning in town, and minutes after I turned Pearl out to play.....

Some children need supervision. Tornado Tornado

Dick,  I guess the storm was not too bad because you still have power.

I did get some layout time.  I did a small section of ballast.

Evening All: Well it's been 3 days since I gould get in the diner. Peoplepc would drop off line every time I tried to get in the internet. I talked to Verison and I can get wireless broadband for $60/month. It will cost me $150 for the equipment and the first month. I also get a $50 rebate on that. I have 30 days to try it out and if I don't like it I get a full refund. I can cut our phone service and save about $40/ month so I'm out $20 for the service. I'm going to give it a try and see what happens.

Bobk: Sign - Welcome [#welcome] You have my sympathes. It's good the Mom is there to help out. As the guys and gals have said feel free to drop in and we'll be hear for you.

Colby: Nice going on you studies and being up for mention in Who's Who. If you haven't guessed by my spelling I wasn't the best student in school. Your pictures are very good. The last one of the snow is callender quilty for sure. Would you mind if I made a copy of it?

I'm going to post this before PPC goes out again.

My GP35 came in at the LHS yesterday. I spoke to the owner today. He said Walther's did indeed want full price for it. I had already told him a month or two ago that if they tried that and wouldn't back off on the price that they were going to get it back. They sent it through with a price tag of $60 on it. The LHS owner called them and griped them out about it and they finally relented and backed the price down to $45. That's acceptable. I'll go pick it up on my next trip to Alexandria.

Well, tonight we'll be having the stuffed pepper and squash a-la Syrian style (a family favorite)

Just got back from the club with some nice pics. There were a few of the regulars wacthing some DVDs, Some Chessie stuff wouldn't you know. I rushed my daughter out of the house and didn't have a spare battery. Only got about a dozen pics.  Will try to figure how to post them. Later tonight, we'll go back and stage some more shots.

So her goes-- If we have any trouble I'll post out on the board for help.

Later...

Grayfox: It's already in the mid-70's here, which is cool to us. At the height of the summer the temps usually top 100F but mostly stay around the mid to high 90's with humidity levels that could drown a mosquito in flight. It probably gets a little higher where you are.

JEFF: 70F sounds real nice right now.....I just knew that this would happen when we had exceptionally warm weather from October to February 1st, then the hammer fell.....now I suppose Summer won't begin until July, and we can forget about Spring....ohhh well !!!

MIKE: TWO (2)  Tom cats?? Better get them fixed or they will be howling at the moon and driving you guys crazy.

Chow time, think I'll have some bbq ribs n fries and a barley pop Janie

No kids, so I've been working some on the layout this morning while Mother's gone on an unplanned trip to Springfield with #1 son. Jamie moved since he was there last and don't know his way around up there very well

BOB, glad you have family round it helps alot.

DICK, don't think it  the fault line, it's the fact that the cats would rather go out n dig in the  kids sandbox, than use their litter box. We have 2 tom cats, neither ones fixed YET.

Well lunch was good, thanks Jeff. Need ta get started on some honey-do's, but think I'll get me a nap first

Thanks all, for the comforting words.

Dick: Yes I'm just across Weymouth from the old NAS. Actually I was stationed there toward the end of my service. I flew in SP2H and P3 Orions as an acoustic operator ASW sub chasers.  My club is in Hingham only 5 min from my house.

I am ready to head to the club w/ family for a small run session and photo shoot. My daughter is gathering her D70 and goodies as I write. If I have any trouble with posting pics, I know you guys can walk me through it.

Have a good day, gota run... the trains are waiting- There's a Chessie coal drag staged and ready for departure.

Howdy everybody.

Bob K......  It's good that you are sharing your feelings with your friends so they can care about you.  And of course, being a believer, you will be continue being comforted by the Lord. Nice that "Mom" can be there for you too.  Sounds like you have a good family. I suspect all of the diners will agree that your time with model trains is good for you also. I know I take my "sanity breaks" in the train room during difficult times. Blessings to you and your family.

Inch, Philip, Dick, and so on.........   yes we feel fortunate to win the TV. As I said, we reallly don't spend much time watching TV.  I've already thought of Dick's suggestion train DVD's an I have a bunch of railroad Video cassettes.   .... One problem already is where to put it. It won't fit in the entertainment center. We've got some ideas on that one. I can see it now. I'll take valuable MRR time to hook up the TV.

We missed the first part of the local fund raiser due to attend a church meeting.  They had some good deserts, too.  (Now, you're getting a clue as to why I'm willling to attend church.) The red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting was so outstanding, I made no secrets that I liked it. The pastor gave us some extra pieces to bring home.  Soooooooooooo..................since Ryan's eating all the pie ..........   I get red velvet cake.......... ......  pass the tim Horton's coffee, please.

Happy Model Railroading.

Good morning everyone... today we have the calm before the storm...a BIG storm. I am glad I don't live right on the water, there is going to be some serious flooding and damage, not to mention beach erosion. Right now, it is  a cool 43F, partly cloudy skies, with winds out of the west at 8 mph.

We have been helping our DIL all morning getting ready for a surprise 40th BD for son #2 ( Mike ), the infamous , black ballon, 40th Birthday. Can all you guys remember turning 40???? ( Except all you youngsters of course )

DER JOHN: The heavy rains will hit you by Monday morning at 8am Atlantic Time, no snow, but real heavy rains and high winds. Try to get some photos of the coastline in front of your house, the seas should reach 20 feet with Astrological high tide plus New Moon.

MIKE: If the cat wants out so bad, maybe the New Madrid fault is about to let go, animals sense these things far better than any instruments do. Or, it could be, naaaaaahhh, you had him fixed, right Mike?

GARRY: EXCELLENT !! A 42" Plasma  HDTV!!!! Can you imagine what those RR videos are going to look like on the TV???? Get out a couple of DVD's and check out that picture, you will be amassed !!!!!!!

Bogp40: Ahhhh, a neighbor...well.....not too far away at Weymouth, about 45 miles as the Crow flies. You must be near the former Naval Air Station?

PC: I'm surprised that you could get up this morning after eating pigging-out on all that pie in the Diner, poor RYAN is still in bed...tsk, tsk. What course are you taking?

JEFF: Pretty humid down there today I see, 64F DP!!! No wonder so much moisture is feeding into this big storm that has the weather forecasters all excited. Is the air conditioner ON yet? Normally, we don't have to use ours up here until June.

Well, got to get going, have to go to bakery to pick up the big 40th BD cake, see you guys later...

Well, good morning guys.

Really need that coffee...

Spent most of the morning sorting emails. Things are winding down at the house. Slowly the family is leaving to head home. My mother will be staying to help out for a while. With her great Italian cooking there'll be no need to have any dinner at the diner. So it may be a quick wave as I pass.

I find that the mornings are the hardest, They were always a special time, even spending a few minutes quality time with my wife April.

I'm still not back to work yet. I really knew weeks ago that something was up with my wife's condition. I postponed future work and spent all my time with her. I thank God I did so, no regrets at all. There will be plenty of time to scramble to put those kitchens and reordering back into a schedule.

A good friend of mine want me to help him to do some installs and finish work in Cambridge on some condos. He knows I'm not ready to jump back into my normal contract work. This way I can just show up and do the work almost out of habit with no real worries. If I'm not up to the task, just leave and they can pick up the slack.

Great freinds and support are everywhere. It's times like these that bring out the best in people, and your true friends really shine.

So, what's up for today.... I have the entire day and trains are going to be a good part of it.

My mother has never seen the progress at the club and wants to see the layout. My daughter has always wanted to stage photo shots to photoshop the layout and my equipment. She's a photo/art major @ Northeastern U, so we'll see if I can get some nice shots to show you.

What have you guys planned for this weekend?

I'm ready for another cup and maybe a danish.

Gotta head to school this morning.  Really not in the mood.  I'd rather sleep in, but oh well.  It's good for me!

Gerry, $10 for a 42" TV.....not bad!  Congrats!  It's fun to just "win" sometimes, huh?

Mornin, an irish coffee please Janie

Been rainin here most the night I think, radar showing PC gettin it too. So far no snow but the days far from over. Oh well, maybe I can get in some play time between honey-do's n kids.

DICK, some of the farmers are going to be hurtin, but most the fruit farmers have other sources of income, If the weather would turn around, there may be a small crop. The veggie crops can all be replanted that were damaged, it was way early anyway.

GARRY, congrads on winning the TV, that was a good deal for ten bucks.

One of our darn cats keeps going to the door hollerin to go out, then when he see's it's rainin turns n runs off. One more time n he's going out like it or not. Hope ya'll has a good day, stay dry

It's really late here, but I've got some news.  We attended a local fund raiser for charities this evening. They auctioned off all kinds of stuff and had a few raffles.

Shelley and I paid $10.00 for 3 raffle tickets for a Panasonic 42" Plasma Flat Screen HDTV.

Guess what?

We Won the TV!

Neither of us is much of a TV fan.  However, it's kinda neat to win!

I have only had a digital camera since September.  I posted a thread and asked for help with choosing it.  Once I made that decision, someone suggested photobucket.  Move the photos that you want to post to photobucket, and then use the how to post photos at the top of the threads.  I have found if the photo does not post, it can be as simple as missing one letter.  We will look forward to your photos.

Sue

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.

We are all about fun here.  What are you modeling?

Sue

I model the B&O through Chessie. No specific time period and mostly diesel. Love to throw in C&O, WM, some L&N, Pere Marquette and B&LE. My favorites are B&O F3s and 7s, Chessie any EMD GP38, 40s and SD35 and 40s. Then along came CSX and wrecked the RR.

I'm in the South Shore Model RR Club in Hingham, Ma (same one as Paul3). Been enjoying this hobby for over 20 years, no home layout- no real need- as the massive club one does take up most of my layout building time. I don't touch any benchwork when I go there, as a finish carpenter for 35 years, the last thing I want to do when at the club is the same thing I have been doing all day. I love building scenery, structures, bridges, abutments reataining walls ect.

I have been wanting to post pics of some recent scenery but need some PC savy help at my end. It's great how some of you whip up these pics, especially that great menu. Think I'm getting hungry now. What's good here anyway?
