***Jeffrey, the engine looks great. Pardon my short memory, but what kind of red & grey paint did you use again and did you coat them with a finish/sealer? BTW, hope you can find improvement with those health issues.
***Colby, checked out that site and it sounds like a neat deal. But for the same $$$ it would be hard not to purchase the Atlas & Kato locos on my wish list. Tough call!
***Duke, that photo of the Berkshire with the dome car & the side view photo sure give a good impression of it's size. Very cool!
Spent most of the day in bed with the back problem. Very frustrating when it acts up, but in time it always returns to usable condition. For the present there is not a darn thing I can do about it. Had some much needed rain this evening, so that's something good to report on.
Rob
Good Evening All,
I'll have a coffee and just mosey on to the back booth for a bit. Got home shut my eyes for a second and boom an hour went by. Missed my museum meeting but did spend some time working on my Horribly Oversized DPM buildings. Jerry was right on they look much better with some paint, window glazing and curtains. I'm going for that downtown Bridgeport look with most of the buildings having narrow alleyways between them instead of the "side by each" big city way. Behind the two and three story buildings I'll have another row of taller buildings and warehouses then in the back are the big factories and next to them will be some oil tanks and if I get really ambitious a coal company. On the other side of the elevated tracks is the great abyss or table edge and further up is the river/shallows which is just roughed in for now. The good news is the track all works so long as I run the curved joins of the swing bridge at low speed. I spent about an hour running my switchers back and forth just to keep any temptaion from the (really tiny) Dark side away.
Rob - i sympathize with your back troubles - occupational hazard for me but when it gets too bad the chiropractor works wonders. Back to the drying paint tough to find a lot of different tints for brick that look realistic, but I'm trying. CUL,J.R.

Evening Gang: Not much since this afternoon. Right now I'm tired and getting ready for bed. Seems that I do that alot. I did get one of the drive shafts is a go so I'll put it on tomorrow. The fields are all wet again so I don't know when we'll be able to mow the weeds and get the hay cut and baled. I won't be able to do any trimming on the UP ether. HUM sounds like I should go to the basement and do some MRRing. Tomorrow is a MRRing day .
Here I am again at the top. Sorry PC.
Well I'll say Good Night All

If it's a Canon powershot A400 (it's my mom's), I can help. the funny is my mom is still firguing out the smaller details ie. deleting photos, she had to take a class to learn how to work it. Me.. I ask witch button you press to take the pic. Mostly I'm self taught.

Born in NeyJersey, grew up in AZ (note: never actually grew up...just got older), lived a dozen years in WA, then settled here in GA (with a woman I met in England). Still have many relatives & friends all along the west coast from CA to WA. I do like the deep south for it's interesting weather and abundant sunshine...no comment on the locals!

Good Morning All,
A regular and a donut please Zoe. Nice morning again a bit of overcast but not too humid. Rain is predicted for later or tomorrow but who knows. Paul is hogging all the rain we were supposed to get last week. Bet he'd like to send some this way now.
Colby - 4,000 people for a one time, first time event is phenominal. We didn't get but around that for our Little Engine That Could event and it was the second year and ran two weekends. One continuing issue we have here in Danbury is we are restricted to the tracks in our yard as Metro North has the place surrounded and runs commuter trains 18 hours a day 7 days a week.We still want access to the other adjacent tracks which the Housatonic leases, but that hasn't happened either. The Housatonic track is the old Berkshire division of the New Haven and includes trackage rights on the Maybrook line as well which would make a wonderful senic trip on the hilliest part of the old New Haven Railroad.
Welcome back Adam - Krump, Adam, and lil Rob all in one week. Next I expect Ed back, no?
Speaking of back it's time to get back to it here in the shop. Hope you all have a goodun' today. CUL,J.R.
Good morning folks!
How about a big bowl of cheese grits with some melted butter? Thanks Zoë!
Duke, another great set of steam action photos! Thanks for the offer of the room; I'll keep that thought in my back pocket for future reference.
JP, what are you doing in Knoxville? If you are driving back, you are only about a 60 minute drive from the Smoky Mountain National Park, a must see destination.
Catch you all later for lunch!

Morning, Zoe - just a go cup and one of Bill T's donuts, please. Thanks.
Good to see some ol' familiar faces have been through - back, Krump, Adam, and... (I'm sure I'm forgetting another one or two, so my apologies for the lousy memory). JP, you're not wild about our humidity in the mid-country?
Bit of good news - yesterday at work, I found out I was nominated for (and got) the Employee of the Month award. No, I don't get a special parking spot. Got a plaque I can put up in my office, and a $25 gift card for Target (plus a nice letter). Now, if Target only carried MRR'ing stuff...!
Well, got to run - see everyone later tonight!
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Hey Adam, how's it going?
Morning all!
How goes it? Busy here! We had storms last night, so it's busy around the phone company this morning!
Well, while the storms were going on last night I decided to play with my camera. One of my loco's is about to get a major overhaul. It's scheduled for some shop time to get new paint and some detailing work done, but before it does........

It's not a bad starting point. It's the newer Bmann 4-8-4 Northern. It runs real nice, but the looks leave a little to be desired, ya know?
Well, it looks like more rain around here today and things are already crazy, so I'd best be off!
Later!

GMTRacing wrote: Welcome back Adam - Krump, Adam, and lil Rob all in one week. Next I expect Ed back, no?
How about hearin' from that Scott kid? He ain't been around here for a bit either.
Hey y'all!
It's been a while. Adam mentioned the Coffee Shop to me last night on AIM, and I thought while I was on trains.com posting a questions about a recruitment session with NS on the Trains Forums, I would stop in here and see how everyone was doing and update y'all.
Yeah...A recruitment session with NS. I've been invited to one in about a week. I'm trying to get a job with the railroad. Either NS or Amtrak, both are looking possible right now. And before y'all go on with anything, I know the hard-work and safety issues these jobs bring about. I know what I'm getting myself into, but it's something that I've always wanted to try. I'm trying to get a job with the railroad to WORK not to railfan.
Other than that...We've moved again. I'm now in Westminster, Maryland. We moved in with Mom's boyfriend of almost a year now. He sold his house, we're trying to sell our Sykesville house, and we bought a BIG house for the six of us to live in. Surrounded by farm land away from, but not far from, the city of Westminster. I like it out here, suits me just fine...Just no space for a model railroad yet...
And now I'm trying to get Project Steasel on the rails again after a mightly long hiatus.
I'll catch y'all later.
Scott - Dispatcher, Norfolk Southern

Welcome back Scott. Nice to see you here.
Hi Scott! How've you been? Busy moving it sounds like.
Cox 47 wrote: PC....How about some photos of engine when you get it done?
Will do!
Hi, all. Wow, Krump, Lilrob, Adam, and Scott, looks like homecoming in the CS. Welcome back guys. Since I haven't been in in a couple weeks I thought I would stop and say hi. It's lunch time here at BDD.
Not much railroading done lately. I do fiddle with some little things from time to time but my budget is just getting back on an even keel from some rather large necessary expenses. Plus, like Scott, I've been spending a lot of time with the girlfriend. When I am home I have to take care of house w**k, like laundry, cleaning, and all that good stuff. At least I haven't had to mow grass for a few weeks, not enough rain.
Duke, like the pics of the berk, wish we had some big steam running around here. EBT and Strasburg are nice but not that big.
Stay well, or get well if you're not. See you later.
To Go, Please & thank you! (if I sit down right now, it's painful to stand back up)
***Jim, CONGRATS on Employee Of The Month. You must be doing something right, or kissing the right backsides...
***Scott, best of luck in your persuit of a job with NS or Amtrak. What type of job are you looking to do?
***Philip, what all are you going to do to that 4-8-4 Northern? Will look forward to before and after photos of it.
Well, wish I could take a day off but the critters need their brunch. Rob
Yahoo! Rob's buying! I'll have the steak and fish.
Cederstrand wrote: ***Philip, what all are you going to do to that 4-8-4 Northern? Will look forward to before and after photos of it.
Well, she needs an eastern paint job for starters. She needs to wear the proper paint for the Northern Atlantic Railroad. Also, she needs to have her drawbar shortened and some of her molded on details sanded off and replaced with higher quality stand alone details. The mechanism is a new tool (as is the tender), but the shell is the same one they've been pumping out since the 70's, so it's a bit long in the tooth. After that, a coal load, some weathering, a decoder install, and then it's time to put her to work!
PC: Yeah, I've been pretty busy moving. That and still doing work on the house in Sykesville to try to sell it. Just recently painted the basement floor (3-day process)...That was kinda frustrating...But other than that, I've been great. And it's glad to know that the new Bachmann Northerns run well, 'cause I've got one comin' my way to repower the Steasel.
Rob: Well, eventually, I'd like to be an engineer. With NS I'll start as a conductor; with Amtrak I'll start as a station employee. I'd be an engineer sooner with NS; but I'm not sure which one I'll choose just yet.
Evening all
back to all of the old faces
Colby The camera is a Minolta and I just need to spend the time playing with it to figure it out,but thanks for the offer.

Attaboy Too bad Strasburg couldn't get enough money to fix the Berk they have out in the yard, but I am afraid it is too far gone.
that photo of the Berkshire with the dome car & the side view photo sure give a good impression of it's size.
Ok here is the next installment
That's about it

Evening, Chloe - I'll have some cheesy fries,
cup of coffee, and I may have some strawberries over ice cream, if there're any left.
Or would a special summer strawberry cake be good?
Oh, heck, I think I'll have mine with the ice cream, Chloe, but let the rest of the crew have some of the cake, if they like it. Thanks!
Scott, Adam, Attaboy, good to see all of you back in here. And of course, we remember you!
Now, Scott - have you started checking out any available space in the basement, attic, etc. for MRR use? Painting the floor in the old house, huh? What fun, I'm sure! How's your car - still running good? Best wishes with landing a RR job, whether you go with Amtrak or NS!
Cox 47 wrote: Jim....Congrats on being employee of the month! Time to ask for a raise....
Jerry, I actually got the raise first - this is a bonus on top of the raise.
Cederstrand wrote: ***Jim, CONGRATS on Employee Of The Month. You must be doing something right, or kissing the right backsides...
Trust me Rob, I'm not great at kissing backsides. Hmmm... maybe that's why I didn't get EOM back in December?
Thanks to all for the congrats on my EOM.
Duke, great photos of the Berkshire - that is an awesome machine, and I'm sure it's even more inspiring in the flesh - err, metal.
I'm going to sit down and watch my first (vol. 2 for everyone else) volume of the D-P-B DVD tonight. So I'll put some popcorn in the microwave and get a drink and enjoy. See everyone later and hope you all have a little fun and MRR'ing to have in your weekend. (Hey, it's almost Friday...)
Congrats, Jim. You say that you got plaque? Dental hygiene humor.
bj, Keep the photos coming.
