Evenin'!
I'll just have a coke...
Sue: That stinks. Just a bit away (7 blocks) I have my LHS. Its actually two in one, American Eagles Hobbies (Everything except trains) and North End Trains, which is in the basement. Theres lots of stuff down there, at least a hundred engines, they have lots of brass, woodland scenics, lots of details, tons of rolling stock, and lots of different brands of track. Definatly a good shop. Oh BTW, yeah today it wasn't very nice weather, cloudy, 60* F, not like yesterday... 80*F to 90*F... I can't stand that.
Still saving up, $15 closer to the big boy...

Good Morning All,
Another nice morning, moderate temps and a bit of a breeze. I'll have a cup of Lucs' coffee cream no sugar, and one of Bills donuts please. Thanks guys.
Still putting the DPM buildings together but I'm not crazy about the windows. The frames seem too thick and shaving them with the x-Acto knife doesn't do it for me. For now it's dark colors and hope for the best. I have a half dozen kits to do and they are well on the way to becoming backround buildings unless I get ambitious and do a bunch of bashing. Live and learn I guess.
Hope everyone else has a sparkling day. Time to pick up tools and get on with it. An aside from last weekend, the stupid fuel pump now seems to work perfectly on the Lotus 18. Guess it really just wasn't my weekend. CUL, J.R.
Good morning.
Just a quick weather post before I hit the shower.Today High: 88 Mostly cloudy. Chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s. Light and variable winds becoming south around 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation 70 percent. Tonight Low: 72 Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 70s. Light and variable winds. No breakfast for me this morning. I'm going in for a ct scan this morning.

Not much going on here. It raining. It is apt to rain off and on all week. Oh well, better get ready for work.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Morning All!
All kinds of rain here, but it's OK. We needed it!
What's going on with all of you?
Gerry, let me ask you something. This is leading somewhere, so run with me a second, OK?
Have you ever had one of those moments when the clouds just opened up and the sun shone through? Have you ever thought to yourself, "How could I have been so thick?"
Well, that was me last night.
I'm sitting there watching one of my loco's go round and round and I decided to get busy on fixing "The Deep Chasm" (said in a big, ominous voice). While fixing the spot on the end of the first turnback loop your words kept coming to mind. You kept mentioning "spots" that needed fixed. Now being the thick headed Neanderthal that I can be sometimes, your words really didn't register until that moment. Long story short, I found a few more places that could use some "insurance", and so I fixed those too. Thanks for gently nudging me to look deeper into the situation. Sometimes it takes another set of eyes to see what's right in front of you all along, huh?
Please & Thank You! Early start here, for a night owl like myself.
Jeffrey, you have us beat by 10%...only a 60% chance of thunderstorms here. Seems they more often go around our little valley. If you have any extra, please feel free to send it our way. Water tables are still quite low.
Will clean up and test an old relic (Atlas F9) I picked up. Could not resist the blue on silver colors and thought it might work to assist a steamer down the road. Rob
Good morning all!
I'll have some toast with butter, a cup of fresh coffee and a tall glass of Ed's OJ please!
Thanks Chloe!
Here is my old Suydam roundhouse and Atlas roundtable in place.
The "master plan" is to bring this 30+ years model renovated and up to modern modeling standards. I have started the foundation with the inspection pits:
Next step is to cut the base plywood to fit the inspection pits.
Garry, I saved a few blueberries for you! Interesting thing about all this China trade stuff huh, now not only do I look at expiration dates on all food, but look if it has Made in China on it too! I like that observation car too, nice work! Sorry to hear about Wes, the stories and wisdom he told and that you shared with us are truly gifts that we can all cherish. My condolences to you and his family, thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sue, sounds like you put a lot into that bridge. Nature has a way of making everything unique don't it, especially when it comes to modeling in small scale. Thanks for the descriptions on the flowers and bushes too! Now I need to start collecting various plant materials in my yard! BTW, the video works, but that was one bumpy ride huh!
Jerry, I just picked up six of those magazine binder holder thingy's at Staples for about $5.00 each and want to start organizing all the boxes of railroading magazines I have. I cannot see me ever cutting up my supply, even though I have boxes and boxes full of them.
PC, congratulations on the inaugural run on the layout! And what and impressive work in such a short period of time! Those main line runs are great too!
Paul, 35 years of tarp cover and now a solid roof for your 7 ½ equip should be easier for you too! Not all the uncovering to do now!
J.R., lots of steel in Pitt huh! How about a short video link there!
Jeff, I know you guys are getting a lot of rain; can you ship a train load of it up here? We are 5" below normal for rainfall to-date!
Luc, nice work on the station and Gloetown!
Thoughts and prayers to all in need!

The Trackside Weekly was also there to witness the event. Though lacking saficent landscaping and rolling stock, the load engine was quite the sight to see rolling through a blue desert of foam.

Several hundred cars are still boxed up in storage. As to the scenery........Maine does have a blue desert, doesn't it?
Howdy All....Its cloudy got some rain early now looks like a second round of storms coming in now...Lest we don't have to water tomato plants.....I'll have a Pork burger, onion rings and a root beer float please...Thank you....I have been cleaning track and running trains....I decided I don't like the way the hand car set out came out so I am taking it out...I have been watching E bay for some M/T couplers already put together I have put a couple together but they are just to small for me I want to body mount some more I have been very happy with the cars and engines that I have body mounted...
Luc....looks like you are buying thanks...I like your new depot Is that the "Arlee" depot that AHM use to make?
Jeff...Feel for you our cable went out at a little after 7 and didn't come back on till around 10 this morning..But Sallie is happy her soaps are on....
JR..I think the windows on the DPM buildings look better after you paint them and get "glass" in it make them a little less noticable..How about some photos when you get them done..I have built a bunch in HO and now N over the years and think they are hard to beat for looks and bang for you buck...
Ryan....Is that the old metal soider together Round house? I havn't seen one of those in years...Looks like you did a great job putting it together..I remeber putting together thier Purena feed mill and union Ice they were both card stock...Does anyone still make these kits?
Colby...Congrats on the ARR&N keep us updated....
Well you all have a good afternoon....Jerry
Ryan,
I would like to have zoomed one more time to look at the detail. I was lazy and painted our pit black. No holes.

Glad you liked the hotrod. There was a loose nut behind the wheel. The seat has the old springs so I was not much steadier. I was wondering if hot rod enthusiasts would like the sound on the video. That was my first video. Way too many digits to do very often.
Thanks for sharing photos.
Hey Sue, looks like you have top of the page honors this time around. I'll have some chicken kabobs.
Evening Gang:
Sue it looks like you're buying. I'll have a slice of the sugar free apple pie and a couple of scoops of the sugar free vinella ice cream. Oh, and a cup of coffee.
Not much today except working. I swear that I got more done on the MRR when I was working. We did get the steel shelveing hauled up to the container. Now it all has to be cleaned, sanded, primed, and painted. I'm going to use 2x2s for the legs instead of the metal legs. I don't have enough of the metal ones and the wood is cheaper.
I spent the evening trimming brush down at the UPRR crossing. The hard part is cutting the stuff. Gathering the cuttings up is easy with the tractor. Still it's alot of work. I've got almost a mile of UP running through us and at least 3/4s of that needs trimming. Oh well, it will keep me out of the bars and not so LHS's.
Time to say Good Night All
Looks like I did get the tab for this one. As usual, Jeff always picks the fanciest meal on the menu.
Larry just headed south for another lap. I probably won't get back to the stockyard until Friday. Tonight, I will get ready for my sew until midnight bash on Friday evening. A bunch of us take our sewing machines down to a local dealer. She buys dinner, and we sew until midnight. Last time I only made it until 11:00. It is like an operating session with our layouts.
Good morning ! from Indiana.
07-18-07
Humid and raining this morning but I hope that means the weather will break the heat a bit. Honestly it's not been bad at all the last week. I'll just have a regular today please Zoe.
Sue - sew til midnight? Wild and crazy but at least Larry will know you're not out cruising around for trains. It's be tough for me as I can only stich by hand.
Jeff - good deal with the GP38-2. Nice looking locos. Are you repainting for KCS or will it stay as delivered?
Worked at the museum on the iNpossible scale display again. Fixed a couple of bad joins in the rail and smoothed out some others with a jewelers file. We can now run more than the loco by itself and we built up a passenger consist with 6 presentable cars with metal wheels but the old style (Rapido?) truck mounted couplers. Can't get the RS-2 with new style couplers to pull more than 2 cars yet - keeps derailing. Need to spiffy things up as the N scale convention has us slated for a visit in August.
Also hope to get out to the yard this weekend and get some pics of the work pit. Interestingly the sidess of the pit have wooden beams parrallel to the track and not stubby ties as shown in the pics above. Hope the pics I get this weekend will help.
Well time to pick up tools - have a set of tires to mount and balance, then back into the unit room to build gearboxes. Hope you all have a goodun' CUL,J.R.
JimCG- I’ve been reading, just no time to post! But I’ve now got wireless internet in my bedroom, so I’m sitting on my bed with laptop in hand posting! My other time is spent between driving/working and working on the railroad
Luct- Nice pictures from the party a few pages back.
PC – Nice video, good to see It up and running!
Garry – Nice pics, looks really nice.
Nothing new for me, Just waiting on some more track from my LHS… It’s the only downside of using Tillig, no one uses it! Other than that, My track work is almost complete! If I get time I’ll post a picture or two. I’ve got to wire it up and it should be sweet, I’m still 50/50 on the DC or DCC thing… the NCE system is attractive but I’ve already got three DC controllers…
All for now,
OzJim.

GMTRacing: It's going to be detailed to a GP38-3 and repainted for GWWR (Gateway Western) after the KCS takeover. That's KCS gray and yellow with red GWWR lettering.

Morning all!
Hey Sue, I meant to tell ya, thanks for the eye opening ride the other morning. Haven't heard the sound of second in a while (or first for that matter). Sold my last "toy" a while ago and funds haven't been available to get another.
Spent the evening on the layout last night putting up supports for the backdrop. Took most of the evening, but they're all in. I'll have some pics later if you're interested. Hopefully I can get the backdrop in tonight......if I can enlist the help of my son.
Oh, and James.....Thanks, it's good to have SOMETHING.....ANYTHING, working finally!
Oh hi Zoe! I'll have the eggs benedict this morning....thanks! Yeah, Sue's buying! (I wonder if Larry knows she's sporting all this cash yet?)
Good Morning, Diners! Zoe, since Sue's buying, I'll have glass of Ed's famous OJ, cup of coffee, a couple of waffles, with that bacon look-alike stuff that's supposed to be healthier for me (right?). Thanks!
Just a quick stop for breakfast and then on my way to that 'W' stuff that Paul seems to be doing as much now as before he 'retarded.'
OzJames, bet it's more fun to have WiFi in your room (especially if you're not wild about whatever somebody else is watching on the TV). It does sound like you've been busy with your layout. Hope the rest of your track gets in before too much longer.
Sue, if you can get the bridge track out of your turntable's pit, fixing the pit color shouldn't be terribly hard to do. Just may need a lot of masking off surrounding areas (unless the pit itself can be removed). But even in (basic? ) black that turntable looks quite nice.
Well, for now I'd better get back to finishing up breakfast. It's supposed to be stinking hot here today - mid 90's air temp, and heat index around 100... Hoople, I seriously doubt that you would like this weather here. Whew! Good thing I'm seeing outpatient clients instead of handling walk-in and crisis today. (Yesterday was something else in crisis, but that's another overly long story)
Keep yourselves cool (indoors?), and remember to keep your outdoor pets' water dishes full and if possible, have a place with some shade for them. Not a fit day out today for man or beast, sounds like. Think cool....
Blessings and cooler breezes for your day,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Good morning. I only have time for coffee before heading to work.
JR, Climbing tonight, Mountaineer picnic tomorrow evening, and Sew thing on Friday. Larry was afraid that I was obsessing over layout time.
Philip, Glad you liked the video. I was disappointed over the megapixel transfer. I am sure we will try to get a better shot. Is there an easier way to put the web address in the post? I had 3 times as many characters to enter. I liked your short video clip note.
Jim, I miss read Ryans post. I thought for some reason that he was referring to pit in the RH rather that the TT.
Have a nice breakfast guys.
Good morning.......
Jeff...... Congrats on the GP38; looking forward to seeing results of your paint shop.
James OZ..... thanks for remark on photos.
Jim. Cape. ........ Yes, it's already hot here too. I'll be off to Hopkinsville for much of the day, but will be in the layout room late in afternoon. No outside work planned today.
Any NP fans out there? (As if I did not know.) Here are some of my NP cars. The dome is a ConCor with Brass Car Sides installed. The GP9 is an Athearn with details applied and painted to match photos of prototype. Both NP and Gn run through on my CB&Q themed layout. NP locos include 3 steam and several diesels.

I had that problem too. I found that if I used the smallest pixel setting my camera can do, and kept the video short, it was OK but not great. Photobucket has a 100MB limit on video's, and if you try to exceed that the quality drops off fast. As to how to post it, if you want to post a link as a word like this, you type (without the spaces) [ url=and then the url link ]the words you want [/url].
Morning all.....Cloudy here now got a nice rain yesterday evening looks like more this afternoon....I'll have the same as Jeff..Thank You..Just put that on Sue's tab.....I ran trains for awhile this morning..I gotta finish taking out the hand car set out....Not much else going on...
Jeff...You can't beat the deal on the 38 with a stick....Where you feeling well enough to go to work today?
Sue...Sew till midnite...That sounds like a wild bunch...Maybe to much noise with all those sewing machines running....
Paul....Sounds like you got a lot of projects going...They say if you want something done look for a busy man....looks like that would be you...
You all have a good day.....Jerry
Good day folks!
Looks like lunch time is just around the corner here, so I will have the Hamburger Steak Special with mushrooms and gravy and fries on the side. Oh, and a root beer float too!
Thanks Chloe, and put it on Sue's tab today!
Thanks Sue!
We finally got some rain, and it lasted for a few hours too! Much needed around these parts!
Jerry, yes that is one of those solder kits from the 1970's. It has held up for over 30+ years with only a few minor fixes, such as a window pane here and a ladder there. This was a Suydam model kit and I understand that they are now under the name of Alpine Division Scale Models. This is a link to their product line offered through Walthers: http://www.walthers.com/exec/search?manu=700&split=120 I also have the Black Bart Mine Shaft kit and the Swift Meat packer plant kit.
Sue, maybe you could offer that ride up for a fee, some kids would pay for that! Sew until mid-night eh! Have fun! Oh, and you are correct, the current work is on the inspection pits that will go into the roundhouse foundation.
J.R., "Worked at the museum on the iNpossible scale display again." What's iNpossible about that?
Jim, Sue is right, please re-read my previous post on page 250!
Later all,
Ryan
To Go, please & thank you!
***Sue, do you ever sew RR theme attire for yourself and the hubby? Sewing machine jamming until midnight...what a group!
***JR, surely there is very little that is iNpossible these days. Sounds like you made some important progress.
***Jeff, hope you are feeling much better today. Wife and I both had CTs last year (for different reasons) and although an interesting experience, I kept thinking "What is this thing doing to me on a cellular level?" Still, it's pretty amazing what you can see with them and definitely a short cut over most other methods for diagnosing.
Hope everyone has a healthy and productive day. Rob
